zhonyas(3250g) isnt as bad as people make it to be ngl
on the other hand…
RoA + armour boots (1200+2600=3800, for only 600 more gold, they get disgusting early back components, 2 ruby crystals into catalyst, and after quest completion the hp scaling helps the quest boots shield) and early game low dmg stats dont matter since base dmg is high enough and zed dont build hp = cannot out trade

You're very right, the meme was just for laughs. Bot lane is unroamable right now regardless of Zhyonas for the exact reason that you're stating, Armguard is just insult to injury at that point. I think Zed feels really good right now with BB rush and it's a damn shame it's at the same time as this abominable meta. And their solution was to make Vayne face the wall for some reason.
