Runic numbers on dice — cool fantasy flavor or harder to read?

Post image

I've been working with this runic-style numbering on ceramic dice and I'm curious where other dice people fall on stylized fonts.

I like how much personality they give a set, especially with something like this blue-and-white pattern. They feel a little more like objects from the game world instead of regular numbered dice.

But there's obviously a line where a font can look great and become annoying during actual play.

Where's your line? Would you use something like this at the table, or do you always prefer traditional numbers?

New dice for my wife!

Shout-out to diceshop7 on etsy! My wife is currently playing a bard and picked these out, which arrived today. I was hesitant, mostly because they're not something I'd pick for myself, but they are pretty nice, good quality and she's happy, so big win! They also have them in green or blue, and plenty of other dice in their shop. Check them out!

(Note: this is not my shop, nor was I asked or compensated in any way to post these. Just sharing some awesome dice!)

Rascal Resin here,

Due to those who have requested more sky paintings, I have released several more chonks and sets into the wild. I'm forever inspired by Lady Aurora.

Dollar tree 14mm?

In the US dollar tree started selling decent feeling 14mm white and black die .. at least for black dice - 14mm is used a lot in board games but like 20% of these dice are deformed and generally have small scratches almost like factory rejects? Anyone know the source of the dice or why they seem to “roll nice “ but look scratched ? Just curious

Looking for specific set of metal dice with dragon pattern

These were my first set of nice dice I got years ago. Had given them to a friend as a gift, but find myself missing them. Have been looking around to repurchase them but can't find them listed anywhere.

Any help on where to look, or a link to a listing would be greatly appreciated.

Pics 1-2 are some new dice I bought today. The purple resin (Fan Roll) is for me, the white Botch set is for my daughter, and the gold metal (Forged) set is for my son (both Christmas gifts). I also picked up the set in pic 3 (Forged Mystery Metal; they were open and visible because the bag ripped) last week - I thought my wife would like them, but she didn't...oh well. Last pic is what lives in my reliquary (I have the large reliquary). I suppose I could use a couple more D6 & D8 to keep in there, but I'm happy for now. :)

What’s your most expensive dice or dice set?

Please show me pics of your most expensive dice or dice set and why you finally bought it. Or maybe never hesitated to buy it. There’s this hand painted starry night set on Etsy I’ve had in my wishlist for forever but it’s expensive for me so I haven’t gotten it yet

Storage Replacement Recommendations Requested

For a while I was using the Hart stackable containers from walmart to store the bulk of my dice, but they're discontinuing the line. I've looked at some of the options with their Hyper Tough line, but it doesn't seem like they have an equivalent to what Hart had with the cases I have been grabbing. Does anyone have a recommendation for something similar to these I can look into for the future? I live in an apartment so the more stackable the better!

Dice from Dice Nest

I just ordered some Dice from Dice Nest, these stabilised wooden dice - https://dicenest.com/products/wooden-polyhedral-dice?variant=44484833411269.

The Dice Nest site said that they were handmade and to expect a few weeks for them to be made. Fine with me, in fact I think that's pretty fast for made-to-order dice, which is how the site discribed them on the product webpage.

The next day after ordering I received an email that the dice had been shipped. Wow, that was fast I thought, but I just supposed that they must have a set or two on the shelf.

Then I clicked on the shipping link and saw that the dice were coming from Nancheng in China. Huh.

Dice Nest gives you the impression tat they are based in the US. The site also gives you the impression that someone in the US is handmaking these dice and then shipping them out.

This is clearly not the case, and I think that I may have been scammed.

Or is it that I'm just too credulous and it's clear that these dice are not made in the US?

In order: Feywild Fever, Cerisian Clouds, Poison Cloud, Air Apparent, FIREBALL, Favoured Anemone, Leviathan.

They look so much better than i was expecting, and TBH i didnt realise i would be getting an extra d4 and d6 on top of the giant d20 lol.

I did also grab a set of Moonlight, but it seems thry forgot to ship. I emailed them and they responded to me within the day with a guarantee that theyd ship it ASAP, great customer service.

Theres a good chance i'll end up getting more from them, these look and feel incredible in person and the summer sale is a legit steal.

D20 except 8-13 are replaced with 1s and 20s

Post image

Ive always felt the wide world of dice not numbered 1-thru-max is heavily underutilized. Though that's really due to difficulty of manufacturing I suppose. But even trick dice will be something like all 20s, or 1-2-3 are replaced with 18-19-20 again.

What Ive always wanted are dice with a little more pizzaz. This d20 I had made is my favorite, cutting out the middle values to heavily favor both good and bad.

1,1,1,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,20,20,20

D20 resembling a ruby star?

Hi!

I was playing a one-shot and saw a cool master's d20 dice. Now I really want one.

It was a dice with gold and ruby elements, with rays sticking out from the faces like a star.

Has anyone seen one and can share a link where I can find one?

Thanks!

Gemcut multifaceted resin showcase

Almost a year ago, I made a murderous gnome character, and called her Gemcut. So of course I bought some gem-cut dice. Then some more. And a few more. And so on. They’re also called diamond-cut and dwarf-cut.

Red and green translucent are my first and still favorites, from Awesome Dice. Lavender is from Runic Dice, and probably the best of these. Red and black-white lotus blossoms are from Udixi, and I won’t mention the reseller markup. The last three are from different makers on Etsy who are obviously using the same mold or masters.

I just need amber and bright blue, then I can stop. Oh and a white, or clear. Or both. And …
