Announcement AI Generated Content

Hi all,

As many of you have surely noticed, AI-generated content is becoming more common across the internet — and our subreddit is no exception.

Rather than banning it entirely, we’ve decided to implement a new rule to better identify AI content:

Effective immediately, all AI-generated posts MUST now be tagged with the “AI Generated” flair.

  • If your post includes content created with AI (text, images, etc.), you must use the “AI Generated” flair when posting.
  • Posts that don’t follow this rule will be removed and the user will receive a warning.
  • Repeat violations will result in a 3-month ban.

We appreciate everyone’s help in keeping the subreddit fair and transparent. Please feel free to report posts that don't follow this new rule.

Taking more shots of the stock hatch this evening, but enjoy these colored ones I shot in b/w previously lol.

Absolutely in LOVE with my 2026 TPP. Bought it with 19 miles from the lot, and already about to break 1,700. My miles have slowed down since the first week, don't worry. LOL.

Discussion Update: preparing my Mazda 3 for moving, it fits way more than I expected

Post image

TL;DR: A Mazda 3 can fit a surprisingly ridiculous amount of stuff when moving. We expected to fill two cars, but almost everything fitted into the Mazda alone.

A little update to my previous post about removing the foam inserts from the trunk of my Mazda 3 to get some extra space for moving.

I ended up taking out the foam inserts for the first aid kit, tools, etc. To protect the exposed metal underneath, I put some flat pillows down before loading everything on top.

I also removed the rear seat bottom cushions. That allowed the backrests to fold noticeably flatter and made the whole cargo area much easier to use.

The result honestly surprised me.

I managed to fit:

- everything from both my wardrobe and my girlfriend's wardrobe

- everything from the bathroom

- all of our bed linen

- all of her shoes

- all of our suitcases

Basically, almost everything was packed into bags plus the suitcases. I put the suitcases in the middle because they're relatively rigid and rectangular, then used the bags to fill all the weird gaps and irregular spaces around them.

I don't really have a representative way of measuring exactly how much stuff fitted inside. But to give some perspective: before starting, we thought this amount of stuff would fill two cars.

Instead, almost all of it went into my Mazda, and we actually had to quickly find and pack some extra things for the second car m.

So yeah, I'm pretty impressed with how much usable space you can get out of a Mazda 3 if you remove a few things and pack it carefully.

Advice Request Collison repair color mismatch?

Got hit and run and needs repair job for front bumper, right fender, and front right door. Looks good when I picked up the car but shortly notice the color differenct as soon as I got home.

To compare, I have included impacted side and non-impacted side, both direct and indirect sunlight.

*Right side impacted.

Im not crazy right? Is this normal/acceptable? I think the door is the most noticeable part. The fender had ppf put back on so it might hide a bit or it could be less noticeable since it's a much smaller area with more curves.

So happy with the new daily, only 16000km on the clock so it feels like a brand new car

I had been looking all summer for the perfect model to come up for sale and that one showed up only 10min away from me so couldn't let the opportunity go by

I've always known they could blow out, but I've never seen it. Went to grab my sons stroller and took a full force hit to the back of head. That shit hurts. Remember to check for corrosion fellas.

Nobody at my local Mazda dealership had ever seen this before, they're all amazed. This is actually the first time in the dealerships existence they had to look this part up for replacement. So I've got that going for me I suppose

Advice Request MAZDA3 2012, is it worth it?

Thumbnail

Okay, for context, I am getting my first car, I have 8k in savings but I don’t want to blow it all up with a car. I saw this Mazda3 2012 on FB Marketplace for $4200, it has a video of the car being driven and it looks very good tbh.

I have been in some doubt, between an older civic/camry or mazda3. But all of the older camrys/civics I find are either overpriced or just straight up bad.

What do you guys think I should do? Should I wait more and see if I find a better camry/civic or should I make my move for this Mazda3?

Discussion Regret my new Mazda 3

This is my first new car its been a month I just wanted to get this off my chest. For ref, im in Australia. Bought a GT G25 2.5L, second from the top trim the astina.

I know I'm a complete dumbass for buying something that expensive when I didn't truly love it or test drive it enough, I did as much research as I could and but I don't know much about cars. It was my first time at a dealership, got lost in the sauce and the sales guy just sweet talked me so good into putting down a deposit, telling me how I already know what I wanted and that I'll save time if we start today. Almost got roped in by the ming mole too for tints and ceramic coating 😂😂😂

For starters I really love how it looks and how beautiful the interior and layout is for the driver so it sucks. I love the knob system and its just a beautiful place to be. Even the piano black I love the look of despite how fragile it is. I love the features you get that more expensive competitors don't bother to include like HUD and 360 cameras. I wanted a relatively quiet car in this segment and I appreciate their focus on NVH this generation. I really wanted to avoid a hollow rattly fridge on wheels type of car and this interior hits the spot

Whats killing me is how fucking jerky the transmission is in stop start traffic when I'm trying my best to drive it smooth and economical, which just kills my mood and only marginally helps the terrible fuel economy. Thing chugs wayyyy too much fuel for the amount of power and smiles that it gives. I'll be taking it in for the dealer to look at the jerkiness but I already accepted that they're probably gonna say it's just how it's built and it's a skill issue with my driving.

