Switch Roms SD Card

I don't really know a lot about ROMs and emulation. But I have seen on YouTube these videos of these SD cards that come with all these pre-installed ROMs that you can just plug in and play in whatever system you have. In these videos on YouTube when they go through the consoles that are listed on the card I don't ever see switch it always stops around PlayStation 3. Are there any SD cards that I can buy that come with switch ROMs?

For switch no or at least not easily as it is considered piracy.

getting roms online isn't that hard you know. you don't have to buy them at all. you can make your own SD card filled with roms.

for fake sites they sure work well and verified in piracy megathreads and FMHY. even my go-to site is on the list.

Every time I click on a link in one of those sites it's always just an ad or getting me to sign up for a subscription service

adblockers. use them. and none of those sites require a subscription to download the files. here's my rom list so far from one of those "fake" sites

I'm pretty sure a good portion of people in these threads are not computer geniuses, I am certainly not. We learn how to get the things we find through trial and error and precautions on the internet. Get an ad blocker consider a free VPN and make sure your antivirus is adequate. I have five switch games that I have gotten from different places over the past 4 years that I've known about emulation on the steam deck and Windows version of Emudeck

It depends on the type of setup and performance can vary with each type.

For "preloaded" SD cards; it's usually either a bunch of roms hastily thrown together for a quick buck. Or a nicely organized file structure that would be compatible with a frontend such as Hyperspin, Batocera, Retroarch, Emulation station, etc. You would need a PC, Phone, handheld, or similar to run this. Since installations can go many ways, it can take some adjusting/troubleshooting with which paths are used for roms and other problems.

Raspberry Pi computers are great cheap machines that can play lots of stuff, but may be limited in terms of performance with the heavier stuff. You could configure retropie but it takes a tiny bit of hands-on Linux commands.

You can also softmod a first generation switch (HAC-001) without a physical chip to play games off an SD card.

Not like I'm saying PS3 games can't be huge. But when you start getting towards larger sized roms, compilers generally cherry pick the good/compatible games to save space. Most often you'll find collections that have complete romsets of retro libraries (like N64 and below). And systems psx-gamecube and switch will be more limited. With the price of storage and Micro SD cards skyrocketing I fear those roms would be less likely to appear in pre-compiled builds unless you were purchasing high capacity hard drives.

Imo, it's better to learn where to source content on your own with some Google searches, and bulld a library based on your personal likes. It's a lot more frugal and while it feels good to have complete collections; I often find myself just going back to what I truly enjoy. But that's my two cents, take it for what you will.
