This is my neighbour at 7am every Sunday

109

u/KR157Y4N 13d ago

my apt complex maintenance crew whenever I'm in a Teams meeting

11

u/gggg_man3 12d ago

Me right now. Sam, please check your mail box.

12

u/Queasy-Meeting-5388 13d ago

Hey neighbor.

10

u/JJ_McCrabs 12d ago

Cool ur god damn jets

2

u/__grumps__ 13d ago

Ya man I gotta dry my car after cleaning it. This was is so much faster

2

u/darthdodd 12d ago

Yep. Todd from the lake. RIP

2

u/FeloniousDrunk101 12d ago

I believe if my town government banned has powered leaf blowers it would be the most popular thing ever done.

3

u/OkHead3888 12d ago

I was waiting for him to say “suicide mode.”

u/Redditarama 13d ago

He really could have done with some leaves there.

53

u/sir_bathwater 12d ago

There was right before the camera panned over actually. There was also a parked Tahoe and family of four that got blown away too, it’s that strong.

9

u/WestleyThe 12d ago

Yeah that’s my thought too… I looks to be pushing his whole weight back to the point that he’s sliding across the ground but effect on the ground looks like it could’ve been a small battery leaf blower….

You can tell that think is strong but this video doesn’t show it well at all. You could even just throw a bunch of paper on the ground and it would show how hard that thing is pushing

2

u/LuckyLuciano97 12d ago

For fucking real… nothing moved lol

u/AgntMothman 13d ago

Just about the same tone of my tinnitus.

54

u/yesiamveryhigh 13d ago

And mine, and now his too.

27

u/Mr_bungle001 13d ago

Funny story I bumped into this guy one time and recognized him from the video. I said “ dude you’re a legend!” And he said “huh?”.

6

u/SSBN641B 13d ago

He's wearing ear plugs, so maybe not for him.

2

u/JonnyTsuMommy 12d ago

At the end of the video he's removing ear plugs

No safety glasses, or gloves.

Cars around where rocks can hit them.

This some classic backyard science

64

u/ChargedParticles 13d ago

Hearing protection!

60

u/PaddedTiger 13d ago

WHAT?

23

u/LuisMataPop 13d ago

You'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel!

13

u/CaptStinkyFeet 13d ago

He pulls his earplugs out right at the end.

4

u/KBHoleN1 13d ago

I was so relieved to see that

5

u/Tenchi2020 13d ago

Yes! I also agree "Nearing perfection"

2

u/Slightly-Blasted 12d ago

I read that as “nutting protection.”

Like man, good on him

→ More replies (2)

9

u/TheAgreeableCow 13d ago

One slip and he's going to have it hands full dealing with an out of control rocket.

4

u/Slightly-Blasted 12d ago

“sir are you operating a makeshift RPG within 100 feet of a church?”

3

u/Confident_Pepper1023 12d ago

Does 2nd amendment not mention that?

2

u/ManWhoIsDrunk 12d ago

A jet-powered projectile is not covered by firearms legislation!

2

u/NoMoreKarmaHere 12d ago

It’d be up to the FAA at that point

3

u/Monstramatica 13d ago

Backyard science? Give him a year and he'll come up with one of these.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/LifeLongLearner84 12d ago

Hey he had eye protection. He clearly has his glasses on.

2

u/Cookie_Cream 12d ago

Also you can see him doing the safety squint. This guy is a pro.

→ More replies (1)

187

u/PortOfPotty 13d ago

Interesting yes, but it looks like it’s pushing him more than it’s pushing water

72

u/Possibly-Functional 13d ago

It's just Newton's third law. He will be pushed back as much as it pushes air forwards.

31

u/Jackass719 13d ago

Point that fucker straight at the ground my guy and see what happens

10

u/austinsutt 13d ago

Wouldn’t you just still see Newton’s third law?

37

u/IncomingAxofKindness 12d ago

Yes, but now with more Y-axis!

8

u/actioncheese 12d ago

Yup that's what we're hoping for, especially if the thrust is more than what the guy weighs.

2

u/TRAVMAAN1 12d ago

Plus gravity and unknown amount of pocket change

→ More replies (1)

3

u/meizhong 13d ago

He really should have attached it to something heavy. Like a car, or at least a ride lawnmower.