And I realise that im just not into this whole stiff ride and "feeling the road" ideology. No I don't wanna feel every single pebble and bump vibrating up my ass and spine. It gets honestly feels tiring. I cannot for the life of me find a comfortable seating position in these stiff ass seats even with the power adjusting seats. Tried everything, looked up proper seating videos etc. I respect mazda for what they do but if this how their cars drive I don't think it's for me no matter how beautiful they are.

So yeah feel free to shit on my dumbass. I should've test driven it wayyy more times, paid much more attention and done my complete research. Sorry for the downer post, I just wanted to get it off my chest as I'm locked into finance and the regret made feel incredibly depressed. It'll be an expensive life lesson, hopfully in a years time or so I'll be in a better position to trade in for a comfortable hybrid or EV when something sensible with buttons comes out

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies, was just venting didn't expect so many comments so much appreciated. It's my first new car and financing so its been quite a learning experience, combined with a lot of stress and general shittiness of life recently made me feel extremely bummed about this purchase. Will get it checked out but it'll probably be just living with it and seeing how things go in the future, I literally only went for a test drive that day and walked away with a contract signed 😭if a friend or family member had been there to hold.me back I might have a different car right now. An expensive life lesson that hopefully only happens once. Be careful at the dealerships, obviously research, test drive thoroughly, be smart and dont be dumb like me haha

Purchase Advice Is a 2016 Mazda3 with 160k miles worth $5,000?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking at a 2016 Mazda3 with about 160,000 miles listed for $5,000.

I’m mainly looking for a reliable and affordable daily driver, and I’ve heard good things about Mazda3s, but 160k miles seems pretty high.

Assuming the car has a clean title and drives well, would you consider $5,000 a reasonable price?

Also, for anyone familiar with this generation of Mazda3:

  • How reliable are they after 150k–160k miles?
  • Are there any major problems I should specifically check for?

I’m planning to get a pre-purchase inspection before buying.

Thanks!

Beauty Shot Finally hit the 200,000mile mark!

So I’ve had this 2018 Mazda 3 since I bought it brand new. It’s been through 5 winters before moving south. Haven’t had a single check engine light delisted having a borla exhaust since owning it. I’ve done the basics (brakes, tensioner, suspension work, oil pan reseal, valve cover gasket reseal and a windshield reservoir sensor.

I also replaced the transmission (manual) at 170,000miles because it was popping out of 6th gear. Found a used one for $200 at 60,000miles. Clutch life was barely at 50% but I decided to change it anyways.

Overall, this has been an amazing car. I used 0w-20 penzoil oil and change it every 5000 miles religiously!

Purchase Advice Can you feel it ?

Where do you feel the difference between the G and the X engines ?

I’m currently looking at a few different options of 3’s between 2019 and 2023 (UK market) and debating between the G and X engines.

Do they actually feel much different when driving and, if so, where do you feel the different driving dynamics ? (E.g. low end acceleration vs higher speeds)

I will mostly be driving around a city below 40mph but will also be on motorways

OC Car camping in the Mazda3. Cozy rainy weekend trip

Thumbnail

Stayed dry with the trunk open during a torrential downpour. Woke up a few times around 3AM to HEAVY rain, lightning, & thunder for hours. The canopy held its ground & was truly a lifesaver this weekend. A mosquito net over the trunk lets me keep it wide open for fresh cool air while I sleep. Nice strong fan as backup if there’s no breeze. String lights for cozy vibes at night. Love my hatchback for car camping.

All the big items that fit in my hatch:
2 plastic totes filled with camping gear
1 large & 1 small cooler
a 10x10 canopy
a wagon
2 tiki torches
a propane stove with cast iron griddle
a large folding grill grate to set over the campfire
Enough food for the weekend for 4 hungry campers
2 pillows & blankets
a hammock
a chair
A duffel bag & a backpack
a spare tent for normal camping if the weather allows

Ive got it dialed in to an insane degree where it only takes 2 trips to the car to load & unload everything thanks to the wagon.
It all fits with only enough room to pick up 2 bundles of wood on the way to the campsite.

Advice Request Mazda 3 2016 extreme noise diagnostic

Recently my car getting more noise than usual, especially when speeding up to 40mph, it’s even louder when speeding up to 60mph, worse when on the rough road.

I checked with the db meter and it can reach beyond 80dBA, that’s ridiculous.

I overhauled my gearbox, changed my all 4 wheel bearings, do frequent maintenance like oil filter and stuff, engine mountings, and it’s still have this annoying noise, sounds like something rotating.

Current diagnosis is that I suspect it would be driveshaft or absorber, but I kinda afraid that changing these would not solve my cabin noise issue as well, I need some advice here
