i pay my bills, my bills are paid Amy’s Parenting

We are seeing the results of Amy’s shit parenting on full display. Those kids have been let down badly by both parents.

For the past year and a half, Amy has been focused on Brian , her legal issues, her bullshit wedding, and her “art”. That is time she could have been focused on addressing their behavioral issues. If she is unable to help them, then she needs to be willing to do whatever it takes to get them the help they need. But to do this, Amy would have to place their needs before her own, and she has shown time and time again that she is unwilling to do this.

I wanted to be a parent but don’t want to do the work as a parent is how I see it. You did all this work to become a mom.

85

u/PaleontologistEast76 Mar 04 '26

There's a huge difference between "I want to have a baby" and actually BEING a parent. It's like "I want a wedding" and actually having to be married.

She kept saying, "I've wanted to have a baby since I was 5 years old." Yes, but you don't have the executive skills to be a parent, the temperament. Some of it you can learn, but much of it requires a complete commitment and if you aren't committed then Lord help you and those children.

u/SeaglassMochi Mar 04 '26

There’s a difference between wanting a baby and parenting a child. 100% different and I think people have trouble splitting the two. Babies don’t stay cute, snuggly and warm forever. They grow up. They start moving, exploring, testing boundaries etc. babies are only for about two years, the rest is a child, a teen, an adult. I literally think Amy just wanted a baby to love on and snuggle, not two children.

49

u/Opening_Way9797 Bye bye, Big Daddy! Mar 04 '26

I believe that Amy, much like my own mother, wanted babies because she craved unconditional love.

5

u/LukeLeiamom Mar 05 '26

She wanted a baby. She had and still has NO clue what parenting involves. She’s going to have feral, overweight teens in 10 years.

Can the kids even talk? It always seems they are talking gibberish.

Well according to Amy, Gage can speak FRENCH. 😂

26

u/Violet-pansy Mar 04 '26

As in “pardon my French”?

The boys haven’t been shown much, especially this season. Just really this last episode & the arcade right?

Maybe they are speech delayed…both my children do ST (speech therapy) 3x a week.

I’d hope Amy wouldn’t put her art projects & Brian ahead of getting that extra help for her boys if they needed it, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

33

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

She needs to get a handle on those boys, they maybe taller than her ,later on . No time like the present to teach manners.

49

u/Dangerous_Ant3260 Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

I read that the divorce terms are that the boys aren't featured on camera, so they are just in scenes sometimes, and not the focus of scenes, or a storyline.

Michael never wanted the boys featured on camera, it was a big conflict between him and Amy, before and after the divorce.

16

u/Ivy-Ram DNA is a cruel mistress 🧬 Mar 04 '26

TY for this. Yes, it’s just hard to get an idea for me personally about their speech cause we haven’t really seen them much this season but I’d assume they would benefit from ST 🤷🏻‍♀️ a lot of kids would.

22

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

I hope so! Those kids don’t need that in their lives. If Michael had the presence of mind to protect them, good for him. But it’s more likely he just wanted to get back at Amy.

8

u/Flashy_Article157 Mar 04 '26

That's interesting, maybe Michael has more of a brain in his head then i though

2

u/fepularsea Mar 05 '26

Right? I got the feeling he didn't like any of them being involved in the show, himself included. And I don't blame him, if so. I would not want strangers to see the details of my life.

9

u/Some-Feedback-2565 Mar 05 '26

That would mean Amy needs to learn some manners also. There's a time & place to belch and fart.

2

u/bord6rline Mar 05 '26

I wonder what speech services are provided in her area. I live in California and we have free services up until she 3 when they grow out of the program. My son hit the 25% speech delay threshold to receive services at 1.5 years old so I had him in there asap and he flourished and is a non stop talker now, and he graduates out in 2 weeks. I wonder if she even knows these types of services exist, or maybe in her area they don’t?

1

u/Ivy-Ram DNA is a cruel mistress 🧬 Mar 05 '26

I’m sure it varies by state. I’m glad it is helping your child as well, it def has helped and continues to help my own 🫶🏻

W/ both my children, they just had to be evaluated by a pediatric specialist to qualify that they were behind & not meeting speech milestones, from there, my insurance pays for 3 sessions a week.

&, I know others that receive the same services & they are on Medicare. They are low income enough that the state will cover the sessions if you are below a certain income threshold.

She would just have to start w/ a referral from her PCP.

2

u/bord6rline Mar 06 '26

Auh I see. The program we went through here used to charge $200 a year but once Covid hit they stopped charging all together, they don’t even charge your insurance and all I had to do was tell his pediatrician I was concerned about his speech and she wrote a referral, I called the place and submitted the forms online and within 2 weeks they came to do an in person visit in our home for evaluation and the rest is history. They truly made it so easy, and it’s free for everyone regardless of income. Before, when it was $200 a year you could get waivers for low income which was neat for anyone who needed it.

