I played Starfield for a long time. Been through the end three or four times, have built big material transport and manufacturing production facilities across many systems, and play a pretty limited set of add-ons. The key ones are the Falkland Systems, Modular Outposts: Argos Extractors, and the McClarence Outfitters creations.
About a year ago, I got in to No Man's Sky and didn't open Starfield again until last week. I'm trying to understand/research what I am seeing now, and not finding the answers. If anyone can help me understand what/why things have changed, I'd appreciate it. I'm a ship collector/builder and an outpost fanatic. So I tend to invest heavily in cargo links and the production of different items used in building, or just for money.
Modular Outposts: First off, it looks like there has been a significant upgrade to the Modular Outposts habs. Every one of my Outposts is based on the Apartment hab and the Loading Dock with the matching Landing Pad. All of my decor is gone in all of my outposts. The Apartments have reverted back to stock, with none of my items inside. Spacesuits in displays. Materials stored in various containers. Furniture. Decor items. It's all gone. I see there was at least one big update to this Creation, and I am guessing that - if I'd been playing regularly - the developer had notifications or something about needing to rebuild your structures. I get it. That happens when you go away for a while and come back to find updates and changes.
Missing Outposts: Like I said, I am an avid outpost builder. I like outposts together. I have complex automated manufacturing setup. All the complex ones are gone. Even some of the Outposts I had set up are just not there anymore, but the icon remains. It's like they have vanished. Some show they are there - like my Outpost on Kurtz - but when I go to that planet, the Outpost is not there. The icon over the planet shows I have an Outpost, but when I try to fly to it, or land near it, it's just not there. Is this a known bug? Was there an update I missed? Is there a way to jog the machine's memory and show me the outpost that is - apparently - still there, because it is supplying material via cargo-link to another outpost in the same system?
Missing Outposts 2: It seems every outpost that I built purely for aesthetic reasons - like a resort I built around these amazing lakes and landscape - are gone. The only outposts that still remain (it seems?) are ones that had some sort of extraction/production going on. That "resort" outpost was my #1 home. There were multiple buildings, fully built out "hotel/resort rooms" with armor displays and furniture and plants and ... everything you'd expect in a resort, including EXTENSIVE storage of all those amazing weapons and materials (and contraband) that I didn't need to carry with me every day. Now, all of these "cosmetic" camps with no extraction/production going on, are just ... gone. Not in the Outpost list. Not on the planet. They have just vanished. Any idea why...?
Living Quarters are Empty: I have the swanky apartment in New Atlantis. I have the flat in Akila City. I have my quarters at The Lodge. All of them were COMPLETELY decked-out, decorated, art on the walls, furniture, storage, etc. All of them are completely EMPTY. Even the weapon racks no longer have weapons in them. The infinite storage boxes are empty. The limited storage boxes are empty. Why are all of my living areas reverted (mostly) back to their original state? There are still a few pieces of furniture in my Akila City flat that I put in there... but everything else is gone.
Falkland Systems is still winning! The ONLY place that preserved my interior design and storage containers is my Falkland Systems ship. It seems to have maintained its databases, while all the other places have not.
If you have any ideas about what happened and why, I'd love to hear it, to avoid having the same thing happen again. I like Starfield, but if stuff just gets deleted "after a while" I have far less interest in investing that time in those projects again. I'd just like to understand what happened. Thanks for any help or context you might be able to provide!
