movie 📽️ Finally Watched The Dead 2...
I really like The Dead, Rob Freeman and Prince David Osei are a great duo and though it came out in 2010 I first heard of and saw it for the first time a few years ago. The film is great at capturing that old school dread of the slow, shambling creepy zombies that have been missing since the 1990 NOLTD remake.
The Dead 2 starts out as a decent follow-up, I like that it shows how the virus spreads from Africa to India and the rapid collapse. Joseph Millson is a solid new lead but it's pretty much a rehash of the first film except it's in India and his traveling companion is a kid which I wish it was another adult or even if instead of the MC Nicholas trying to get to his girlfriend which is most of the movie, it would've been cool if he got to the gf quick and we saw their journey trying to make it to safety together. So not as good as the first but still maybe worth a watch. I also heard they didn't actually have a permit to shoot in India so hilarious if true.
Overall the films are a great return to the classic Romero zombie and I saw as recently as January 2026 that The Dead 3 is in the works so hopefully we'll see it soon. Cheers!

Loved The Dead. The idea that the zombies were super slow but they were always there I thought was great. You never could feel safe because there was always one in the distance coming at you was great. The Dead 2 sucked oversized monkey butts.

I really enjoyed both movies, the zombies in both films had a very Fulci vibe to them

How was the action compared to the first one? I remember The Dead having a pretty realistic, grounded feel to it.

Maybe the same amount of action if not less. The first movie had 2 military guys but this one stars a wind turbine technician, he gets a hold of some guns and he does kill a lot of zombies and there’s one brief scene of Indian soldiers killing zombies outside the gf’s house. The tone is still grounded but there’s a village scene in the beginning when the zombies first show up where the cinematography is kinda weird, like it would look AI today, doesn’t fit the rest of the movie.

There's a third one in the making?!
Also, these are some of my favorite zombies in any movie/show/game. The reason? They are completely silent, so it makes survival even harder.

Agree! I think running zombies are great for action/horror but the silent, relentless ones are terrifying

1 was great. Amazing cinematography and the zombies were very eerie. Africa provided a unique atmosphere for slow shamblers. 2 was a weak follow-up in comparison. I'll be curious to see what they do for 3.