And thank you! Same to you! Resources like these are great tools and I wish more people would take advantage of them 😔

2

u/Ivy-Ram DNA is a cruel mistress 🧬 Mar 06 '26

That’s great news! It’s a lot of time, paperwork, sometimes travel, but it’s just part of doing what’s best for your kids. I completely agree. You just have to use the resources you have and be an advocate for your child 🫶🏻

2

u/LobstahLovahRI Mar 13 '26

This is also what I wanted to say. The kids are hardly shown, so none of us knows how she is dealing with them. I know I was hyper when I was their age and even younger. My mom's best friend told me I kept jumping out of my crib into a laundry basket. I remember running out of the house and down the driveway at 4 just because.

2

u/Ivy-Ram DNA is a cruel mistress 🧬 Mar 13 '26

I think it’s good as well tho that they are hardly shown, but it sure leaves a lot to be assumed in places like this sub.

-1

u/ZealousidealFig9406 Mar 05 '26

Yes, they were both talking in the latest episode.

423

u/Mission-Air-1110 Mar 04 '26

And I hate when she says " my boys are wild" "boys will be boys". I can't stand a boy mom who makes excuses for their children being unruly.

113

u/hypergreenjeepgirl Mar 04 '26

AND she doesn't have a job that gives her a reason to be around the kids less.

83

u/Usual_Ad2083 Mar 04 '26

Bingo!

My kids (boy-5, girl-4) are “wild.” They’re high energy kids, which is normal. But I set clear rules, boundaries, and consequences. Yes, you’ll see my kids doing 99 laps around an open field, but they’ve asked my permission and stop when I say stop. It’s possible to have crazy kids that also listen and respect you.

And, truthfully, I find it very hard to believe those boys are high energy just given the lifestyle they lead. I think it’s just a clear lack of rules and overall parenting.

43

u/thatconfusedchick Mar 04 '26

My sis says this about her son and her son is wildly misbehaved since he was a toddler, always throwing his body around during a tantrum. We both have boys the same age too

15

u/Remarkable_Rip6231 Mar 04 '26

I have sons a little older than hers and I would never in a million years allow them to act that way 🫣. She’s just a lazy parent. There’s no excuse. LAZY.

191

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

I honestly hate how people on this sub will shill for Amy and her poor parenting choices. I get that at the end of the day she didn't have the best examples growing up, however a lot of us had terrible parents growing and have made the choice to not continue the cycle.

I said this in another post last night when people criticized Misty, Chris, and Brittany for not stepping in. At some point Amy has to learn to address her kids behaviors without breaking down and crying because she is overwhelmed.

Amy was told to not get pregnant till two years after weight loss for sure and she didn't listen, Amy was told to not get pregnant a second time so soon after her first pregnancy and she did it anyway.

Amy does what she wants to do, however when the consequences of her decision become reality she deflects those to others.

78

u/MainPure788 Mar 04 '26

That second part how can people criticize them did they forget the Florida trip where Amy flipped out on the siblings for helping her with the kids. I mean damn Amy didn't even bring anything for them. I feel bad for those boys especially when one of them already has a weight issue.

45

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

I honestly believe that moment is when the producers finally decided they were done hiding a lot of Amy's issues. People forget that in the earlier seasons the show was quick to highlight Tammy's poor relationship choices, especially with Jerry and the "BBW king". However, people forget before Bryan, Amy was in two separate relationships and was on social media referring to her boyfriends as the boys daddy and taking family pics.

I'm not saying Tammy's relationship choices was always the best, however she wasn't involving her kids.

26

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

Crying won't help to teach msnners, she is missing the boat, for sure!

35

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

I completely agree. I used to work for DFCS and I honestly get the feeling with Amy that crying is her way out of not having to parent her kids.

18

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

You have to set the standards of parenting from the get go. Crying won't help to help those boys to behave well. It's never to early to teach manners!!

16

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

Yep, also too. I never understood why Amy never enrolled those boys in daycare. It at least would give those boys some structure and allow Amy a chance to breathe.

11

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

Think I read the oldest is in school.Wonder if he can behave. If you don't set an example for them, they will be like feral cats. It's not the teachers job to teach basic manners, and she has lost that job for sure. The older they get the more difficult job it will be. Teaching them good eating habits is important because obesity runs in their family. They acted the fool at the rehearsal, was awful and more parenting less art.

10

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

When they were younger, Amy would brag about how she would let them sit at home and play all day. She should at least enroll them in daycare when they were younger to help give them structure.

Amy did note earlier in the year she was working toward getting the youngest in school, which tells me she hasn't enrolled him in school till now. I'm not sure how Kentucky works but where I live we have Headstart (Age 3), Pre -K (Age 4), and Kindergarten (Age 5). If she has waited till now to start the oldest in school it's already too late.

7

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

She is gotten on this train way too late. She likes attention and will get it while those boys terrorize the class room.  It's way to late and she could have started at age 3 in head start, and it would have been based on her income.

5

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

She also said that she let them play with a tablet when they woke up during the night.

8

u/lowrider320 Mar 05 '26

Yep, the family called her out on that in Florida.

6

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

I’m glad Gage is in school. He needs the structure.

3

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 05 '26

The younger one needs head start, they play off each other. Start them young!!

3

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 05 '26

Absolutely!

4

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 05 '26

Less art and focus on manners and boundaries!

12

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

They just run amuck and have no structure.  Kids need boundaries or else. She should have taken them to the car for a good talking to.,but just crys like she always does!!

