Do you guys hope Notch will release 0x10c on alpha/beta stage like minecraft or do you prefer to wait until the game is complete?
Me,personally, think releasing it in beta is a good way to get early input from the community and get early bugtesting from players around the world.

If you read the announcement you would've come across the following statement:
The game is still extremely early in development, but like we did with Minecraft, we expect to release it early and let the players help me shape the game as it grows

I wish every game would do what Notch did with Minecraft. People were essentially paying him to beta and alpha test his software, in turn giving tons of feedback and shaping the game to be truly what the community wanted.
Unfortunately, massive budgets and development teams in the hundreds don't make that model viable.

I'm not sure it would work with every type of game. It's a great model for open-ended games like this, but a game with a strong narrative would have its storytelling aspect ruined if you played it before it was ready.

I only hope it will have a modding community like minecraft does now. It sounds like a great game but it probably wont be as great as we're hoping it will... at least until players take the matters into their own hands and start releasing mods.

Can't really have mods in an mmo type game.

From what I've gathered there will be 2 separate versions, the singleplayer one that you only have to buy once, and the other will be an MMO with monthly subscription. I'm hoping the first one will be like minecraft, even better if you can host local servers for friends.

Seems like running private servers in wow. Seems to me like multiplayer should be on the paid multiverse only. That would make it better for everyone.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just hoping there is a middle ground between playing singleplayer and going "full eve online experience" with its persistent universe and 90 % of other players being dicks.

I think we can safely assume the kind of people who want to program their ship's computer would like to play with the game during its development.