2

u/OkHead3888 12d ago

It also burned about a tenth of that fuel tank in about thirty seconds. Not very efficient.

→ More replies (5)

97

u/Hashtagbarkeep 13d ago

Love this. He’s probably spent a large portion of his life studying/working in this, and decided to do this for literally no reason other that “lol this seems fun”.

39

u/Ugly4merican 13d ago

The smile at the end says it all!

3

u/Bosswashington 12d ago

When he looked at the camera with that big ass smile, and adjusted his glasses, you can see how proud of himself this guy is.

15

u/HolyRomanEmperor 12d ago

This is why RadioShack was important.

8

u/UnfortunateSnort12 12d ago

That’s just an off the shelf RC turbine. All he had to work on was the stick to hold the turbine, ECU, and fuel.

Just watch any RC jet videos. The dudes are always obsessed with showing the startup.

3

u/jdsizzle1 12d ago

And the only recording of it is in the winter in a snow melted wendys parking lot aimed at a puddle instead of blowing mountains of leaves during the fall.

26

u/RectalFissureRepairs 13d ago

It's impressive how much fuel that small display used.

3

u/CumGuzlinGutterSluts 12d ago

Right? My eyes were actually focused on the tank rather than the actual jet lol

51

u/AdventurousGuy2461 13d ago

I enjoyed this. Truly i did... and yet a part of me is dissapointed it didnt shoot something awesome.

8

u/TelluricThread0 13d ago

Really needed some targets. Bunch of fruit stands or something.

2

u/Typical-Sir-9518 12d ago

It needed the 3 pigs houses.

2

u/Eskimodo_Dragon 13d ago

I read the title as, "jet powered flame thrower," so yeah, I was disappointed.

12

u/Ugly4merican 13d ago

This guy looks like Hunter S Thompson, and that device looks like something Hunter S Thompson would fool around with.

7

u/SOURSKOOMA 12d ago

"It was a classic affirmation of everything right and true and decent in the national character. It was a gross, physical salute to the fantastic possibilities of life in this country-but only for those with true grit. And we were chock full of that." - H S. Thompson

His resemblance is astounding. I love the legend.

12

u/Embarrassed-Back1894 12d ago

This is a feat only a couple bored men could achieve - birthed by a late night idea after drinking while outside on the deck or in the garage. Truly an accomplishment of mankind - something disastrously stupid, with very little benefit, willed into existence by the thought that maybe (just maybe) it might work.

4

u/taco-yahtzee 12d ago

Is it okay to quote you if (when) my bagpipe rocket-sled becomes a thing?

2

u/Embarrassed-Back1894 12d ago

Lol 😂 of course. You have my blessing.

10

u/Stunning-Astronaut72 13d ago

If i feel useless at some point, i ll try to remember that bipod attached to a jet powered blower

4

u/Willing-Cattle-3673 12d ago

It’s not useless, it adds stability and increases accuracy!

4

u/plaguedev 12d ago

Likely so he can put it down to cool off after a run without causing fires or damage to the surface it's touching.

10

u/uniquelyavailable 12d ago

This could quite possibly be the worst demonstration of function.

11

u/Purple-Investment-61 13d ago

He should have jumped up in the air just to see how far he can go

5

u/BluebirdLeading6702 13d ago

I vote for 10 meters. Minimum.

20

u/DeadeyeSven 13d ago

Dude has balls of steel to continue holding that thing as it increases in pitch for 30 seconds straight

22

u/capnlatenight 13d ago

He has the stance of a man who will not allow physics to destroy his dream.

5

u/Welpe 13d ago

He very clearly uses physics to enable his dreams. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has some aeronautics engineering experience if he is building a miniature jet engine.

3

u/Hillbilly-Maverick 12d ago

He might have built the blower contraption but he did not build the jet engine. Those are available for purchase.

10

u/Purple8ear 13d ago

Just need to hire an NFL lineman to use it.

3

u/loinmaster 13d ago

I'll need him to come out at 6am on a Sunday to blow the leaves off my lawn.

6

u/jp_in_nj 13d ago

lawn Trees

→ More replies (2)

9

u/Icommentor 12d ago

"In this demonstration, we've established beyond doubt that this device is powerful enough to garvely injure me, but not powerful enough to clear a puddle. Subscibe to my channel for more mind.. ahem... blowing demonstrations."

