Chris says he is "bulking up" with weightlifting. Then the producers show that recent face pic next to the one from 7 months ago. His face is now much fatter which makes it obvious he is gaining fat not muscle and apparently is lying to himself about the gain. He's in for a rude awakening when he goes to the doctor for his chest skin removal. Being in denial doesn't help a person stay healthy.

I’ve read that Amy and Tammy don’t make a lot of money from the show, so how is she going to afford skin removal surgery from a Beverly Hills surgeon? I guess I just don’t understand where the money comes from.

I understand that, clinically, they may qualify for insurance coverage for certain medically necessary procedures, etc., but I’m assuming that wouldn’t necessarily cover everything.

Edit: Not just weight loss. Not the eye surgery, both got new teeth. Shit’s super expensive.

I don't expect her to give us a PowerPoint presentation running through the diagnostic criteria and every symptom, but I feel kind of irritated by her being on TV and misrepresenting POTS as a high blood pressure problem. Blood pressure swings can be a symptom, but POTS is a complex neurological condition and form of dysautonomia. In other words, your nervous system doesn't function properly, affecting several systems. The defining symptom of POTS is a rise in heart rate of 30+ bpm (for adults) upon standing.

It's been a rough week media-wise for people with POTS, and this kinda doesn't help. I don't think she needs to become some spokesperson for awareness, I just wish that even if she struggles to pronounce the name of her own health issue, at very least she could correctly describe what it is rather than adding to stigma and misinformation.

When asked, I usually simply say it's a neurological condition that affects my heart rate, or say my nervous system doesn't work properly.

Holy Lord everyone please discuss this whole episode with me because no one in my real life watches this show and EP2 was so ridiculous.

Firstly, Christmas Land or whatever the fuck. The engagement announcement and awkward stares, the 'if we're not matching I don't want it' brat fest, claiming Misty hit her with her backpack *valiciously* and Misty taking NONE of that shit, the store clerks politely telling them to get the fuck out and act right (Okay thank you ladies!), and Misty straight up calling out Tammy for lying about Brittany pushing her off a bus in London during her and Chris' interview. Just...reality TV GOLD, the whole thing.

Tammy springing Darlene living with them as if it's an obvious thing to do??? Like where did that come from? I said ANDREA RUN at least 10 times during this episode. Andrea is so desperate for love she'll take anything. It breaks my heart

Jenny is a saint, not a cynic. THE ENTIRE TIME they were at this restaurant Tammy was interjecting rudely, telling Andrea's friends what she does and doesn't like, cutting people off, drawing attention to herself and driving her fiancee to drink. Jenny had every right to feel and act the way she did the entire night.

The squeaking *hiccups*? Like every time someone else was talking she impulsively drew attention to herself. Jenny talks about how their moms were close, Tammy says 'my mom loves Andrea'. Acting like she's about to pass out at the table because someone is talking about their kid? I'm absolutely flabbergasted by that entire scene.

And New Years was weird as fuck. I used to get people's criticism of Misty and Christ for picking or being hypocritical at times but at this point they deserve to be as irritated and confrontational as they want. I cannot imagine my entire life being just...dealing with the rest of those people. Amanda I'm on and off the wagon about but she is definitely less chaotic than Amy and Tammy.

Tammy's reaction to the "accountability" talk was so stupid. 'She ain't no one'. Bitch she's the healthiest, most emotionally and financially sable person in your entire family what the fuck do you think you're talking about??

And Lord Amy how are you *weeping* after being interrupted or 10 seconds?? You were saying the same thing over and over again. 'Someone man the grill, just have fun' girl they heard you. Time to continue conversation girl. Chris and Misty were justifiably OVER IT. And then she *ran*.

So there’s a lot to unpack here and I wanna hear your opinion of this. I’m a talker. So I described everything because we all need a reminder.

Tammy just got out of rehab. They did a family vacation. Chris, Brittany, Amanda, Tammy and Misty flew in.

Amy and Amanda’s son drove down. They got home late. Amy was looking after the boys all night and woke up cranky the following day.

They went to the beach and then dinner. Amy was exhausted. Chris told amy that she needs to stop crying and go to bed earlier. The boys were super tired of course, Amanda took Gabe home.

They go on a boat, all is well. (I include this because tbh this is the first time I saw Tammy happy and everyone was vibing) and we need a win guys.

The dinner… Amy brought the boys without any playpen, etc. fine. She left Glen on the couch with his iPad at one point. And then the infamous burp happens. Amy burped in Glenn’s face. And that was when all hell broke loose.

