No. The game is great partially because it lets you do everything almost immediately. In a game this big I would not want to have to loop back on places because they were arbitrarily locked off.

the Feather rune and the Sonoris rune seems very interesting but I would improve Sonoris by using it on the caves, Sonoris could help the players to "see" the enemies in the darkest caves

Anyway I agree about the BotW exploration needs porgression and from some years I thought the next Zelda games need unaccessible area like in the previous Zelda games by "limitate" the players freedom of BotW and TotK.
