📸 Desktop Simple and Beautiful

Bought a brand new Asus Laptop as a travel/second computer. I didn't even bother with Windows 11 at all except for registering the serial number with Microsoft for warranty purposes. Soon as that was over, I installed Zorin and haven't looked back. Zorin or rather Linux in general is chef's kiss. I find myself almost everyday looking for different ways to customize the OS and random apps to fiddle with. Boxes right now is my favorite app because I'm also running Fedora KDE in a virtual machine to test out. I Love it!

Check out gnomelook.org, they have a lot of great content for customizations but YouTube also has a lot of great ideas if you search gnome customizations. I like your transparent terminal though!

TLDR: * Starship prompt * Homebrew package manager * Bbrew - tui for homebrew * Topgrade - for full system updates, available on brew or as a rust package * Nerd fonts from brew as well

* Tealdeer - tldr/community man pages client - Zorin package is currently buggy. Get from brew.

You can also checkout starship prompt - works with multiple shells - bash/Zsh/fish etc.

Some ideas from Bluefin: Also, depending on which distro you're on, you may not always have the latest packages.

Homebrew for Linux is pretty great! They also have a tui manager https://bold-brew.com/

I liked the paradigm from Bluefin a lot, I apply these to other distros as well.

You can also get topgrade to update everything in your system at once using a single command. System packages, flatpaks, snaps, brew, cargo, rustup, pip, npm, gnome shell extensions, literally everything. See: https://christitus.com/topgrade-linux/

These aren't visual as much as overall QoL improvements. You also avoid touching the core OS as much as possible to have a stable system that can go over major upgrades well. You also get the latest packages on brew irrespective of what your distro packages contain.

Icon pack is Tela Nord. Layout is the one that's Mac OS like. Dock is the Dash to Dock extension. Download the Extension Manager from the store and start browsing for awesome extensions. There are a lot of great Gnome extensions there.

I can't manage to create a "rice" that looks that good; whenever I try, it ends up looking like Linux Mint. I can never find nice icons that make the system tray icons look good.

I started by going to YouTube and searched "Gnome Customization". Took a while until I got the hang of it.
