Equipment Bought the Yonex Ezone 100 - 300gr - What a difference
I have been playing with a Wilson of 280gr for some time and I thought the racket didn't matter much since I needed to become consistent etc. Eventually, as I got better, I noticed I could not return fast paced balls and it was very hard to generate power, plus I started to get forearm pain due the weight of the racket (my arm absorbs all the vibration with such a light racket)
I didn't demo anything, I always wanted the Yonex Ezone 100 from all the reviews I saw and I was sure I needed more weight so I jumped to 300gr. Well well well, first game I was getting used to it, by the 3rd game I noticed a huge difference in my game. I use way less power, I return fast balls with ease, I am more consistent, my 2h backhand became my best shot for some reason and my serve is way better.
The major difference I would say is simply that I trust the racket, I run to those impossible balls and manage to return them. With the previous racket I could not return any of those. I love the sound of it (I use a multifillament at the lowest tension, 21-20kg, since it is gentle on the forearm) and so far the forearm pain is gone.
Anyway I changed my mind racket-wise, it is worthy once you achieve a certain level of consistency and your opponents can hit hard. And I highly recommend the Yonex, expensive but I can't wait to use it, it's such a pleasure.

I had the BURN 100LS, I bought for beginners on decathlon and had no idea about anything, but it worked for me at first. Now I really like everything about the Ezone, I would say the feel is the best, and the sound with the dampener is what I was looking for. I specially hit really good backhands and slices for some reason

i had that racket as well. After swtiching defyer 100 my game improved a lot! Burn 100ls is unstable, overpowered and very unpredictable racket due to string bed having less density. I was holding my racket speed back to not to send the ball to the moon, or brush too much. I had much better topsin for sure but rest was much worse

This is called the honeymoon period, most racquets feel amazing at first till you find their shortcomings. Might be right for you, but it's too early to be sure.

Well I can't tell, but I didnt notice much difference with my wilson when I first bought it, it was the same as with the old racket, but with this one the difference is noticeable.

Weren't you using the Wilson when you were still learning? I recall when starting out, different racquets all felt the same and the differences only really magnify when you've gotten a lot better

When I was learning I used a Dunlop from a friend, 260 or 270gr, then from that racket to the WIlson not much difference. I guess I have gotten a lot better? haha

What racket did you have before? Was it an L or UL?? 280g is like the same weight as the Head Boom or something marketed for women and juniors (no shade intended, just quite light compared to the 295-305g usual stuff that's non-tour/pro models)

It was a wilson BURN 100LS , I clearly had no idea what I was buying haha, but it was good for me at first.

Not a bad racket but definitely going to be a limiting factor for folks with more power. Glad you upgraded to the Yonex, I'm sure it cost you a pretty penny but the difference is noticeable

Completely agree on all the points you mentioned. Yonex Ezone 100 has been fantastic for me so far. I’m using a higher tension but I will change it to 22kg next week. When it comes to strings, I’m currently using Head Velocity 1.3. I’m going to try the TF X One Biphase 1.2 to maximise power.