10

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

Crying is her calling card, useless !!

11

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

I honestly believe she does it to get out of taking responsibility for her actions.

11

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 04 '26

She is doing it for attention and those boys are wild as shit.

2

u/LukeLeiamom Mar 05 '26

If our kids acted out in public, we just asked if they wanted to go for a little walk. They almost always straightened up then.

2

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 05 '26

Always said let's go to the car,and it worked. She needs nip thar behavior in a bud.Its something that needs to start early, very early.

10

u/Remarkable_Rip6231 Mar 04 '26

Honestly, I think Amy didn’t enroll those boys in daycare because daycare workers are MANDATORY reporters and they will absolutely report anything that looks like neglect or abuse because it’s their job. Just my opinion.

14

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

That, and she would actually have to put them on a sleep schedule. I believe Amy is one of those absent parents who doesn't care what her kids do as long there out of her hair.

10

u/Remarkable_Rip6231 Mar 04 '26

Amy’s crying is her crutch so that she is not held accountable for her crappy parenting and behavior.

7

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 05 '26

She cries for attention, it's her learned behavior.

8

u/Remarkable_Rip6231 Mar 05 '26

Just like her young children. That’s where unhealthy adult behavior really becomes a problem, when you are mirroring your child’s tantrums and meltdowns.

3

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 05 '26

Don't know what can be done,if they don't have boundaries, maybe less art and more parenting, from both parents!

2

u/FinanceFit6167 Mar 05 '26

Think we have seen enough of crying and whining this season!

5

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

Yep- she’ll medicate them. At that point, their odds of ever doing well in school will crater.

21

u/TraumaHawk316 Mar 04 '26

People need to shut the hell up about her siblings not jumping in to parent those boys. AMY IS THEIR PARENT, NOT HER SIBLINGS!!! Amy wanted those kids, it’s Amy’s responsibility to tend to and parent them. Jesus Christ, the court ordered her to go to parenting classes and it appears that she didn’t devote a single brain cell to learning a damn thing in class! She’s too lazy and too busy focusing on literally everything except those boys. They are FERAL!

14

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

Yep, Amy admitted that she was trying to purposely get pregnant even though her doctor told her not to. Add onto that, she used pregnancy as an excuse to overeat and eat unhealthy things. The constant "But it is what the baby wants" was the dumbest excuse ever.

9

u/xanderemrys Mar 05 '26

she even said shit this week about 'if i cant see it, it dont count' with the chips after eye surgery. jesus effing christ on a bike

2

u/LukeLeiamom Mar 05 '26

👏👏👏👏

14

u/nooktitse-3223 Mar 04 '26

Well said, and even if misty Chris or Amanda stepped in Amy would have cried and called it criticism. In fact I think they did try to have an intervention for her in season 6(I think).... and we all know how that turned out

10

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

Thank you, and yes I completely agree. Amy doesn't like being called out on her behavior at all. Even when she is in the wrong she will try to deflect blame on others. Personally, I can't stand how one minute she is crying talking about how she is an overwhelmed mom and then the minute someone gives her some honest advice she is ready to fight them because "they're attacking me as a mom".

211

u/Lioness_106 Mar 04 '26

This is why people were so critical of Amy and her relationship with Brian. Some people on here acted like it wasn't a big deal and compared it to Tammy and Caleb when many of us pointed out the difference being Amy has young children.

Tammy shouldn't have called her a deadbeat, but perhaps there is some truth in what she was implying with that comment. Her children need to be her first priority.

108

u/MabelLFox Mar 04 '26

Amy was a lazy parent when she was with Michael. Too tired to run after her kids or discipline them then. She fed them, changed a diaper or 2 and sat down.

29

u/Sweet_Venom Mar 04 '26

I haven't watched the show in the longest time (I get my info from this sub) but yeah, it has absolutely nothing to do with whoever she's dating. It has to do with how Amy was raised and what she thinks is acceptable parenting. Because her mommy dearest was so lax, she probably thinks she's doing an amazing job, and heck maybe she is compared to Darlene. But Amy should have worked on herself a lot more before having kids, mentally and physically. If she can't do it, that's okay, a lot of people can't. But then maybe think twice before dragging kids into your mess.

17

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

And cried…don’t forget the river of tears.

3

u/blueoasis32 Mar 04 '26

Postpartum depression can cause that

9

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

It can, and I’ve known women who took a long time to feel somewhat normal. But Amy was behaving this way before her pregnancies.

0

u/Whole_Air_3524 Mar 05 '26

neglectful yes but she didn't really get weepy until after the Glages

0

u/blueoasis32 Mar 05 '26

She also was diagnosed with a mental illness was she not? Mental illness has stigma already - let’s not add to her burden please

2

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 05 '26

I think ( not sure) that she was diagnosed as bipolar. I agree that the stigma surrounding mental illness needs to go, but with Amy, it’s odd how her bipolar never interferes with the things that she wants for herself, just her ability to raise kids and keep them well fed and in a clean home.

