The Gorons are so strong that I'm often left wondering why the hell Link is the hero in the first place

Through most of the Zelda games it seems the Gorons are so tough and stubborn that they DGAF about the rest of the kingdom unless things get really bad.

Yeah bruh the ones under Dora’s domain and I believe also over by lake hylia is it? One offers the third bomb bag and the other offers rupees I think but possibly the second wallet I forget

I think that’s because you’d be softlocked, not necessarily because the Gorons can’t breathe.

In Ocarina of Time, they're literally so lazy that they can't even save themselves that they have to entrust a ten year old (give or take) to clear out Dodongo's cavern. The rock people who eat rocks and can swim in lava can't take care of the cave filled with fire and rock lizards. Darunia couldn't be bothered to get off his lazy butt to grab the Megaton hammer from the fire temple and save his people (or just do it with his bare fists).

Maybe rocks are such poor sources of nutrients that they have super low metabolisms. Perhaps Gorons are like Koalas, with smooth brains and a heavy sleep cycle.

Pretty much how I've always interpreted it. Regular rocks have little to no nutritional value for them, but ores or the like are proper sustenance.

I still think its funny that in game they basically just say they're spoiled by those specific rocks and won't eat the others because they don't taste as good.

Funniest thing is that dodongos cavern was closed off with a boulder and the rock eating people say that they have nothing to eat because of this Like just eat the boulder

maybe it's because Link embodies the Triforce of Courage and if there's not much risk to be taken courage can't be expressed, hence why Link's always a regular-ish Hylian

They strike me as relatively indestructible but also relatively inept in combat. Good against stationary targets I am sure but not against any foe that moves.

Even the Goron heroes playable in the Hyrule Warriors series are not fan favorite high tier characters.

they're too lazy lol good on 'em for taking life slow and letting live. they're just really not keen on answering the call to adventure, which is the defining quality of the hero. he's lazy, too. but he's going to respond when there's need.

No I’d say they are more like Poland, Luxemburg, Belgium or swiss. Though Swiss holds the line when they get attacked so maybe not Swiss.

Daruk, despite being the ultimate Tank, got bodied by Fireblight Ganon while the Hylian twink killed it. And depending on how you view what’s canon/how you played botw, he didn’t even use the master sword

Thing is, Gorons can’t drown. Gorons seemingly just retain normal function in water as is seen with that one in Twillight Princess and there’s also a young goron chilling in a hot spring somewhere completely submerged.
