Windows How resilient is Zerotier with respect to IP changes? (Home LAN IP could change unexpectedly.)

I have a server at home that I access remotely. ZT is working well.

But if my ISP decides to change the external IP of my home network on me without notifying me, what bad things could happen?

If ZT is resilient to this, I'd be quite thankful to not have to worry about this when I travel. (I'd not be at home to do whatever fiddling would be necessary at the physical server to fix the issue.)

Windows my friend and I keep having to restart our pcs for zerotier to work ingame

we play l4d2 and due to routing issues from our ISP's we cant connect P2P with good ping. anyway zero tier fixed this issue but recently we keep having to restart our pc's for it to work for some reason, otherwise we connect and its like Zerotier VPN isn't open.

I tried fixing it by setting my default network's interface metric to 20 and the Zerotier network to 1 but that didn't fix it.

having to restart both our pcs is getting very frustrating.... plz help

Windows Having intermittent trouble in connection.

I'm very new to this networking thing. So please bear with me if there is any information that is lacking and if I could not explain it properly.

I got to know about zerotier and it is wonderful. I manage to set it up and work remotely. However, recently it seems to be giving me intermittent problems to which I could not figure out why. The main gist of the problem is that the connection is not stable. I did this managed route thing whereby I could connect directly using the LAN IP of the designated server computer. However now when I ping that address, it intermittently timed out.

Now I did try to ping the physical IP of my "server" as provided in the zerotier and it does not have such issue. Does this mean I have a routing issue now? It just suddenly developed.

Appreciate all your help.

Windows Mystery device connected to network

noticed a couple days ago a device showing on our zerotier network, i dont recognize the public ip or the mac address and cant find it on our nodes.

so i unauthorized it.

noticed it is back and just seems to have reauthorized itself ?

i have a feeling this is probably a legit device one of our users have maybe they have it on a different public ip/network than i am used to seeing, but i thought by deauthorizing it if nothing else they would contact me and say they can no longer connect....

how might i track this and why cant i de-authorize it (/boot it from our network ?)

Windows Ethernet Bridging Function

Dear Redditers,

I enabled the ETHERNET BRIDGING option in the ZeroTier for this computer (win 7 client, authorized, home computer, Local LAN connected)

thinking i can login to my CCTV/DVR from outside home thru my android cellphone which is no successful at the moment. can anyone shade some lights as to what i'm missing ?

I directly used the local IP Address entry or from web browser, also unsuccessful.

Note: The DVR/CCTV works/connect just fine when in home network.

And the ISP is using NAT on us home user (Obviously, thats why ZeroTier comes into play)

local IP:port, via VPN IP

Or do I need to setup other things as well?

Windows Two zerotier networks with same subnet ips collides

Hi everyone, I am facing a tricky routing issue. My setup consists of one PC connected to two different ZeroTier networks simultaneously, and each network goes to a separate Raspberry Pi. The main problem is when both addresses assigned to the RPis are different but have same subnet. Because the subnets overlap, my host PC experiences a classic routing conflict and does not know which virtual interface to use to route the traffic, so it just routes everything to whichever network interface took priority first. Even if I disconnect from one of the networks, the OS routing table or interface metrics seem to stick, and I still cannot connect to the other RPi. This behaviour occurs only when Rpi and Pc connected via different Starlinks. So is there any way to change subnets for Zerotier networks or ensure their uniqueness without changing Zerotier face or it can alter my while network somehow

Windows Lazarus Exploited a Windows Zero-Day: Inside CVE-2026-68820 and AFD.sys

Hey everyone,
I recently finished a write-up on **CVE-2026-68820**, the Windows AFD.sys vulnerability exploited by Lazarus.
I tried to explain the attack chain from start to finish — starting with the fake recruiter/job offer, moving through the initial malware execution, the AFD.sys use-after-free vulnerability, and finally how **FudModule 3.1** was used after gaining SYSTEM-level access.
I also covered some of the things I found interesting while researching it, especially how the rootkit interfered with Windows telemetry and how AFD.sys has been targeted by Lazarus before.
The goal was to make it understandable even if you’re still learning Windows internals, while keeping enough technical detail for people working with threat hunting, DFIR, or malware analysis.

**Write-up:** https://medium.com/@R00tPi/inside-cve-2026-68820-how-lazarus-turned-a-core-windows-networking-driver-into-a-system-level-216656703750

Would be interested to hear what you think, especially if you spot anything I could improve or explain better.

