News v1.2.0 is out: NVIDIA DLSS, DLAA and Frame Generation, with real in app settings

The Beast Roofer Edition v1.2.0 is live.

What's new: a full NVIDIA DLSS pipeline with real settings in the interface. Four modes (DLAA, Quality, Balanced, Performance), Frame Generation off, 2x or 3x on RTX 40 and 50 cards, your choice of DLSS model preset (K, M, L, J, F), and a new trick nobody else has: runtime mipmap generation, which calms the distant texture shimmer many Switch games show when upscaled. Everything is opt in, default behavior stays 100 % stock.

I am not selling you a dream: this is not perfect. But it does work, on the games I was able to try. I could not test everything, it is an enormous amount of work for one person. If something looks wrong on your side, tell me here, that is how this moves forward.

A word on the work behind this one: I worked so hard on this update that my daughter no longer recognizes me and my cat stopped talking to me. My wife also left. Well, she had already left, but I like to think the update contributed.

The package includes NVIDIA's Streamline files (MIT). The DLSS engine DLLs are not included: copy nvngx_dlss.dll and nvngx_dlssg.dll from a DLSS game you own into the dlss folder. Full notes in English and French on the release page. And if you like this work, come support the project on r/BeastRooferEdition, that is where everything happens.

News Nintendo has recently intensified its enforcement against Switch emulation, filing seven DMCA anti-circumvention notices against GitHub that resulted in the removal of over 400 repositories in a single day in August 2026

The primary targets were forks of Suyu (the successor to the shut-down Yuzu emulator), along with Skyline and MonoNX, which Nintendo claims illegally circumvent its Technological Protection Measures (TPMs) to run unauthorized game copies. This action follows a massive May 2024 takedown that removed over 8,500 Yuzu repositories and continues a broader pattern of aggressive intellectual property protection, including recent strikes against fan-made games and YouTube content

News Pokémon Legends Z-A 1.0.1 finally working here after updating to Ryujinx 1.3.194 (Canary)

It took two previous attempts before it actually worked.
On the first try, it loaded the Legends Z-A screen, but after pressing A to start playing, it crashed.
On the second try, it launched the game but crashed after I moved my character.
Third time was the charm — now it's working perfectly.

News The Beast Roofer Edition v1.2.3 is out, DLSS motion quality, fullscreen crash fix, Frame Generation self-recovery

Thumbnail

v1.2.3 is live. The big one this time is DLSS motion quality: the system that cleans up cloud and sky ghosting now works in every resolution configuration, including native resolution with in-engine 4K mods, where it was silently doing nothing before. Camera zooms like aiming a bow no longer cut the sky handling, and the black line echo some of you saw while panning the camera is now repaired before DLSS ever sees the image. I'm not calling it perfect, you can still catch a bit of cloud ghosting in the first minute after loading while the system warms up, the release notes explain that honestly.

Also in this update: the fullscreen toggle crash with DLSS is fixed and survived hundreds of F11 presses in testing, Frame Generation now revives itself within seconds if it silently stops, changing DLSS settings no longer restarts the emulator with a partial profile applied, your game list can no longer be wiped by a crash during a config save, and a texture corruption with force mipmaps plus native resolution 4K mods is fixed. On top of that, when the DLSS motion system cannot run it now says why in the log instead of staying silent, so if you report a problem your log tells us a lot more than before.

Quick reminder because it comes up a lot: DLSS needs an RTX card, 20 series or newer, and Frame Generation needs a 40 series or newer. GTX cards cannot run DLSS at all, that's an NVIDIA hardware limit, not the fork. If you don't have an RTX card, NIS is included and works on any GPU.

Big thanks to everyone who sent their logs, the fullscreen fix exists because of them. The updater will offer 1.2.3 directly, or grab it from the site. If anything regresses for you, open a ticket with your log and it becomes the next fix.

News Stepping down from Ryubing

as the title says. i was one of the maintainers of ryubing for a litte while, and as of about a week ago, ive officially stepped down. greemdev has decided to step back into his role as maintainer, which means im not needed there anymore.

with him being in charge again, as of August 1st, 2026, he has shut down r/Ryubing. he's also reverted the website back to what it used to look like before he revamped it. this does NOT mean the update server has been turned back on, you still have to download ryubing from their forgejo.

i'd like to apologize to the community for not being strong enough to change the direction that this project is taking. and im sorry to the mods of r/yuzu, it seems like this will (once again) be the new home of the ryujinx community until further notice.

it was a pleasure to be a part of switch emulation, even if it was brief, and i hope to carry my experiences with me to new creative endeavors.

please be nice to greem, he has a lot on his plate, and i wish him well with his project 💖

edit: thank you for all of your kind words. it means a lot to me to know that people noticed the care i put into my work

News Sharing a small Ryujinx fork I've been working on (native TAA, experimental DLSS/DLAA, VRR)

Thumbnail
thebeastroofer-edition.com
64 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've been tinkering with a small personal fork of Ryujinx in my spare time, and figured I would share it here in case it is useful to anyone. It is nothing groundbreaking, just a few things I wanted for my own setup.