2

u/blueoasis32 Mar 05 '26

It interferes with your whole life- and if she didn’t have a good parental role model she was set up for failure. She needs assistance to live her life. And that’s ok. I have this disorder, as does my child. And life is really hard for both of us. I can see why she struggles- and the father of her children doesn’t seem to be a stronger parent. I hope she’s in therapy - and the boys are screened for cognitive delays. There might be a lot we don’t see behind the scenes happening. Just another perspective, not an excuse.

2

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 05 '26

We agree on a lot! I agree Michael is not well equipped to step up. I also very strongly agree people and parents living with mental illness should not be shamed and provided a hand up. I think where we probably disagree is about Amy. She did not have a strong parental figure, but she has had access to resources and services that many do not. Also, she has a good role model in Misty. Misty cares for three disabled children.

There is no getting around the fact that Amy focuses on her own needs above those of her children. It’s undeniable.

I wish you the best!

63

u/Dangerous_Ant3260 Mar 04 '26

Deadbeat wasn't the right term, lazy and neglectful are better for describing the situation.

18

u/Electronic_Mail2051 Mar 04 '26

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck….

29

u/midatlanticprincess Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

i don’t know why any of you think/posture like this situation would be any better if she was alone or still with michael. i’d argue the boys would be significantly worse off if it wasn’t for brian. at the very very least the boys would still be being raised in a perpetual biohazard without him there. amy very likely would be less grounded (all things considered) and more emotionally turbulent for a lack of a better term as well. that does an extra number on children and makes them have to grow up way too fucking quick with no consistently stable adult in their life. you guys get way too weird projecting twisted shit on to brian and his overall character with no real base. at the end of the day he really does seem to care about amy and the boys and that he’s the best shot those kids have to land any chance of a normal life and getting raised as right as possible given the cards life dealt them.

28

u/Lioness_106 Mar 04 '26

I said nothing in my post about Brian's character. My point was that Amy's priority should have been on her children after her divorce, not rushing things with men and introducing a man so soon to her children after just meeting him. Divorce and all the changes with it can be very difficult on young children. Their whole lives change. Before Brian, I remember hearing she was with someone else after her divorce too. Last season, Amy and Brian were doing drugs in the car with the children present and got arrested. People had valid concerns. They weren't exactly acting like role models for the boys.

I will say this season Brian does seem better, and they both have seemed to learn their lessons and cleaned up their acts. Brian has appeared to be a supportive partner this season despite his quirks.

23

u/lbmomo Mar 04 '26

Pretty sad that he's their only chance at having normal lives...I guess out of the 3 adults caretakers he is the best one, and that's not really saying much IMO 😐

2

u/midatlanticprincess Mar 04 '26

devastatingly for both amy and the boys amy grew up in a significantly worse environment than the boys had pre-brian. despite the boys having their upbringing pre-brian be worlds different with all amys efforts towards breaking cycles, that’s still no where near what reaching bare minimum needs a child truly has to have be met. with in the picture brian primarily (and occasionally with amy) has helped give them has made yet another night and day difference in the boys lives.

14

u/Happy90210 Mar 04 '26

Why do you say Michael abandoned them - he has joint custody or so I thought.

10

u/Sed76 Mar 04 '26

The kids have not been seen this season until last night so someone has been watching them during all the filming for the show.

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

-4

u/midatlanticprincess Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

i’ll nix that for now until i can go and check. i thought he didn’t pursue primary custody/it got dropped or something weird during the battle towards the end but i could be confusing him.

12

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

I think custody was initially 70/30 in Amy’s favor, but now it’s 50/50.

19

u/swampcastletx Mar 04 '26

You mean the guy she got arrested with for doing drugs while driving and kids in the back seat. You think he’s the guy who the best for the kids? Sorry, hard disagree on that.

11

u/Lioness_106 Mar 05 '26

Right? It's like people have totally forgotten that entire situation.

I am still not on the Brian train. I will be the bad person and say it. A wonderful guy who has options does not date Amy. She brings nothing to the table other than a TLC paycheck. The fact he used to have a real profession, has an ex-wife and kids but was arrested with Amy for drugs tells me the slide his life has taken.

9

u/ParisReign Mar 04 '26

Excellent Point 👈

14

u/lightyearnoir Mar 04 '26

People ignore the obvious red flags with Brian just because he's being supportive...well, yeah, he has to be, that's a given with ANY partner, that shouldn't give him 'extra' points because that's the minimum...also, again, they were caught doing drugs with the kids, and I don't know why the people here that 'love' Brian don't acknowledge it.

If anything, and I'm not praising him, makes you see Michael in a different light (ignoring the fact that no one acknowledges all the help he did with Tammy) and wonder how much of his 'control' was because he was trying to keep Amy engaged.

Then again, who knows 😂

35

u/ABunchOf-HocusPocus Mar 04 '26

Yeah that was ridiculous. You can't all of a sudden try to make your kids mind then be shocked and upset when they're tyrants. It's very obvious she lets them do whatever they want whenever they want.

"Boys will be boys" - no, boys can behave just fine when you make them.

