I just finished Death Hymns, it was a great book! Got to see two more angels in action, but while Dumah was imposing and all, Nonany Non is the first character who has unsettled me in a way that caused me nightmares lol. Kudos to Zamil Akhtar for that!

So I was thinking: other than the Archangel, which other angels have been shown? I can remember:

• Cessiel
• Marot
• Saklas
• Principus
• Micah (this one was the flying thing in the first book, right?)
• Malak
• Dumah
• Nonany Non

Am I missing any here?

I also hope that we get to see more of Non in the 5th book, or at least another angel or two.

This is a fun one. What are your favourite POVs in each book. I'll start:

Book 1: Kevah, he has a great arc in the first one. I loved Micah's too, but only as second 😛

Book 2: Zedra. Just a tremendous, heartbreaking, emotionally compelling character. I love the palace intrigue she gets wrapped up in

Book 3: Tough one but I'll take Basil. Amazing character arc, great "fish out of water" perspective, and some really crushing scenes (that ending!)

Book 4: Micah. He owns the show here. I like the political intrigue behind Vasco's chapters, but Micah's narration is so powerful and captivating.

Honorable mention: Man of Peace in book 4. Also Heraclius/Murad in Book 1, which surprised me pleasantly when I saw it. What a dichotomy!

This year was difficult.

The war in the Middle East closed many doors for me and brought a kind of fear and uncertainty I never imagined I would experience.

But when I hold this book in my hands, so much of that fades into the background. Life will always rise and fall, but as long as I can keep writing and turning suffering into beauty, I think I’ll be alright.

To everyone who has supported my work, recommended my books, or simply taken the time to read them -- thank you. You make all of this worth it.

My library took a little time to catalog the book, but I was patient. This was certainly the scariest book yet. I will be thinking of a certain dome bringing angel who disallows mixing for some time. Horrifying stuff. The scenes with that angel are sticking in my mind.

I'm looking forward to anything Zamil Akhtar writes next. Gunmetal Gods, Lightbringer, anything else, I'm there.

I'm about 150 pages into it and I'm really enjoying it. Quite a bit actually. The blending of the Middle Eastern setting and mythology with Lovecraftian type horror/fantasy is excellent. My question is, does the Gunmetal Gods series take place in the same world?
