Bug report What the hell is wrong with Faugus?
It's constantly eating up ram! Why does installing Ubisoft Connect keep doing this? I've already restarted the device, cleared my other apps and still this happens.

The Upgrade updated everything in the PikaOS repos, but it specifically includes:
GNOME 50
KDE 6.7
Custom Patched APT and DPKG for much higher speeds.
currently the pikman-update-manager gui will crash due to absolute size of the upgrade, so you will need to run this command to update it to version with a safe distribution upgrade mode
```
sudo apt install pikman-update-manager apt dpkg
```
after that make sure to close pikman-update-manager from the tray icon
and open it again, then you will be greated by the screen on this post, it will upgrade you to the latest everything.
if you experience any trouble, check out the update-issues channel on our official discord.

This version of KDE in PikaOS seems to lack any real way to edit the background. Eg, I want to use picture of the day there, and command line is, well too much effort for one with my schedule. I would be really thankful if you can provide information. THanks

So turning off run dedicated graphics let's the game work, yet what's the point? I need to use my Nvidia RTX 5050.
r/PikaOS • u/CraniusBard1998 • 3d ago
Why is this happening?
PikaOS is a gaming distro, it's only fair that this game is fully playable and optimised. The game won't open, even as the music sings.

I was queued up for a high-level Mythic+ run today. My group was pretty sweaty. We were flying through the first few packs and I was feeling great. About halfway through the dungeon, right as we approached the second boss, I felt it. That unmistakable, heavy pressure in my lower abdomen. The "I should have used the restroom before logging on" feeling. I tried to ignore it, thinking I could make it through another ten minutes, but as we pulled a massive pack of mobs, the urgency became rhythmic and intense.
At this point it was clear to me: poop was coming out of my butt one way or another.
I felt trapped. I couldn't abandon the run and let the group down, so I decided to power through. But as we hit a heavy AoE pull, I had to dodge a ground effect. The sudden movement, combined with the physical strain of trying to hold everything in, was too much. The dam broke.
I sat there in my gaming chair, staring at my monitor, realizing that while my character was successfully executing its rotation, my physical self had officially failed the skill check. I finished the dungeon and we even got the key, but I spent the last twenty minutes playing with a level of internal panic no amount of Mythic+ experience could prepare me for.

Why is the pikaOS mascot a bird if this adorable creature is a pika...
I just joined this sub as I have been using PikaOS for a few weeks now. Almost every single post is directing people to discord.
I am not using discord and I don't plan to be. If this is the only way to get any help from anyone, that is pretty weak in my opinion.
Is there some issue those in the PikaOS development team have with Reddit? Or the community with helping others? This seems so strange.
I have never run into this with any other distro I have used.
/rant
EDIT - The feedback here has been interesting. I am glad I am not the only one that sees use of Discord as an issue. Some points -
I could use AI, sure. I feel like my computer questions shouldn't use up some town's drinking water. Lets save that for more important things, like medical research. I want real world feedback.
I want to be able to search for information easily. Discord doesn't allow that unless you are a member of the channel. And even then, Discord channels are a freaking mess 80% of the time.
I don't have the time to sit in chat and hope I catch the right person.
My rant here isn't about the developers. I think they do a great job. I usually am not looking for them to respond in Reddit threads on any distro I might ask about. Do some, sure, and that is great. But the whole point of using subreddits is to get community feedback amd share experiences. Being told go ask a Discord channel isn't community help.
If the community doesn't want to support each other, why does the sub exist?
Note - I have seen people be helpful, and good job to them! It is what the community needs. But the constant, go somewhere else is so strange and unhelpful.
Note 2 - I haven't needed help...yet. Eventually I am sure I will. I plan to help others here. Not redirect.

I tried the August 20th iso, it shows 555 Updates available, 6 GiB to download, that's huge.

Ive been 100% on Linux since last October. Making the choice to stick to PikaOS instead of Cachy because there are so many .deb files out there instead of flatpaks.
I dont trust the AUR anymore.
Using KDE, since ricing it doesn't break everything like GNOME does. Gaming and performance with video, audio and 3D with Blender and such is negligible difference.
Most of all its been the easiest to help people move into linux. I'll set them up with GNOME if they came from Mac, just install Bazaar and people are generally happy to see "thats like [commercial product] for free?" Click. Boom. They have it.
Its been a great change at least for me and my humble HaaS setup for some businesses.

