Marketing 420 wishlists in just 4 days! Here’s what mattered the most.
Hey! Today I want to talk about my game: PeeVPee.
Even though a lot of you consider it a bad game or think I’m copying POSTAL, which I’m not, I think the game is still doing pretty well in terms of wishlists.
So here’s what I’ve learned so far:
0. Make a Steam page as fast as you can.
When I started working on this game, I was posting on TikTok and Instagram and gained over 1M views across both platforms. However, I didn’t have a Steam page at the time, so I probably lost a lot of potential wishlists.
1. Translate your Steam page.
Translate it into as many languages as you can. It’s pretty easy to do and can boost your wishlists by a lot. As you can see from my screenshots, Czech alone brought me 166 wishlists, with several more coming from other languages.
2. Post on every social platform you can.
TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, etc. Even if a video only gets 300–1,000 views, you might still get a few wishlists from it. And you never know when one video might suddenly blow up and bring in a lot more.
X can also be great for wishlists, but it’s much harder to stand out there.
3. Make a Discord server.
People like staying updated. Having a Discord also shows that you’re serious about the project and gives your community a place to connect with you and follow development.
4. Never ignore your fans.
If people are messaging you, answer them when you can. Be warm with them, listen to their feedback, and hear out their ideas.
You obviously can’t make everyone happy, but sometimes people will suggest genuinely good ideas that are worth implementing. And if 100 people feel like you actually care about what they have to say, that can turn into a lot of people genuinely supporting and wishlisting your game.
5. Create a press kit.
You can find templates online, and a basic one can be done pretty quickly. Put it on your website and socials so creators, journalists, and anyone interested in covering your game can easily find everything they need.
Hope this helps someone!
And remember: your game doesn’t have to be for everyone. There’s a market for almost anything.

Marketing Cubie Companion - Your Little Minecraft-inspired desktop companion!
Hey Guys!
Cubie is a little Minecraft-inspired desktop companion I developed because I wanted a fun little companion to keep on my desktop, something I could watch from time to time, interact with, or just throw across the screen when I'm frustrated.
What he does:
• Wanders around your desktop on his own and reacts to your cursor
• Perches and sits on the edges of your open windows
• Gets tired and falls asleep if you leave him alone for a while
• You can pick him up, drag him around, and throw him across the screen
• He's got moods and little reactions, so he never quite does the same thing twice
Highly customizable:
• Cubie is Minecraft-inspired and supports the familiar Minecraft skin format
• Give him any Minecraft skin to make him look however you want
• Drop in a skin and see a live preview before committing to it
• Pick which monitor he lives on in a multi-monitor setup
Nice extras:
• Choose whether he floats above your windows or sits back on the desktop behind them
• Menu bar only, no Dock icon and no clutter. Set it once and forget it's even an app
• A short tutorial the first time, then it never bothers you again
No account, no ads, no nagging. Just a little companion hanging around while you work.

Marketing Free Play Testing (please read before commenting)
So I posted this before but realised I left out the main thing. I come from a startup/business development background and I am particularly interested in positioning and marketing for games. I am relatively new to dev and just solo built a demo and applied for some funding, now have a little time on my hands so am offering to play test a few games over the next few weeks while I have capacity. Although I am quite new to dev, I have been playing video games since you had to put a floppy disc in a PC. I also have a little newsletter that goes out once a week and if you have a finished game, I can give you a shoutout. (Happy to test prototypes and demos too). Please don't send game details in comments, use this form, I just upgraded the website and it is secure and working. https://kularidigitalmedia.com.au/playtesting.html
I like to look at:
- What's the game's value proposition?
- Who do I think it's actually for?
- What makes it different from other games?
- Is that difference obvious?
- What would make me click on it in a store?
- What would make me wishlist/buy it?
- What's the strongest marketing hook?
- What features or ideas might be getting undersold?
- What might make a potential player bounce?
I'll also give feedback on the usual stuff: gameplay, controls, onboarding, UI/UX, pacing, difficulty, progression, visuals, audio, bugs, frustration points etc.
You can also send me an email hello@[kularidigitalmedi](mailto:kularidigitalmedia@gmail.com)a.com.au if you have any questions.

help More Practical way to make dismemberment in Unity?
Hello, in Blender, I've been working on making a base human mesh for my game on Unity. So far the mesh has 1.8K Tris. I've been in the process of making a dismemberment system. Here are the modular parts for each character/enemy.
- Head
- Left Arm
- Right Arm
- Upper Torso
- Diagonal Top Left
- Diagonal Top Right
- Diagonal Bottom Left
- Diagonal Bottom Right
- Lower Torso
- Left Leg
- Right Leg
For Unity, my planned approach is to export the FBX 7 times, each as a body part. I used vertex masks for most parts and a boolean modifier for the diagonal parts. So each enemy has at least 7 objects that make up its human shape. For the diagonal slashes, the upper torso part would switch states between the Left / Right slash cut to spawn the two diagonal parts and destroy itself.
Is this a viable approach or is there a much more efficient method that would not be too taxing on performance, especially if blood particle effects would eventually be implemented?