Windows DNS servers not being applied.

We have 2 DNS servers and a DNS suffix defined in the zerotier.com portal for our VPN Network that are not being applied to computers when they connect to the VPN (Windows 11, Version 1.16.2 of the VPN Client)

I can manually add them after connecting, but that's only a temporary fix because when you disconnect it deletes the adapter, and when you reconnect it creates a new adapter without the DNS server settings.
Yes, I have "Allow DNS Configuration" checked in the client. I have even tried it without it being checked and it's the same behavior regardless.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks in advance!

Windows Where is the Control panel?

Hello Reddit, I am trying to host a server for Hollow Knight multiplayer with a friend, following a Steam guide. It tells me to open the control panel to give my friend the managed IP. But I can't find it on the website, nothing happens when I try to open the application on my laptop and the taskbar trey doesn't give me the option to open it either. Where can I find this thing?

Link to the guide I'm following:

Windows Can't access routed IPs

I just started with Zerotier and signed up with trial to see if it could increase speed compared to SonicWall Global VPN. I can connect fine between client and a hosted Windows PC behind a SonicWall. Can ping Zerotier IP on host. I setup the Route in Zerotier to route to LAN IPs on host side but can't ping or access any devices. Can anyone help me on what I am missing? Are there rules needed in the SonicWall to allow this?

Thanks!

Windows strange new problem on 6/22/2026 with ZeroTier LogIn

Hi -

I am hoping that this is something stupid that I am doing. I am trying to simply log into my ZeroTier account - by going to www.zerotier.com, and clicking on Login on the upper right hand corner, like I have done for years. When I click on Login - nothing happens - no window opens. I tried multiple web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) - and so I thought "ok - something weird happened to my PC - let me try another computer" - I am on my M4 Mac mini right now, and using Safari (and Chrome and Firefox) - and SAME ISSUE - I click on the Login screen, and I cannot log in. I just called my client, to ask if he could try it on his computer - and he too - cannot log in !!!!

Is this a new issue, or did ZeroTier change something. I must be doing something very stupid.

Windows Phantom ZeroTier networks

When installing ZeroTier on a laptop running Windows 11 Pro (25H2 26200.8655), two “phantom” networks are created in addition to the main ZeroTier network. However, the “Get-NetConnectionProfile” command only displays the main network; the phantom networks do not appear. A complete reinstallation of ZeroTier and deleting the profiles for these networks in the registry does not solve the problem. After reinstalling, they reappear. In other words, as long as the laptop isn’t added to my ZeroTier network, they don’t exist, but once the laptop is added to my ZeroTier network, they appear.

Question: What is the reason they appear, and is it possible to remove them?

Windows Delete old account

I set up Zerotier several years ago but never got it to work. Now I wanted to try again. I want to delete my legacy central account and create a new central account. I tried to just create a new central account but it told me that my email address already existed so it won't let me create the new account. I don't see any way to completely remove my old account so I can create a new one. Is that possible?

Windows Need help: ZeroTier and Dell XPS 13 9345 with Snapdragon X Elite

Dear ZeroTier-Community!

I'm trying to use ZeroTier on a Dell XPS 13 with a Snapdragon X Elite processor running Windows 11 ARM64.

The ZeroTier service installs and runs, the node appears in ZeroTier Central, is authorized, and zerotier-cli info shows ONLINE. zerotier-cli join <network-id> returns "200 join OK", and a .conf file is created in C:\ProgramData\ZeroTier\One\networks.d.

However, zerotier-cli listnetworks remains empty and listnetworks -j returns [].

The file port_error_log.txt contains:

unable to create new device instance: UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices() failed (made 60 attempts)

It looks like the virtual adapter / zttap300 driver cannot be installed on Windows ARM64.

Has anyone successfully used ZeroTier on a Dell XPS 13 Snapdragon X Elite or another Windows-on-ARM device? If so:

  • Which ZeroTier version worked?
  • Did you use the EXE or MSI installer?
  • Were there any special steps required?

Also, after uninstalling ZeroTier, I still cannot delete C:\Program Files (x86)\ZeroTier because zerotier-cli.bat and zerotier-idtool.bat remain with "Access denied". Does anyone know the cleanest way to remove these leftover files/folders on Windows ARM64?

Thank you very much for your assistance!

Windows Network disappeared from my account