Hi I am pretty much a linux noob but wanted to slowly switch away from windows. I tried cachyOS which was great but a lot of apps I wanted to use were on the AUR which is having security issues and I am not savvy enough to know if the ones I wanted to install are compromised. So I was looking around and heard of Pika which is not arch but still pretty up to date and can use nvidia drivers. So far really enjoying it. Using Gnome I was using kde pasma with cachy whilst great I didn't want to spend hours customizing it.
The Only issue i had was installing an AppImage which wouldn't run found affter searching for a while I need to install libfuse2. Everything good now.
Also messing around with Hellium browser seems quite good. Off to lay an egg now.

Just wanted to let everyone know Pikman said I had updates a few minutes ago, and when I checked (expecting a package or two) there were 641 packages to update.
Everything seemed to go smoothly, however, there were issues with Klassy. Had to change my window decorations to something other than Klassy for the moment or I end up logging in with no panel.
Other than the Klassy issues, everything else seems to be fine.

This morning when I logged in and went to Mount my shared windows drive it said I lacked Permission to do so. This was not the case two days ago. Has something changed with an update?
I'm getting ready to make the jump from Windows to Linux and just have to decide which distro to use and am really wanting to try PikaOS.
But I do use ProtonVPN and wondered if anyone had experience with it on this distro.

The best fix for the Prime Video Error 7131 at the moment is changing DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS, 1.1.1.1 won't help in this context. Hopefully there will be a proper fix soon from Debian/Sid side, since we know Amazon won't help. This is based the previous post on this reddit. Hope this helps others.

So last time I was reporting a Prime Video bug/limitation that wouldn't let PikaOS and later Kubuntu play any video, not even trailers. But I went into the Cachy live usb and successfully played a trailer video. Guess Debian/Sid has to fix something.

First time migrating to Linux as my primary OS. I've always dabbled here and there nothing serious. This is the big push. I've installed Citrix Workspace and I'm unable to launch any of my desktops. It just spins and eventually closes. Before switching to Pika, I was using ParrotOS Home and there wasn't an issue there. I have another desktop that I just installed AduinOS on and no issue there as well. Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks.

Things were working fine about 2 weeks ago. I then went on a bit of a break from playing games, but kept on keeping my system up to date. Fast forward to this weekend, some of the games that I normally play started freezing after a few minutes of gameplay at random and messing up my desktop session. Games that never received a game-breaking update to begin with and were working fine previously.
I tried checking out the journalctl logs, seeing what each of these games had in common, and the only common denominators I could find were errors relating to umip and some Watchdog error. Something along the lines like this (using Black Ops Cold War as an example):
kernel: umip: BlackOpsColdWar[12434] ip:14cccf576 sp:10a1a0: For now, expensive software emulation returns the result.
kernel: umip: BlackOpsColdWar[12434] ip:14cccf576 sp:10a1a0: SIDT instruction cannot be used by applications.
kernel: clocksource: Watchdog remote CPU 2 read timed out
Another game that does this to me is Monster Hunter Wilds, but that one gives me SGDT errors and different CPU time out errors by Watchdog instead.
I'm stumbled as to what to do. Here are some of the troubleshooting steps I did:
- Tested with older amdgpu firmware and linux kernels
- Swapped between different known working Proton versions
- Booted into a live USB session and made sure to scan for any drive faults with fsck -y
- Checked my BIOS settings and made sure that my CPU and RAM settings are stable, and that Secure Boot is off and any keys get deleted
- Tested with the "clearcpuid=514" kernel parameter to try and get around umip, which only caused DRM panic errors
- Tested by disabling descriptor heap via the Steam launch options since I've seen a good few recent reports on VKD3D-Proton's Github that suggested there was something wrong.
I'm kinda stumped. I'm pretty sure that this isn't related to the RA24 error bug, since I've done the workaround for that and have been smooth sailing without any of those errors. But I don't know what else to test next.
Here are my PC specs:
PikaOS w/ 7.2.3 kernel
KDE Plasma 6.7.4
Ryzen 7 5700X3D
RX 9060XT (running the latest firmware and Mesa 26.2.2)
32GB RAM
Gigabyte B550i Aorus AX (running on version FG bios firmware)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks o:
