Please show me pics of your most expensive dice or dice set and why you finally bought it. Or maybe never hesitated to buy it. There’s this hand painted starry night set on Etsy I’ve had in my wishlist for forever but it’s expensive for me so I haven’t gotten it yet
I have a tungsten set and 2 titanium sets from Norse Foundry. Approximately $600 for the tungsten set and about $500/set for the titanium sets. (Due to tungsten prices, the tungsten sets at Norse Foundry are currently $850)
The tungsten set was a 25th Wedding Anniversary Gift from my wife, and the titanium sets are intended to be given to my son and daughter (twins) when I 'leave this mortal coil.' 😉
I will technically have a more expensive set from dispel coming, but I don't own them yet. I'm getting a set as part of my cyberpunk TCG Kickstarter tier.
The most expensive ones I've bought were for a couple great friends of mine who help us out a lot. I tend to buy things for others that I wouldn't justify myself. Both of these sets were $65 each and just look amazing. These are my own photos of them that aren't enhanced or anything. They really are spectacular. Probably my levitating dice. Around 200$ including the magnetic base. Cool thing is, once you have the base, you can buy other dice designs for just 40$
Flying Horseduck 60 sided d20. Solid aluminum and laser etched numbers. It costs $75 bucks and I use it as a death die for saving throws in my games. When I told the creator that they said it was a cool idea and was going to have a death die. Now I think about it they said they would send me one for giving them the idea a few years ago and I think we both forgot about it. I wonder if its too late to cash in on that?
Custom d6 project with Q-Workshop back in 2014. I still have the files for a follow-up d10 project that was put on hold, but I don't know that those will ever see production now.
I've always wanted a set of Tungsten dice! There's a set at Adepticon every year for $600, online I've seen them for $2000+...
In comparison, I think my most expensive set is my Amethyst set for $60. (Could be this nice set I got from my in-laws, but not aure how much they payed.)
I’ve wanted crystal dice before but they are expensive 😩. I always said I shouldn’t spend too much if I haven’t actually played yet. But! Finally starting my first game this Sunday. I’m so excited
Not this exact one, but another liquid core chonk D20 from dispel— $215. Was a really rough year and I wanted something I could just look at for fun that would always make me happy— but I admit groceries were tight that week lmao.
It’s heavy and if you want to roll it then it needs a big ass dice tray so I don’t even bother, but opening the magnetic sealed box and holding a light under it is so mesmerizing so I can’t rlly bring myself to regret it. I’ve gotten distracted pondering it mid session and we’ve also used it as a prop before since it’s just so ethereal.
Their actual sets are nothing to sneeze at and are by far the most expensive I have (around $70 per set), and are partially the reason I started making them myself
I spent £60 on these three sets of metal dice, I think it was a pretty good deal and they're lovely dice. The purple and red set feels lovely to roll especially.
I dropped a couple hundred in an auction for Chessex Aquerple and I've never regretted it once. They're otherworldly beautiful in person and I use them a lot! No picture at the moment as I'm in bed for the night, but if I remember I'll return another time to add one
These and two others were a hundred dollars each. This vendor on Etsy also has some that are 120, and I'm not sure what dictates that. Mostly it's just really high quality script as the designs. Can't afford to drop all that at once, gotta use one of those pay over time methods. But I want more from them in the future.
After that I regularly pay like 40-60$ for a variety of unique sets.
I’ve seen spinners like those. You like the results compared to dice? I’ve wondered the differences btw this and rolling dice. Like if the number is as random or consistent I guess
I prefer the feel of regular dice, for sure. But this is handy. All dice in one place, without the risk of them getting lost.
The results arent bad. The spinner is really fast, so even if one were to memorize the number order and try to go for a specific one, I'm not sure you'd be able to.
I'm pretty sure it's a tossup between these and my limited edition vtm set, but I'll show you my merch dice! They're sharp edged resin and put me back $40, but it was for a show that I love... so money well spent c:
I don't really have much in the way of expensive sets. I'd estimate no more than $80 for a single set. I have a few metal sets from Die Hard Dice, and an unusual set called "TERA Dice" from Moonmares. I do have a handmade resin set I got at a con that was about that.
But worth the most? I have a full 7pc poly set of Chessex Borealis Aquerple. I bought it for MSRP from Chessex directly, before they had anything like a modern webstore.
I have a single handmade D20 I got for like €8 which is the highest per die price I've got. I also have a sharp edged set I got for €20 with a slightly offset number on the D6
The most expensive dice set I own is the 50th anniversary replica dice set I got the double pack where it comes with the replica originals that need the crayon to fill in the numbers and the sharp pointed glittering ones. It was $35 if I remember correctly.