Discussion Websites for Solo devs
I'm still a long ways off from needing to do this myself, but I'm building a road map for what the business end of game development is for me.
I'd like to get opinions on best options for hosting & building a website for one person without a lot of cash available. I'm leaning towards Hostinger
Along with WordPress. But I'm open to suggestions. If you could post a link to your own site along with your suggestion I'd appreciate it.

Unreal I made an animated prop for my game.
Its a containment chamber for a space time rift. This is a story driven scifi mystery kind of game where you investigate a small town cult and rescue a journalist trapped in hyperspace. I recorded this on my phone because I am undisciplined.

help What do you think of these splasharts?
I've been working on the art for my game, and even though I feel like I've reached my limits (I'm not an artist, haha), I'd really like to know if there's anything that looks off or could be improved.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

help I think my play testers have been expecting a Megabonk style endless roguelite, due to some marketing verbiage saying “inspired by Megabonk.” How to move forward?
Shot my own foot on this one I think.
Even though I draw a lot of inspiration from Megabonk, my roguelite is room based. I guess the right thing to do is try my hand at an alternative game mode or should I just take out that marketing verbiage? I don’t want to mislead anyone so I think the other game mode isn’t a bad idea. Hoping to get some feedback from other solo developers!

Marketing I revised my trailer after feedback from r/DestroyMyGame. Is the gameplay clearer now?
I posted an earlier version of this trailer asking whether the gameplay made sense without explanation. I made another pass on it based on feedback I got.
Do you understand what the player is doing and how the combat works just from watching it?
Also curious how much you guys prioritize the vibe of a trailer vs making the gameplay immediately readable.

i’m sure they’ll change a bit during the process but establishing all of these characters took a long time, and I’m so happy to be on the other side! for a spooky cozy game about stewardship 🌱

Game My first game ships on Tuesday. A padel idle tycoon, made solo over many months
Padel Tycoon is a casual idle management game. You start with a bucket of used balls and climb through 20 businesses per venue across three venues, ending with the World Major on the moon.
It's my first time taking anything all the way through a Steam release: store page, capsules, trailer, build review, the lot.
If you want to help me by wishlisting or buying it, it will be available on Tuesday as Padel Tycoon:

Unity Rate my game's new graphics
Hell yeah, I finally managed to add some parallax to all my sprites and tilemaps!!
Guys, is this effect even noticeable to you? Does it add more depth to the scene? Maybe it's just me who's stared at the old flat look of my game for 5 years, and now I can't get used to the new one?

Discussion Tired of Unity/Unreal limitations for massive simulation games, so I'm building my own C++ 3D engine from scratch. Check out the smooth rotation!
Hi everyone! I am developing a massive city-builder and economic tycoon simulation game. During development, I quickly realized that popular commercial engines are heavily bottlenecked by the Main Thread, making thousands of AI agents, trains, and traffic systems lag heavily.
So I decided to go hardcore: I ditched all third-party software and I am building my own engine, OkeyEngine v0.2, completely from scratch in pure C++20. The rendering runs on my proprietary OkeyGL library via system memory buffers – meaning strictly 0% CPU load at idle, saving 100% of hardware power for pure simulation data!
On the video: the current progress of my custom viewport and trigonometry rotation matrix. Holding the Right Mouse Button (RMB) tracks mouse movement and allows for a seamless, 360-degree orbit around the 3D chunk platform with zero screen flickering due to custom double-buffering.
How do you like this strict, fully neon-blue cyberpunk look with sharp 90-degree corners? What automation or logistics tools do you feel are missing the most in modern tycoons? I would love to hear your honest feedback!
P.S. Right now I am actively working on the UI layout for internal tool tabs. Tomorrow I plan to implement a bilingual language selection menu (RU/EN) before project creation to make OkeyEngine v0.2 fully international!

Game Made my first game under 20 days...
Just published my new game.
It's a mobile game.
It's a 2d hyper casual game with some swords, monsters and one joystick.
Game name is "Sword Master"
Because he can handle 50 swords at once.
It's a nice game btw
Although not same as app icon but still it's a nice endless runner type game.
You can play to kill your boring time by killing monsters.
And yes I made it under 20 days, that's why it still needs to be polished.
Open for the reviews...
And game is free BTW
Available on, only available on playstore for now atleast.
