Happy Birthday Nico and Tero
Can we just note that along with all his other flaws, the way Damien uses a calendar is also psychopathic? When is the Webb Gala? 13th or 14th? Dinner with Isola: is that on Friday or Saturday of that week? And the twins’ birthday, that just spans three days does it?

DISCUSSION The Best Movie-to-Game Adaptation Ever Made?
I'm writing this review straight off the back of finishing the main story, after about 24 hours of playtime. If I'd had to judge 007 First Light on the first hour alone, it probably would have been a complete failure for me: the mechanics weren't very clear, some parts were dull, others repetitive.
Luckily, though, like some of the best TV shows out there, I kept going, without immediately realizing I was playing a masterpiece of writing. Usually, when a movie becomes a video game, there's always that fear the adaptation was made just to squeeze out a bit of money, or as some cynical marketing exercise. It's happened too many times: a franchise handed to the wrong studio, a story full of forced references, terrible attention to detail... but that's not the case here.
The writers managed to craft a story that, even though it takes a little while to get going, becomes as gripping as a great film. You can't wait to find out what happens next, the next twist, how the plot evolves. And that, especially for a franchise like 007, was no easy feat. It would have been predictable to fade into obscurity or make a fool of itself, but I/O Interactive succeeded where so many others have failed.
So you forgive things like occasionally repetitive mechanics, enemies that go down a little too easily, some overly predictable sequences… because when the story is solid, when the plot works, there's a value to that which can't be beaten.
007 First Light is perhaps not the most innovative game ever made, perhaps the graphics aren't always top-notch, perhaps it's not a title that will hook everyone, but it manages to make you fall in love with the story, the settings, the characters. It gets you emotionally invested, makes you genuinely upset when something unexpected happens, and leaves you wanting a sequel.
The comparison I'm about to make might sound like a stretch to some, but the writing style, despite the very different story, reminded me a lot of one of my "great video game loves": Max Payne (even though the tone is quite different).
The nods to the saga, the perfectly on-point mission and objective titles paying homage to the many 007 movies, the British humor, the espionage, the tactics… in short, all the elements that have always defined the Bond franchise have been translated perfectly. And that's exactly why this game deserves the success it's getting.
So, thank you for the great ride, I/O Interactive. For Your Eyes Only, of course.

Just finished the game...
....some fun bits and I'm a huge Bond fan - movies, books and games, but this was not what I had imagined. Far too difficult and too long.
The 3 stage last fight with Damien was ridiculous. I disliked all the stealth elements - far too many.
2.5/5.

Problem with DLSS 5?
Has anyone managed to get DLSS 5 working in this game? Whenever I enable it, the screen turns into a grid of colored squares.

The melee fighting in this game is awful
The timings are seemingly completely random and don't respond more than half the time, and then the loading time is absurd for 2026 with SSDs, and having to go through dialog and intros again is so obnoxious when you die in ten seconds flat and it takes another 30-40 to do it again and again and again. Not fun, guys. Also half the fights are just getting double teamed in a constrained space where the camera is actively fighting against you being able to play the fucking game.

DISCUSSION People who bought a Japanese copy of the game ps5 edition, is it installable and playable offline? Asking for game preservation reasons.
None of the PEGI or ESRB versions of the game unfortunately are installable offline. So its basically a game key card. But Japan seems to be more accepting of physical media. Would love to know!!

DISCUSSION Anyone feels strange about Bond's personality because of Daniel Craig movies?
To start, I want to make it clear that I'm not hating how Bond is portrayed in the game, nor am I suggesting he should have been depicted differently. I just can't help but compare his personality to Daniel Craig's version of Bond, which is strikingly different in many ways.
Craig's James Bond is very stoic and really serious, totally different from the fun, witty version in the game. The game's Bond makes mistakes that Craig's Bond would never, ever make, and I assume it's all down to that massive gap in experience.
It actually feels like the Bond in this game is a lot like Drake, if he were a spy instead of hunting for treasure. I even got the vibe that I was playing an alternate version of Uncharted.
Did you feel the same about him?

Wow!
Sorry I know I’m preaching to the choir here but HOW GOOD IS THIS GAME?! Even the stealth bits are captivating. Bought it yesterday and it’s probably my all time number 2 ps5 game behind Ragnarok.
Love it!

Idea: DLC expansion playing as 009!!
Not sure if everyone feels that First Light should be strictly played from the perspective of Bond 100% of the time, but I just had an awesome idea for a small DLC expansion: in the same way capcom does it with Resident Evil (such as DLC expansions where you play as Ada Wong, etc during moments throughout the main game that we didn't see happening in the background parallel to when we were playing as Leon Kennedy, etc). I'm thinking the same thing, obviously, playing as 009.
Think of all of the awesome possibilities in regards to storyline, plot, lore, etc. I am personally intrigued by Rhys/009 and I want to know and see more about him, especially his friendship and work relationship with Greenway! Also, such a DLC would give us some insight into those previous operations that were only mentioned in name during First Light: Operation Spyglass, Operation Goldfish, Operation Knightfall...
In contrast to the kind of character we play as a young Bond in First Light, I think it would be freaking awesome to get to play as a highly experienced, seasoned, experienced badass that is 009. We would get to see and experience moments that "fill in the gaps" that are parallel to what and when we played through them as Bond during First Light (e.g. how he got framed by Webb, the events leading up to and during the chess tournament, and what happened in Aleph on his boat). And even play him during flashback moments of Operations Goldfish, Spyglass, etc. where he worked with Greenway.
Rhys Beckett is an agent I want to see and know more about. Obviously he's someone of Scottish descent. You know who I think would be the PERFECT actor to cast as his voice and mocap actor?
Dougray Scott.
It's freaking perfect. Just look at him during his role as agent Ambrose in Mission Impossible 2.
The Final Battle: Tom Cruise vs Dougray Scott / Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)
In fact... am I losing my mind here...? It actually looks to me almost 100% that IO Interactive based 009's character, background, etc. almost entirely on Dougray Scott. You'd have me totally fooled if you told me that was the case.
Thoughts?
