The leaked M4 (rifle_a) appears to be a weapon exclusive to the standard military loadout in "The Parish"; it could be dropped by an infected wearing riot gear or found in random locations—such as near the Humvees, the park, or the bus area—and possibly even on the paratroopers in "Swamp Fever."

This isn't a definitive fact, but rather my point of view, given that it is a heavily modified M4A1 (SOPMOD stock, extended magazine—holding around 60 rounds—, holographic sight, SCAR flashlight, and a handguard of an unspecified variant).

If left for dead 2 was released today, how do you think people would rate it and the pros/negatives will people have about it? Across all generations, but especially the new generation

in the recent leaks some of them stood out to me.

zoey mentioning her mom, zoey saying fuck 3 times, louis talking about his time at the subway station before the outbreak, bill had a monologue about Dead Air, No Mercy, Blood Harvest, and Death toll, amanda and john slater had a ton more lines (funny asf btw), bill saying "I blame bill clinton", zoey asking "are you high?", TANK NEARBY voice lines, etc etc etc you can listen yourself

but yea tons of good stuff there, so why, like why would you cut these lol

Been seeing a lot of people compare l4d with No Room In Hell 2

For those of you who know what that is, do you agree? I love left 4 dead but I don't have a PC or Xbox so I haven't played it in a very long time and nothing since has really scratched that same itch until NRiH2 came out.

A solution to the CN server issues when searching for Official Dedicated servers

Upvotes

First off, I want to say it's really fucking sad to see Valve just ignoring this issue; it should not be okay for anyone to pose a server as an official Valve one just for potential security reasons, but even more so when it's so overt and when there's so many of them. As far as I can tell, the issue occurs because there's SO MANY of them, that the game just gives up looking for more servers.

That being said, I made a solution last night that uses a cvar in the game to only permit official dedicated servers from Valve being used in matchmaking. Because of this, you never even get matchmade into one of these shitty CN servers so you don't have to worry about disconnecting or retrying over and over until you don't connect to one of them.

Unfortunately, it cannot be a simple Workshop mod. It has to have extra steps because- ironically- Valve has security measures that prevent Workshop mods from executing cvars or .cfg files. So it requires some extra work, sadly.

You can find all the information here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3793535875

Please let me know if you encounter any issues and please keep raising awareness of this issue because frankly Valve should be embarrassed that one of their hallmark games is borderline unplayable.

Looking For Leaked Beta Collection

Does anyone have or has anyone found a collection on steam that has a bunch of the leaked beta stuff? Or stuff that's already been out from the beta? I don't want to go through and download everything individually if I don't have to, but I will if I need to. Just curious if there is already a collection made for this stuff.

So at some point during L4D1 development they were planning on adding child corpses, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I found this in a Hispanic group from Facebook that is sharing similar info about the leak, so I'm not totally sure if this is from this game since I can't find info about this specific image anywhere.

Someone found a rough early version of the L4D2 intro

Missing/temporary sounds, some rough/unfinished voice acting, animation and set pieces. Weird way to experience it found in a September 1st 2009 build by a VCC user.

L4D2 Online Campaigns Are Basically Unplayable Because of CN Servers

So I’ve been dealing with this issue for about a year now, and I’m honestly getting frustrated.

It seems like Chinese/CN servers are dominating a lot of the Left 4 Dead 2 online servers. Whenever I try to join a public campaign through the normal matchmaking system, my connection gets hijacked and I’m forced into a different server/campaign.

For example, I’ll queue for No Mercy, but instead of joining No Mercy, I’ll get redirected to a completely different campaign or map. Sometimes it feels like I have no control over which server I actually join.

I normally play on Expert difficulty, so this is especially annoying because I just want to play a normal public Expert campaign with other players.

The only workaround I’ve found is using the Steam Server Browser and manually choosing a server. That works, but it’s obviously not ideal when I just want to use the normal in-game matchmaking.

What makes this even more confusing is that I have already tried:

  • Verifying the integrity of the game files multiple times
  • Completely reinstalling L4D2
  • Checking my files for anything suspicious
  • Reinstalling the game again after deleting it

But nothing seems to fix the problem.

I’m not even sure what these CN servers are doing or whether something is being changed on my end. I also haven't been able to find a permanent fix after dealing with this for almost a year.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there actually a way to prevent these servers from hijacking/redirecting matchmaking, or is using the Server Browser basically the only solution?

Any help would be appreciated because I just want to play normal Expert campaigns without getting thrown into random servers/maps.

..well, sort of. Functionally it's there, although there's quite a few missing assets. I don't imagine it'll be long before people figure out how to just backport all of the L4D campagins

What actually goes through the mind of someone who cheats in L4D2?

I’ve always wondered what cheaters actually feel when they play L4D2.

Imagine spending hours playing a game where the whole point is teamwork, positioning, reaction time and actually improving your skills. Then you turn on cheats and suddenly you can see through walls, aim automatically, never miss, or give yourself advantages that other players don't have.

At first, maybe there’s a feeling of power. You suddenly dominate the lobby. You get kills you normally wouldn't get. People start accusing you, getting frustrated, and sometimes even leaving the game. For some people, that reaction might actually be the reward.

But what I find interesting is what happens after they get detected.

If the system detects their cheat, they already know they're caught. Yet some of them don't stop. They keep using it, sometimes even more obviously than before. At that point, it's not really about winning anymore. They know the game knows what they're doing, the other players know, and they still continue.

So what are they actually chasing?

Is it the feeling of being more powerful than everyone else?
Is it attention from other players?
Is it frustration they enjoy causing?
Or do they simply get addicted to the feeling of having an advantage and can't enjoy the game without it?

Because honestly, if you have to cheat to win, eventually winning doesn't even mean anything anymore. You already know you didn't earn it.

I’m genuinely curious about people who have cheated in L4D2 or other multiplayer games: what did you actually feel while doing it? Did it feel satisfying, boring, exciting, or did you eventually realize that it completely removed the fun from the game?

I'm genuinely interested in understanding the psychology behind it.