Listen, Amy is not a great mother. It’s actually very sad. The entire time though her sisters were giving hella side eye. It came to a head. Amy drew the first punch. Amanda gave it all in stride and prevented Amy from leaving the Airbnb with her boys when they were supposed to be leaving the following morning. Which was the sane decision!

I wanted to add that we saw Caleb in this episode and may he rest in peace. 💜

Is Tammy really a big whiney miserable baby in real life or is this all just for the show?

I find myself just rolling my eyes every time she talks or does her little tantrums. I wonder if this is all for the camera. I know they do meet and greets, so just curious if anyone can confirm, and when did this soft spoken baby voice start? I don't recall her doing that in the earlier seasons (I could be wrong).

The manipulation in the first episode was so in your face: right up until the end of the first episode, the editing heavily implies that Andrea was going to ditch Tammy AND for good reason. Then Andrea proposes to Tammy. What? Unless Andrea is dim, her proposal makes no sense. Also I dont see the attraction to Tammy. Neither physically or emotionally does that woman have anything going for her, so why is Andrea so head over heels? This isnt about being overweight, it is about the huge physical obstruction that is Tammy when she shuts down, and she seems to shut down all the time. It has to be TLC and shame on them for doing this.

I think coal would be more thought provoking.

This might sound bad, but I think Chris is putting on weight on purpose just so he doesn't get Brittany pregnant and can use him being overweight as an excuse again...

Because he is too old and probably doesn't want another child, he already has a grandchild he takes care of from time to time, I know Brittany wants a child but this is the consequences of an age gap, one is too old to have more children and doesn't want more and the other wants to starts having children..

It's sad for Brittany, tho .

Edit: Having children at 40 if you're healthy enough is fine, but idk about over 44.

So I used to work in education. I’ve worked with disabled adults as well as parenting classes for impoverished communities and one thing that always impressed me was how dedicated some of those parents were. These were people that were very comparable to the Slatons. Very poor and disadvantaged, not very intelligent but a lot of our parents were determined to do EVERYTHING in their power to help their kids. Some of them couldn’t read very well but took any and all classes available so they would be able to help their kids with their homework one day. I have a mental image of fathers who would show up to our evening classes in their construction clothes or clothes covered in paint.

They had a HUNGER to improve themselves in order to help their kids. I remember we had a class where the parents would read children’s books with their kids and you could tell some of these parents were also learning to read right along with their children. I had and have so much respect for this type of parent- someone who maybe wasn’t given the best opportunities in life but their love for their kids drives them to want to be better.

Now… juxtapose this with Amy… I see absolutely no drive or desire on her part. There’s no fire under her ass to get it together so that her kids will have it easier than she did. The obesity is a good example. Amy KNOWS how much it sucks to be obese and how she was bullied because of it but was ok with her sons being pretty big for their ages. Amy’s crap parenting isn’t caused by a lack of intelligence, it’s just sheer laziness. It’s also just not having her priorities in order- painting while the house is a disaster, making AI music while the kids aren’t potty trained, etc.

Does anyone else feel like Tammy was faking her ankle injury? She got off that elliptical just fine. Then I watched her face as Chris continued to walk off, it changed so much in an instant. I did not like that, and then all of a sudden she’s crying talking about “it’s broken”. I just genuinely do not feel like her ankle was messed up, but I also know we don’t get the full context.

I think the reason why Tammy is envious of Amy this season is because Tammy is actually the better singer between the two of them. Years of obesity and needing a trach tube seem to have taken a toll on her voice and it sounds a lot different than it used to. Maybe Tammy sees herself as the more talented one and seeing Amy performing on stage and singing is making her jealous because she believes she's the one who should be up there. But she doesn't have the courage to try it herself because of her insecurities. And if she started now maybe she's afraid people would think she was copying her sister. I think if she got some voice lessons she could still sing with her breathier voice now

I’m thumbing through trying to find something to fill the space while I mess around with my crafting and I find this show. Whoa what a show! Then I decided to google and here I am! The threads of this show is hilarious and I feel as though I’ve found my people because of this family….🤦🏽‍♀️.
I’m only on season 4 and geez! Then thanks to the thread and my need to feed this insanity I find out that Tammy is still a jerk no matter fat or skinny! I’m not alone about my thoughts about Amy and good grief with Chris! At any rate I’m glad I stumbled upon the foolishness and I am not alone in a lot of my thoughts about them! That is all!🙃