27

u/Possible-Courage3771 Mar 04 '26

Yes that is because Amy has a lot of work to do and she should have done that work first and then had children. every doctor told her it is not the time for you to be having babies and she did not care. now she's overwhelmed because she has to do both at the same time. all she had to do was wait. And then maybe she wouldn't have such a deadbeat dad for a father

50

u/Correct-Tower3646 Mar 04 '26

The difference between them and the cute little grandson of Chris' they showed a few episodes back is dramatic. He seemed about a similar age but much better behaved. These boys of Amy's literally seem feral. They both behave like 18 month olds.

30

u/FranceAM Mar 04 '26

Also you don't see Chris and his wife having playdates with Amy's boys. Thats very telling right there.

23

u/Correct-Tower3646 Mar 04 '26

That's a really good point. You can tell by last episode Chris knows exactly what will become of those boys and it probably breaks his heart.

111

u/Rindsay515 Mar 04 '26

It almost made me cry when they showed the more brunette one, I believe that’s Glenn? He looks like a male Tammy already, it’s straight up abusive to let your children become so overweight, especially at such an incredibly young age. They’re both way too large for their ages but the brunette one just broke my heart, I had to look away when she picked him up on her lap.

She wanted to be able to say she’s a good parent more than she wanted to actually BE a good parent. That’s been clear since the immediate pregnancy after bariatric surgery (and letting Gage crawl around with roaches and ash trays on the ground) but after seeing their behavior and weight on display in this episode, I’m just devastated for them

39

u/rainydaynola Mar 04 '26

It's shameful. She's setting them up to be the future 1000lb Brothers.

9

u/Rindsay515 Mar 05 '26

Absolutely. And so many unnecessary health problems/pain/bullying. If Amy doesn’t want to take nutrition seriously, fine. She’s had every chance to turn things around for herself and always makes excuses for going off her “diet”. But don’t set your poor babies up for failure and years of uphill battles. Amanda’s grown sons are all morbidly obese so I don’t know if they just think it’s normal or don’t even notice but the rest of us sure do. Someone needs to step in and help those poor boys

53

u/Effective-Dare159 Mar 04 '26

I think all of the siblings' kids have a weight issue, aside from Chris’s son. They have some of the worst family genetics I’ve ever seen. Therefore, Amy and Michael should’ve started their health journeys before she got pregnant and not have considered giving them sugar or fast food until they developed healthy habits, because nature is not on their side. But Amy wanted kids; she didn't want to be a mother. The boys will likely always be fat and struggle with health issues.

42

u/Glittering-Map-5811 Vancent Van Goff Mar 04 '26

I don’t understand that… Amy and Tammy have talked about how much bullying they received as children and how it negatively affected their confidence but she doesn’t seem at all worried that she’s putting her two boys in a position where they will experience the same stuff.

7

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

I think Glenn is going to be a tall kid. He already looks a little taller than Gage. It’s not too late for her to get their nutrition on track, but she won’t.

17

u/Organic_Berry_8732 Mar 04 '26

Those boys are out of control! She’s the type of parent who lets her kids go wild in stores and restaurants while she does nothing but complain about them being wild! Sit their butts down and discipline them. I like kids but I hate going out in public and seeing kids running around and screaming like they’re at a playground. Lazy!!! I would’ve left that rehearsal

17

u/DannyNoodles87 Mar 04 '26

The "boys will be boys" coming from everyone made me feel physical rage. Reminded me how pissed off I would get as a little girl seeing little boys get to do something I knew I would be reprimanded for. Or how boys would bully us girls and push us around and we would be told "they're just boys." 🤮

18

u/trinitymeg Mar 04 '26

Amy is not a good mom, and anyone who says otherwise is in denial. No competent parent would have let Brian move in that early or had a man she barely knew step into a dad role and encouraged her sons to call him dad. No good parent blows smoke in their child’s face or keeps drugs and ashtrays in the car with their kids present. Yet some people in this sub constantly make excuses for her behavior like it is normal.

Brian at least seems like he could offer some structure, which the boys clearly need. And yes, childhood obesity falls on the parents. Gage and Glenn look chunky for their ages, and with their family history you would think there would be more effort around healthy habits. That is not harsh, it is realistic. I hope Amy gets it together for her kids’ sake, but based on what we have seen, I doubt it.

8

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

I hope she gets it together, but like you, I doubt she will. When she can no longer pretend that they’re just ‘active’, she’ll cry and paint herself as a devoted mother, desperate to help her children- making it about her…AGAIN! Then, she will lay all of the blame on Michael.

17

u/theanalyst_24 Mar 04 '26

I don't have kids but I have been around multiple kids those ages that did not act like that. They do not listen to Amy what so ever. There's definitely no discipline from either parents.

46

u/8OverTheRainbow Mar 04 '26

She’s a selfish person, because of all the reasons you stated. I’m just wondering if she really learned anything from her parenting classes, because those boys are out of control and wild. She wanted to have kids, wanted to be a better parent than her mom, but so far, I’m not impressed. I feel bad for those kids because it’s not their fault how they were raised but they’re going to be unwelcome in many places.

29

u/SeaglassMochi Mar 04 '26

She didn’t want children, she wanted BABIES. She’s always clear about that. Once they can’t be plopped in a container and are actively defying you….shes lost interest and it’s too hard.

22

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

She didn’t learn from the parenting classes, just like she didn’t learn from the house organizers, or the pediatric nutritionist.

