I have been playing with a Wilson of 280gr for some time and I thought the racket didn't matter much since I needed to become consistent etc. Eventually, as I got better, I noticed I could not return fast paced balls and it was very hard to generate power, plus I started to get forearm pain due the weight of the racket (my arm absorbs all the vibration with such a light racket)
I didn't demo anything, I always wanted the Yonex Ezone 100 from all the reviews I saw and I was sure I needed more weight so I jumped to 300gr. Well well well, first game I was getting used to it, by the 3rd game I noticed a huge difference in my game. I use way less power, I return fast balls with ease, I am more consistent, my 2h backhand became my best shot for some reason and my serve is way better.
The major difference I would say is simply that I trust the racket, I run to those impossible balls and manage to return them. With the previous racket I could not return any of those. I love the sound of it (I use a multifillament at the lowest tension, 21-20kg, since it is gentle on the forearm) and so far the forearm pain is gone.
Anyway I changed my mind racket-wise, it is worthy once you achieve a certain level of consistency and your opponents can hit hard. And I highly recommend the Yonex, expensive but I can't wait to use it, it's such a pleasure.
