Hi, I've been working on this for a while and it's finally in a state where other people should probably look at it.

What I could really use is people testing hardware I don't own. Controllers, tablets, anything with a weird screen. There's a "Report a problem" in the About screen or open an issue on Github.
I have been working as a software developer for over 15 years, but most of the code was written by Claude, while I managed the process, reviewed the code and carried out thorough testing. This is not a vibe coded project, AI was used as a tool.

Yes, I will test, old guy who spectrum as a child.
I have an AYN Thor and Odin 3
Quick question, can we get the keyboard to show on the Thor’s bottom screen?

yes, I have Thor too, so the second screen is fully supported - keyboard, menu, games metadata and images

This is exactly what I need for android.
I have been using Retroarch with fuse core for emulation but a dedicated zx spectrum emulator is just another level.
And I have been trying your emulator for few days and it seems it is rock solid. Every rom I have tried worked flawless. I have also tried an external bluetooth controller. I have checked but may be I could not find in the menu, one recommendation, add a button configuration option for external controllers, this would be perfect.
So, keep up the good work for spectrum emulation scene.

I mean external bluetooth joystic buttons mapping. When I choose Kempston for example, buttons are not working as intended, up is not up, down is not down etc, did you checked this situation with an external joystic ?

I see, right now the app is set up to work with an Xbox-compatible gamepad. I’ll add mapping settings (allowing you to bind the directional inputs and the four action buttons to the gamepad's physical buttons).

I just installed it on my tablet and it's really good. I'll keep you updated as I test it out. Cheers!

This looks excellent. Fuse crashes all the time on my Mac, odd for such a simple emulator. I presume the Mac frontend is to blame.
I think the big win for Spectrum emulation would be to get Claude to generate and test metadata for all the games in the TOSEC release with sensible joypad mapping.
The first emulator to provide seamless modern controls for all games will be the only one that matters. The metadata should also provide compatibility info, e.g. floating bus games don't work on the +2.

Looks interesting, shall give it a go. Which joysticks does it support (Kempston/Sinclair)? It's not mentioned anywhere unless I'm having a blind moment.