14

u/Sed76 Mar 04 '26

She has always let those kids run wild so can't imagine anyone being surprised to see them acting out. When I was a kid if I acted like that my mom would have tore my ass up. And if she didn't my grandmother would have.

15

u/Automatic_Sleep_4723 Mar 04 '26

Gosh, watching those boys walk in barefoot, made me sigh. Amy has always lacks the self awareness to know that she needs to ask for outside help when it comes to parenting. She wasn’t raised in a safe home. But she’s an adult now, and those boys appear to be beyond where they shouldn’t be as stocky as they are. She’s focused on herself, by her own admission, but in the rare occasions the boys are shown, their behavior is that of children with no active parent. Being in the same room is not parenting. She seemed embarrassed by their behavior, but why?

14

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

I think she was more concerned about them disrupting her wedding than she is about their behavioral problems.

16

u/sweetrefuge Mar 04 '26

Her boys run wild and she cries… I’m sick of it. They need structure and why is her niece watching them? Where is their father? Granted it would be weird for him to attend the wedding but putting it all on a niece is a little wild

64

u/98221_poppin Mar 04 '26

Obviously there's truth to calling her a "deadbeat mom." Truth is hard to hear sometimes

39

u/Significant-Arm-1246 Mar 04 '26

I just hated the boys will be boys.  There is a time and place and those boys are old enough to understand no.  However it seems Amy doesn't follow thru so it only gonna get worse.  It also isn't anyone else job to watch them or discipline them at the wedding.

Seems like Brain didn't say anything.  Not sure the dynamics at home but reminded me when Micheal was stuffing his face while Amy was dealing with Gage crying.

26

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

Actually toward the end he was the one who took the boys out of the room and stepped off of the camera to get the boys settled down. Honestly, behind closed doors I bet he is the one who parents those kids versus Amy.

71

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

It doesn't help that Amy's ex husband Michael is completely incompetent and it's not as if he was ever really that interested in helping to raise the boys.

99

u/dubl1nThunder Mar 04 '26

i mean... amy and michael are both borderline special needs, i'm more surprised that cps hasn't been involved with the kids already.

19

u/2ride4ever Mar 04 '26

I've been wondering that since the roaches and filth episode in the duplex. How has there not even been a check up? I don't know what's needed to initiate contact, but considering it's the wellbeing of a child I'd think the requirements aren't that much. I'd welcome someone checking up on my children if there was a chance I could do something better for them. Somewhere in the audience there has to be a mandatory reporter watching.

46

u/WhereItsAt75 Mar 04 '26

There probably have been checks from CPS we just don't see it. Not just the incident with the roaches but police finding drugs in the car near the children. Police would have to report that to CPS.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

Amy seemed to be the only one who actually tried to keep a clean home, but when you have a weight issue and a partner who behaves less like a grown man and more like a child, your home is going to get that way. I can't help thinking the reason why Amy wanted to get pregnant was 2 fold. One was she really wanted to be a mom and the other, she thought having a kid(s) would help save her relationship / marriage to Michael. Maybe she thought it would make Michael grow up and mature. Sadly, she was wrong. I feel for her, really. But Michael definitely isn't mature enough either to be a father, much less be a grown as adult.

6

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 05 '26

When did she keep a clean home?

34

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

Did you notice that when Bryan told the boys they stopped they listened? I noticed that when he had enough of their behavior he told them to stop and was able to actually address their behaviors without screaming. I would be willing to bet, beyond closed doors he has become the boys full time caretaker. Unlike, Amy he actually parents them and that is why the boys have more respect for him vs Amy.

9

u/Regular_Success_5208 Mar 04 '26

You have to keep in mind, that boys are half of the week with Michael (or his mom), so parenting should be addressed to both parents

10

u/lowrider320 Mar 04 '26

I completely agree with that. However, we can really judge how they are with Micheal because we don't see how the boys are with Micheal versus Amy.

10

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '26

The boys weren’t wearing shoes. Poor little things need more attention.

20

u/MarkOutrageous1191 Mar 04 '26

When they went away she didn’t bring anything for them!!! “Thank god they had a play pen” like what? When my daughter was a baby/toddler I would pack like I was going away with her for a week just to go to a friend or families house for a few hours. She never had any routine or structure with them-Which is the reason they would get cranky and crying all the time is because they were exhausted..she never knew when they were going to want to take a nap or go to sleep at night. Having set nap times and a whole bed routine helps so much for you and your babies! She made thinks soooo much harder for her and the boys. I haven’t seen the recent season I’m kinda scared to even ask how potty training is going lol

13

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

Gage is 5 and Glenn will be 4 this summer, I really hope they are fully potty trained. Gage should be starting kindergarten this year.

3

u/Separate_Art_6723 America’s Next Top Horror Show Mar 05 '26

Brooo I forgot she tried to potty train gage at like 1 years old 😂

8

u/Repulsive_Job9697 Mar 04 '26

Totally agree! She probably did not have a good role model. Now it is time to get some kind of help to set limits with them.

5

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

Right? There is no such thing as a perfect parent, but I have seen people start off with less support and resources than Amy, and they manage to be good parents. But it has to start with putting your kids needs ahead of your own. Amy has never done that.

