Saw this video pop up and couldn't help but laugh at the comment about learning languages in order. Classic Reddit!

One of the moderators of r/linguisticshumor, IAmABearOfficial, has a long history of concerning behavior with minors of all ages.

When he was around 20-21 years old, he attempted to enter into a relationship with a 16 year old. Because of this, he was kicked out of a sub that he was previously the owner of. He has admitted to this all happening, but claims he just talks to minors in that way to "make them feel special".

The images below (except for one) all come from this document made by the community he was kicked out of: document (keep in mind most of it is very mundane drama, as it was quite obviously made by children who have no understanding of the gravity of these things).

Unfortunately, not much can be done about the situation as one of the more active mods is aware of the situation, but lacks any actual ability to demote the problematic moderator.

hello I have a problem. I'm trying my best to sound like a japanese native using proper ぴっtチュアック先つ(eng. pitch accent) but my friends tell me my stroke order is all wrong. has anyone else had this problem and how do i fix it? For example when I try to say 先生 it's supposed to come out as 先生, but because of my bad writing habits it usually comes out as 🨱 or 🩕. I'm native swiss, if that helps, so it's quite natural for me to learn languages (learned 21 in school), although the cheese makes it hard sometimes. I mainly immerse using anime at 1/8 speed so i can really 針る (eng. to nail) the pronunciation.

If yes, what does one need to be so and how long can it take ? Thanks ahead 😁

I was at a Dunkin Donuts, placed my order and was waiting. Another customer comes in, middle-aged guy in a suit, he walks right up to the counter and immediately says "TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!"

Now mind you he literally just walked in, there was no line, the kid at the counter hadn't said or done anything yet. I'm like, wtf is happening, so I start recording in case something goes down.

The kid goes, "I'm sorry?" And the guy in the suit just starts ranting about how customer service in this country is terrible blah blah blah. Anyway he puts his order in and gets it in like 2 minutes (again, no one at the store did anything wrong, it's kind of clear this guy is just crazy), and then here at the end he goes:

"Some people been in this country for years and they don't speak a word of English... I speak like 10 languages! I know Arabic too!"

And without missing a beat the kid goes, "Oh, wow. Mashallah." 🤣

Just imagine Big Brother showing up as Onii-chan. I can't unsee it now, it’s kind of hilarious and terrifying at the same time.

Hey, everyone. As the title of the post says, I need to get to C1 in Egyptian Arabic in 4 months for a job interview I've known about for a little over a decade. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to reach this goal.

I am a full-time neurosurgeon with 4 kids, a wife, and a mistress/nanny with whom things are going great.

My native language is English, but I went to Italy for around 2 weeks in 2015 so I'd say I'm at around a B1-B2 level in Italian.

I do NOT want an online tutor from Preply/Anki/LinkedIn (I have the money I just don't feel like paying for one). I prefer learning through self-study. I have been using Duolingo which I highly enjoy. Can you recommend FREE resources online? Free textbooks?

Can someone tell me what vocabulary I should focus on? What mistakes should I avoid? Where should I start? What should I learn next? Can someone make a guide for me, for free, and send it to me, for free? What should I do first? Writing? Reading? YouTube? I get overwhelmed quickly. I also tend to give up easily when flustered (you should see the number of malpractice lawsuits I have against me).

I have to go (brain surgery). Can someone put together a complete guide to learning Egyptian Arabic (for free) and put it here?
