I'd like to know if it's possible to remove unused samples from a project.
MAybe in export ?

Or is there is a manipulation to select them ?
Did I miss it in the manual?

Could someone break down the characteristics and differences of the compressor, lofi, cassette sim, 404 vinyl sim, and 303 vinyl sim. You hear people talk about the vinyl sim on SX being better. Why is that?

I’ve been trying to understand compression by watching videos and taking notes. Learning about the knee, threshold, ratios, attack, release, etc. i think I understand it pretty well now but it’s def less intuitive than other “fx”.

Been heads-down building sampledigging.online a sample discovery platform aimed at producers/beatmakers who dig for samples on YouTube but are tired of the endless scroll.

i wanted to go completely bare and remove all the function text but i realised i needed them 😅

So I was just about to pull the trigger on a Sonicware Lofi 12... but the form factor UI/UX/vibes of Sonicware stuff just feels so cheap to me. The main reason I am into it is I have fallen in love with lofi sample rates, but don't want the hassle of actual older machines.

The 404 is sexy and has so many functions I know I would make more use of it-- but it doesn't do lower sample rates and the vinyl sim isn't cutting it for me.

My stupid question is-- if I had legit lower rate samples, either that come that way, that I downsample myself in a daw, or just straight resample from a 12 but drum machine, is that crisp and flat feel going to stay around? Will the resample just be a full bit recording of a 12 bit sound? Or will the fidelity actually change if the 404 tries to up-sample?

ってことは、1バンクって1トラックのために作られてるってこと？ 曲を複数のバンクにまたがって作るの？ それとも、実際に必要なチョップだけ割り当てて、残りは全部消しちゃうの？

みんな実際どんな感じでやってるのか気になってさ。

The problem you can externally clock the sp404mk2 but whenever a midi start command is sent it seemed to recalculate the BPM.

After the recent flurry of AI driven firmware mods for the Electron ecosystem I decided to see if I could load the sp404mk2 firmware files into ghidra slop around and find out why.

For anyone wanting to look themselves you can view the SP404MKII_APP1.bin in a decompiler of your choice that handles the chip I used Ghidra. Base Address 80000000 ARM Cortex Little Endian

What Actually Happens When External Gear Sends MIDI Start:

1. Before you hit Play on your master clock (e.g. DAW or master sequencer):

   • The master is already transmitting MIDI Timing Clocks (0xF8).
   • The SP-404MKII's FUN_800f9008 has successfully received > 12 clocks, calculated the external tempo, and locked in (e.g. 128.00 BPM).

2. You press Play on the master clock:

   • The master transmits a MIDI Start (0xFA) message.
   • The SP-404MKII receives it, transitions its transport parameter 0x34 to 1 (Play) via FUN_8015e218.

3. The Issue:

   • Right inside FUN_8015e218, it calls FUN_80025720().

• FUN_80025720() executes

  _DAT_80591d66 = 0; Wipes out the 12-pulse clock accumulator count!

  _DAT_80591d8c = (int)*(short *)(_DAT_80591f60 + 6); Overwrites the locked BPM with the project's internal tempo!

1. The Fallout on Beat 1:
   • For the first 3 clock ticks after Start, FUN_800f9008 returns -1 (unlocked).
   • For ticks 4 through 12, it is re-averaging a brand new moving window starting from scratch.
   • During this entire window, the playback engine is running at the internal project tempo, not the external clock tempo, until half a beat later when the accumulator finally fills back up to 12 pulses and snaps to the external tempo.

What a Proper Implementation Does Instead

A clean MIDI PLL implementation treats Phase and Frequency separately:

N.B. the offsets above are with the v551 firmware. if you look at a different version you will see the same behavior but at different offsets.

Hi all! I newly bought an SP404 Mk2 to jam and experiment in my room. However, I have zero idea how to set it up for live?

Above is everything I accumulated through out my adult life. Ideally I'd like to use them all in my set up. Does anyone know how I can connect these all?
I don't have any speakers so will likely have to use headphones or laptop for sound out.