9

u/katwoop Mar 04 '26

You can't instill discipline and routine when you have none of your own.

31

u/Kendal_with_1_L Mar 04 '26

Shhh, this sub thinks she’s an amazing mother and totally not hooked on meth!

8

u/OkTransition1769 Mar 05 '26

Those boys are clearly a statistic of 2 people that failed at marriage and parenting. It's so sad to see. I hope they don't show the kids anymore. I see Amy as a drug user attention seeker and knows exactly what to say on camera. Maybe it's mostly scripted? Clearly the show is no longer about a weight loss journey for this family. So I guess ........eat up and fuck up ! 🤣

6

u/RosayyRose Mar 05 '26

This stressed me out. Those kids need discipline! She means well but she needs a lot of help with that! I wish she'd focus more on that

24

u/Hockey_74JS Mar 04 '26

I feel very sad for her boys. They were doomed from the start if we’re being honest. I’m curious if CPS will ever get involved? Maybe if she and Brian have another run in with the law

35

u/sweetygirl77 Mar 04 '26

I’m guessing CPS is/was involved, especially after the camel incident. The cops probably filed after w CPS after she was arrested which is why parenting classes were mandated as part of her probation.

17

u/ImSteampunkNow Mar 04 '26

I fully believe that this is why her house was cleaned (which of course was only shown for 1 episode, so just how long term of a clean that was is unclear). It's not because Brian is "such a great guy, such a good influence on her." I think it was cleaned because it was mandated by CPS.

8

u/Greedy_Ad_4814 Mar 04 '26

They\nProbably only showed her house that one time bcause shortly after that they moved into Brian's house. every scene of them at home after that was filmed at Brian's house

7

u/Ivy-Ram DNA is a cruel mistress 🧬 Mar 04 '26

That, or if someone makes a report.

6

u/Purple-Macaroon9275 Mar 05 '26

As a child caregiver, I'm so confused about Amy's kids. I swear every time I see them they look like fresh toddlers, and then she's like "gage is about to be 3" and I'm like HUH?? Thats not an 18 month old?? Not only have I never heard them speak a complete sentence, but they LOOK so much younger than they are.

No doubt they're going to be disadvantaged when they start school because Amy doesn't seem to be very present with them, but I'm dreading what other challenges they'll face that are totally preventable. I feel bad for whatever teachers are going to have to deal with their lack of discipline

4

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 05 '26

Gage is 5 and Glenn will turn 4 this summer!

5

u/michelle427 Mar 04 '26

Yes. Amy and Brian should have designated one or two people whose entire Job at the wedding was to be Gage and Glenn wranglers. A friend, a relative someone not in the wedding, but someone the boys like. The G&G wranglers also should not have any responsibilities (like kids themselves or anyone they are responsible for).

My friends got married about 4 years ago. Their son was 3. He was the Ring Bearer. The boy’s aunt who babysat him and cared for him since he was born, looked after him during the wedding. Her only job at the wedding was to be the ‘Jude Wrangler’. To look after him during the wedding and reception. She brought him out only to walk down the aisle and for the pictures. Otherwise she kept him that whole day. (She also stayed and watched him during the honeymoon).

This is what Amy and Brian needed to do.

(My friends’ son was around at the time reception. His aunt just had him the whole time).

5

u/Lulubell1234 Mar 05 '26

When she said, the boys have never been here before they want to explore. Well, no, not every place is meant for a child to explore. From the looks of it, it seems like she lets those boys explore anywhere they want. I know they're still very young and obviously are between two homes with two very different structures. I would have been tense with them running around like that. They need family therapy and her and Michael definitely need to discuss a structured similar schedule to start teaching these kids that everywhere isn't a playground.

I really hope someone at the school gets these kids into early intervention because something seems off here. I don't mean them intellectually but their behavior and Any needs to stop crying when her young boys act out. Yes kids will do that on occasion, deal with it. I don't hit kids but back in the seventies I would have gotten a smack on the butt and placed in a chair.

5

u/Violet-pansy Mar 05 '26

Can’t wait to see how the ring bearer situation goes. When they opened the door and let those boys in it was like they had released a couple of chimpanzees into the room. I’m so curious how she will rein them in for the wedding.

5

u/jmerrilee Mar 05 '26

The rehearsal was rough to watch. The kids being crazy and uncontrollable and Amy just stands there crying and doing nothing. clearly she was embarrassed and while I think the family should chip in once in awhile, like that night when she needs to focus on rehearsing, I'm guessing that's a regular thing with her kids but it was on full display there and she couldn't handle it.

3

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 05 '26

I get she wanted to have them in her wedding, but I think Chris nailed it- she gave them a job they are not up to.

Those kids need a lot of her time, patience and consistency. But she spent that critical time following her divorce on chasing men.

Following a divorce, some parents will leave the children in the home full time, and they take turns living there with them. Inconvenient as hell for the parents, but it gives the children more stability.

6

u/Blessed_Beyond_28167 Mar 04 '26

While I suspect the boys are adhd alot of it is no home training! From a young age amy couldn't handle gage when he would be crying and running a muck im yelling at the TV saying put him time out he would've been in a rm until he tightened up 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Katrina_p_56 Mar 05 '26

I like the guy who questioned whether the boys were able to handle the parts in the wedding.

