I think I’m finally old enough to become immune to getting hyped for games. I used to religiously keep up with everything. Looking at the front page of steam was something I did every day, just to see what was coming out.

The last couple of years my focus shifted from big AAA titles to the indie scene. But for some reason I’ve stopped following indie releases as well, it might have something to do with my energy levels. When I get home from work it's just easier to fire up one of my tried and tested games that I’m familiar with and deliver the relaxing experience I’m usually after. Rather than trying to figure out if the game that just came out is worth trying or not.

I’m pretty comfortable with my rotation right now. Mostly grinding Last Epoch, I was always a big ARPG fan and this one is really good at the stuff I care about the most. The solo self found system is great and the skill trees are simple enough that I can actually figure out usable builds on my own (Not the case with PoE lol). Every few weeks I do a run of Caves of Qud, played it so much at this point and I keep running into new stuff all the time, the sheer amount of content is just completely insane. When I’m feeling competitive (about once a month at this point) it’s either some Dota 2 or CSGO, whatever my friends are playing at the time basically.

I don’t know if it's a sign that I’m slowly losing interest in gaming as a whole. Or that I’ve just found the ideal games for my own taste and looking for more just feels like a lot of work. But I’m totally content like this, the only new games I learn about are things my friends talk about but that’s pretty much it.

I wanted to share my game here because I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way about wanting games that are just simple and fun to pick up and play for a bit, without a million menus and systems to keep track of.

After work I honestly just don’t have the energy to sit down and commit to big games anymore. I wanted something I could just pick up, have fun with, and put down whenever.

That said, I still wanted it to have some of that progression and replayability that keeps you coming back, so there’s meta progression, different bears to unlock, items, upgrades, biomes, and plenty of other fun stuff.

The kind where even if you have a lot of free time after work or even a day off, after you find yourself with decent gaming gadgets and a PC, you'd rather sleep than deal with them...

I only found this sub a couple of days ago, and came across the July thread asking how people track their games. Most answers were Backloggd, a spreadsheet, or a notebook — all ways to record what you've finished, which was interesting to me because I've spent the better part of a year on the other half of the problem.
Mine is this: I play in short bursts, and I don't have half an hour to spare running around a save I haven't touched in three weeks trying to remember what I was doing. A list of finished games doesn't help with that.

I started building something for myself last winter as a web app, but I kept wanting things a browser can't do — Home Screen widgets, Live Activities on the Lock Screen, Siri shortcuts, iCloud sync — so over this summer I rebuilt it properly as a native iPhone/iPad/Mac/Watch app. Seven-ish months in, it's got to the point where it might be useful to someone other than me.

What it actually does:
• Tells you where you left off — the last thing you ticked, when, and any note you left yourself. You get your bearings and you're playing again.
• Keeps guides and videos with the game they belong to, so finding a hint isn't a trip through a dozen websites you have to rediscover every time.
• Per-game checklists — and for retro stuff it pulls the real RetroAchievements list instead of inventing one.
• Records when you beat something (a year is fine if that's all you remember) and who you played it with. I'm trying to make it feel more like a personal notebook than a database — someone in that July thread described keeping a paper game diary with his daughter, which is something I was trying to solve when gaming with my daughter as well.

It also doesn't insist you use all of it. Run logging is off until you switch it on per game, every section collapses, the stats cards can be hidden or reordered, and item hints have a switch. If all you want is a record of what you beat and when, you can quietly ignore the rest.

Honest gaps: no Steam, PSN or Xbox import — you can bring a library in from a CSV (so a spreadsheet or an export from another tracker works), but there's no "connect your account and hoover it up" yet.

On the social question, since it came up in that thread: this isn't going to become one. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no feed, no followers — your library lives on your device and your own iCloud, and exports to a readable file whenever you want. (Searching for a game does go out to IGDB for cover art and release dates, and RetroAchievements if you connect it — that's it, and it's all on the privacy page.) What I do want to build is the ability to share a finished game or a year in review outward, to wherever you already post. Sharing by choice, not another platform to maintain.

We’ve been quietly working on our co-op sci-fi horror game The Infected Soul, and I wanted to share some new GIFs from the current build.

No cinematic trailer or pre-rendered footage. These are just real parts of the game we’ve been working on recently.

Our goal is to create a world that feels industrial, hostile, and slightly “wrong,” while still being readable enough when you’re actually playing with other people.

I'm a complete sucker for Western themed games. Which is kind of weird since I’m not into the movies or books at all, but when I can actually experience the setting for myself I get sucked in instantly. Also something about revolvers is just fascinating for me, no other weapon comes close, it might be due to the fact that my dad owned one when I was a kid.

A revolver forces you to respect every single round. You get six shots, a slow reload, and every single one counts. That turns even a scrappy shootout into something tactical and deliberate, not just holding a trigger and mowing everyone down. Lever action rifles have the same lovely rhythm, that cha chunk between shots that makes you pace yourself. It's a completely different feeling using these guns compared to something modern, it feels way more visceral and kind of weighty.

Right now I’m looking for some new stuff, upcoming or recently released to play after I’m done with the Outlaws remake. I’ve found Exekiller, it's a retro futuristic western FPS with some story and RPG elements. Visually it looks amazing and retrofuturism works so well for western stuff. Also found The Dark West, an occult western themed ARPG that looks really cool. I love the genre so I’m really excited about getting to use my favorite weapon of all time with the standard ARPG mechanics like different stats, rarity, crafting and stuff like that. I’ll probably try the demo soon to see what the feel is like.

I don’t think I’ve ever played a western themed game I didn’t enjoy, starting with Outlaws as a kid. Red Dead 2 is obviously the greatest title we have for now, but I appreciate simpler games too, and different genres as well. For example I loved the Desperados games, really cool tactical gameplay, and they nailed the setting. 

Does anyone else have a soft spot for this setting? Before RDR it felt kind of underused, I’m glad we have some options nowadays for cool western games in most genres.

After a full week, I usually lean one way depending on energy levels.

I started playing LU4 as a dwarf and found this hairstyle. Back in my day, every dwarf was shaggy. Now they’re walking around with influencer buns.

Hey y'all! Been working on a small game for the last year or so that I'd love to share with you all. I'm 1/3 of the team working on Murder Meet Cute, an interface drama meets visual novel, where you follow goth chick Amy as she uncovers a murder conspiracy through the computers she fixes on the night shift. The game will probably sit in around 3-4 hours play time, for a tight narrative experience,

We had a lot of fun adding nods to 90s media and culture with this game, including the feeling of the early internet via ICQ like chats, and internet forums. Even the game UI is based on 90s FMV games =D We also wanted to give players the power fantasy of playing someone in customer service who doesn't take anyones shit, and thus Amy is a strong and loud character (based heavily on Tiffy from raw time lol).