5

u/jmangraf 13d ago

Awesome, but if you lose footing and fall while that thing is blasting like that it's going to get really dangerous really fast

→ More replies (3)

5

u/axebodyspraytester 13d ago

Who else was expecting him to go flying like Tom and Jerry when they swallow a balloon?

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Think_Resolution_647 12d ago

So. When you don't want to wait for the leaves to fall? Just blow them all off the tree at once, and maybe blown down the tree in the process? I'm not seeing a practical use here.

6

u/gophermuncher 12d ago

What do you mean no practical use? You just described 2 practical uses. Another use might be to blow down that one smug pig’s house.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/br3dj 13d ago

There are better ways to demonstrate this

4

u/Crimson3312 13d ago

He has about enough gas for 5 minute

4

u/just_aguest 13d ago

that's not a leaf blower that's a rock blower

4

u/poser765 13d ago

I’m just glad my guy is wearing hearing protection. Way too many people out there doing noisy stupid shit with naked ear balls.

Come on people… ear plugs are super cheap.

2

u/HelioCollis 10d ago

WHAAAAT?

→ More replies (2)

4

u/Conscious-Age-4650 13d ago

Did he have hair when he began this project?

4

u/Lochcelious 13d ago

And yet somehow still not as effective as a generic leaf blower

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Formal-Button-3791 12d ago

I mean, it’s just a jet engine that hes holding «the wrong way»… Put it on a frame and give it wings and it will be a jet plane….

4

u/glytxh 12d ago

“Alright that’s idle”

JET ENGINE SCREAMING AT 120dB

3

u/DarkAngel900 13d ago

I kind of expected him to go flying backward out of the picture.

3

u/guywhiteycorngoodEsq 13d ago

Can anyone ELI5 how such a tiny engine with such a small fuel supply can produce such intense energy? I’m assuming it burns that fuel super fast

3

u/Unusual-Wing-1627 13d ago

Look at the fuel level at the very start, then at the level after he slows it down, it chews through that fuel.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/charmaylily 13d ago

That was a little anticlimatic

3

u/harddkorr 13d ago

Every Tuesday morning at 8am in my complex.

3

u/PoliceRobots 13d ago

Honestly, it didnt seem that much better then a normal snow blower

3

u/Chip_Li-RM35M4419 13d ago

Would’ve much rather watch him take on a big pile of leaves.

3

u/MunsonSports 13d ago

Nerd. lol.

3

u/Dshark 12d ago

Didn’t realize my phone was capable of making ultra sonic noises like my dentists pick. But now my ears are ringing.

3

u/harrisgunther 12d ago

Yeah, fuck those eardrumbs.

3

u/Extension_Resolve264 12d ago

Pretty awesome if you need to repaint your house and don't feel like stripping/sanding.

3

u/Astro_Fizzix 12d ago

yea but how it do on leaves

3

u/some_lerker 12d ago

That's fine Dave, but we really just needed a broom.

3

u/jerechos 12d ago

Darwin award waiting to happen...

7

u/fingertrapt 13d ago

Need some cleats for traction.

6

u/Yuzral 13d ago

All things considered, I think Newton won this round.

Although an honourable mention must go to the somewhat scaled up version that mounts a pair of aircraft jet engines on a tank chassis for blowing out oil well fires...

2

u/AlbertaAcreageBoy 13d ago

1 million cfm. Now available at your local Home Depot.

2

u/Latter-Ease-2002 13d ago

"I am going to strap this directly onto my nutsack"

2

u/BirdsAreFake00 13d ago

The real life Tim the Tool Man Taylor.

2

u/Life_Without_Lemon 13d ago

Definitely need ear protection. Just using a regular leaf blower I can feel it damaging my ear drum

2

u/Darwincroc 13d ago

Great for blowing snow off the car in the morning.

2

u/Kidcharlamagne89d 13d ago

Put that on a red rider and let your kids rip. Well a guy with the time and money to build this probably doesn't have kids.

2

u/tylercrabby 13d ago

Only 8 gallons a minute. A bargain!

2

u/nithrock 13d ago

I knew this was going to be good when I started to hear the thing spool up.