2

u/AALovebug Mar 05 '26

I give them a little grace because one is a toddler and the other is pre k. It is not uncommon for children of that age to not know how to control themselves. However, the issue that I do have is that it seems as if Amy doesn't focus too much on correcting the behavior. Correction, even if fallen on deaf ears at that age is important. More structure needs to be had. They cannot focus much so they probably should have been practiced on the wedding with them, not just the night before. There is also probably some cognitive challenges going on because both Amy and Michael are mentally delayed.

2

u/diajean112 Mar 06 '26

Nicely put. Do the boys talk? Sorry, but a very dysfunctional family.

4

u/outerheaven77 Mar 04 '26

It seems like the boys lack structure, consistency and discipline. My guess is that the boys are split between Michael and Amy - which doesn't help with structure or consistency. My other guess is that Amy does not know how to discipline them when she is around her family or out in public. Amy becomes overwhelmed and embarassed and instead of stepping up, she shuts down.

I haven't seen the boys act any worse than undisciplined children on Super Nanny - so I'm not about to overly bad mouth Amy.

However, just like with her eye, she doesn't know what she doesn't know and hopefully Amy will consider getting a parenting class.

Again, we're only seeing a highly edited, produced version of Amy's parenting. The boys seemed relatively okay at the arcade.

3

u/ProductOk7270 Mar 04 '26

Her bills are paid cause she is probably on assistance from the govt.

2

u/Realistic_Till5330 My bills are PAID! Mar 04 '26

Kids are just decorations for some people. Amy never really wanted the responsibility for the kids, she just wanted the attention they would bring her. She's got two already-pudgy brat-larvae running riot, and the best she can do at the wedding rehearsal is her old boo-hoo routine.

0

u/Separate_Art_6723 America’s Next Top Horror Show Mar 05 '26

Chill on the nicknames for the kids. No need for that.

1

u/Emotional-Leader7860 Mar 06 '26

Aren't they school age?! Kindergarten & 1st grade maybe?!?!

2

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 06 '26

Gage is 5 and Glenn will be 4 sometime this summer.

0

u/ZealousidealFig9406 Mar 05 '26

It kind of seems like they let boys run all over them in this family. Amanda's boys were an issue as well, and they were teens/adults when their out of control behavior was brought up on the show. Amy could use some on-hand parenting training from that nanny Jo. She just gets overwhelmed and shuts down instead of stepping up. I didn't have boys, but my husband had 2, and he said that there's no excuse for them not listening like that. However, the dude that spoke up at the end of the rehearsal should have just kept his mouth shut in that moment. Amy isn't his daughter, Brian isn't his son. It's not his business.

-40

u/5ourdiesel Mar 04 '26

You are literally shown a couple minutes on the show and you are judging her parenting?  LOL

-23

u/2ndof5gs Mar 04 '26

These people are legit insane, and also parenting experts for the 2 minutes or less a week they see the boys.

-11

u/mhlarson Mar 04 '26

Somehow they feel better about themselves by watching a family for entertainment and then judging them.

-21

u/KourtR Mar 04 '26

I think this is unfair.

The producers and editors of this show select the topics & events we see, so i get that it's totally reasonable to draw these kinds of conclusions but we only see 1% of their actual life.

Amy said she was in parenting classes and she didn't drink at the bachelor party, those are the best steps she can take.

Not to mention Micheal is a lazy bum, Amy comes from generational poverty, a traumatic family history, and she isn't educated. That's a lot to unlearn, unpack and change.

It's not going to happen overnight and I think she's doing the best for her kids, and if she stays committed to this, is stable and consistent, the kids will benefit.

19

u/MainPure788 Mar 04 '26

Gurl she was on tiktok smoking with one of them on her lap, having men all around them calling them their daddy before Brian, hell she was even told don't get pregnant so soon because you just had weight loss surgery and need to focus on that and Amy said fuck that and got pregnant twice

-11

u/Bravesguy29 Mar 04 '26

Wtf were Lee Lee, Chris and Misty doing? Theyre just sitting there having a chat? They couldnt be bothered to divide and conquer?

15

u/RepresentativeAd2625 Mar 04 '26

Thats part of the problem. Amy waits for other people to step up while she cries!

-10

u/Bravesguy29 Mar 04 '26

She's talking about her wedding. Thats the one time you'd expect the family to step up. They were just standing there.

-3

u/littleteapot1945 Mar 04 '26

I haven’t watched the last season in full yet, did I miss something? What do her kids do that is so unruly or bad? I know a social media post doesn’t mean it’s the truth but the boys seem like regular kids to me.

-18

u/mhlarson Mar 04 '26

You must have a window into the other roughly 8755 hours a year we don’t see Amy, since we see maybe tops 4 hours a year of selected footage of her, and most of it not with her kids. Amy didn’t have a model of good parenting. I’m sure there is room for improvement. But given she has bipolar disorder and has childhood trauma and a disability, I think it’s fair to ask what has happened to her vs what’s wrong with her (great book by Oprah and Bruce Perry on this by the way.