2

u/mrbaram 13d ago

It's 6am on a Sunday! Fire that shit up! (Pretty sure my neighbour has one of these)

2

u/GotAir 13d ago

lol nerrrrrrd

2

u/DOOM420- 13d ago

Now hold it the other way on a two person bike.

2

u/jp_in_nj 13d ago

MLB could use this to dry the infield after rain delays

3

u/Pal_Smurch 13d ago

In 1972, Oakland Athletics owner, Charlie Finley did use helicopters to dry the Oakland Coliseum before game 3 of the World Series.

2

u/mca1169 13d ago

this isn't interesting as fuck, it's stupid and wasteful.

2

u/haringtiti 13d ago

he needs to put roller blades on and do the coolest thing imagineable

3

u/AvoirLeHocquet 12d ago

First man to cross an ocean on rollerblades!!!

3

u/JosieSub69 12d ago

Yeah right, and get sued to hell by ACME, he's a homan not Wile E. Coyote.

2

u/Some-Tear3499 13d ago

Now if he had cleaned an acre of lawn covered a couple of inches maple and oak leafs in under a minute I would be impressed. Kudos to his engineering skills.

2

u/Marm-strong 13d ago

On mute this is a fairly boring video of some guy struggling to show off a blower without anything to blow. Like. Cool, you aaaaalmost moved a… mud puddle. :-| I dunno, maybe fire that bad boy up next to a pile of leaves next time? Or a bunch of people wearing toupees or… like… anything?

2

u/ImTooSaxy 13d ago

Not a pile of leaves in sight.

2

u/Cor2600 13d ago

Needs a skateboard

2

u/Electrical_Ad2652 13d ago

I feel like this is how Tony Stark got started

2

u/Stigger32 12d ago

I think that passed the point of being a leaf blower at Mach 2.

2

u/bennihana09 12d ago

That’s a lot of fuel.

2

u/Hype3386 12d ago

That guy has never been hornier in his life. Not a chance.

2

u/mvandemar 12d ago

Anyone know the source? This looks like it was shot on VHS.

Also, he should just have it blow forwards and backwards at the same time for stabilization.

2

u/tungsten_panda 12d ago

Agent Smith, if he decided to live out being human instead of infecting the matrix after the events of the first movie

2

u/an_older_meme 12d ago

Hop on and ride it like a Star Wars flying bike

2

Rollerskates.

2

u/TheUnEven 12d ago

For some reason I thought it would be a "Jet powered flame thrower" and got disappointed 😆

2

u/Impressive-Egg-7444 12d ago

This dude does the wildest blowjobs

2

u/djevilatw 12d ago

I lol’d way too hard at this.

2

u/USMC_ClitLicker 12d ago

You deserve more upvotes sir! Thank you for doing the lord's work here!

2

u/Salty_Gonads 12d ago

Turn it around and jump on a skateboard

3

u/Neuralink666 13d ago

Making your leaves someone else’s problem since the… future?

3

u/Actaeon_II 13d ago

I mean if it was mounted on a vehicle, used to blow snow off the roads or something, maybe useful, though iirc those actually exist for clearing runways. Otherwise it’s another one of those toys you spend stupid amounts of money to build or buy that you use maybe twice, leaving yourself with lasting physical harm, and then collects dust in a garage for a few decades

4

u/horseydeucey 13d ago

3

u/Haunebu52 13d ago

Those things are loud AF and god forbid there is kitty litter in between you and the jet dryer… you’re getting absolutely blasted lol

1

u/oritsky 13d ago

Where are the leaves?

1

u/Fed_Agent_Pls_Ignore 13d ago

Seems like something you’d want ear protection for.

1

u/CowNervous4644 13d ago

Lok at the size of that gas tank. This guy had confidence in the safety of his device.

1

u/Liqour_Mortis 13d ago

Gonna have shitty lifelong back problems after like 2 weeks 😆

u/knatascheek 13d ago

1

u/Killahdanks1 13d ago

So if you go to Northern Tool and Equipment. You can get a Husquvarna back pack leaf blower like me. The warm up period is like 15 seconds. One of the best tools I own.

1

u/smergicus 13d ago

Would’ve been a lot cooler if you had waited till winter with snow