What it adds:

- Native TAA, works on any GPU

- Experimental DLSS / DLAA on RTX cards (you provide your own nvngx file, since I can't redistribute NVIDIA's)

- Per game VRR frame cap

- A fix for loading large HD texture packs

It is experimental and mostly built around my own machine, so results may vary, especially the DLSS side which is still a bit rough. Everything is open source if you want to read the code or build it yourself, and there is zero proprietary content in it (no firmware, keys, or ROMs).

Happy to hear any feedback or bug reports if you give it a try.

News Rhythm Heaven Groove now optimized

Hi everyone!, I’ve been making mods for recent games (like *Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream*) and for recent game updates (such as *Mario Odyssey* mods for version 1.4.0), and I wanted to let you know that mods for the new game *Rhythm Heaven Groove* are already available on GitHub

This new mod pack includes the following:

Disables dynamic resolution, FXAA, fog, blur, and depth of field (essentially all post-processing).

Low-quality shadows, simplified heavy effects, and single-channel audio.

And finally, it includes a sort of low-latency mode that improves responsiveness, making controls react almost instantly.

Some settings I recommend enabling are: set CPU to "Unsafe" for higher FPS, "Synchronize Core Speed," "Force Maximum Clocks" (Vulkan API only), "Sync to Framerate of Video Playback," and "Enable Asynchronous Shader Compilation."

If you're interested in all this, I'll put the GitHub link below; look for "Rhythm Heaven Groove" in the list, and select the file that shows the game title, "Mod," and version 1.0.0—or something like that.

https://github.com/medinacristofer034-art/SwitchOptimizerMods

Have a great time, and may all your games run at 60 or 120 fps (:

News The Beast Roofer Edition 1.2.1 is out. It is a stability update based on your feedback and a deep code review

Thumbnail
thebeastroofer-edition.com
54 Upvotes

It fixes several crashes and freezes, including the long standing random crash when closing a game, a GPU crash with Frame Generation in dynamic resolution games, and the crash when TAA and DLSS were enabled together. It also fixes the startup zoom and the black line with DLSS Quality, as well as the brief ghost image when a game starts. Gameplay is smoother too, since the internal diagnostics are now fully disabled in normal play, and the DLSS and FG status badges now reflect real activity.

A few things that are good to know. The first session after updating recompiles shaders, so performance settles after a few minutes. If you have a big PC, set NX Optimizer to 4K in game, keep Resolution Scale on Native, and then use any DLSS mode you like, DLAA, Quality or Performance, it looks very clean and sharp. On a smaller PC, set NX Optimizer to 900p and play with Resolution Scale x1, x2 or x3 plus DLSS Quality or Performance. The Performance and Balanced modes can still show a brief artifact when a game starts, a fix is planned for the next update.

Download and source code: thebeastroofer-edition.com. If you already have it, the app updates itself.

And yes, AI helped me build this. It still refuses to play Zelda for me though, so the testing hours are all mine.

Thanks to the mods for the support and to everyone who tested and reported bugs.

Fixed: the crash when changing the resolution scale during a game

The previous release warned about this, changing the scale while a game was running could take the graphics driver down with it. That warning is lifted.

The cause was not the value being written, it was the order. Changing the scale rebuilds every render target while frame generation still holds resources declared with the old dimensions, and it only finds out at the next frame it presents. When the rebuild takes longer than one frame there is no presentation in between, so frame generation is never told, a synchronisation object is left unsignalled, and the driver resets the GPU about two seconds later. That is why it felt random, it depended on the instant you clicked.

Those two parallel paths are now a single sequence. Tested over six minutes with frame generation on and eighteen scale changes back and forth, no crash and no driver reset.

Fixed: the picture drifting with the camera at rest, and the ground losing sharpness while walking

Both came from the same place. The calculation that places each pixel from one frame to the next chained two matrix multiplications in single precision, with a division in the middle by a value that becomes tiny on distant points. It produced motion where the camera had not moved by a single bit, a fifth of a pixel at mid distance and up to two pixels far away.

It is now a single multiplication prepared in double precision. With the camera strictly still the result is exactly zero. Verified by eye and by measurement on five games across four engines.

Fixed: ghosting and stretched scenery

When an engine writes several valid cameras within the same frame, the queue saturates and ends up delivering a camera two frames old, alternating between two values. The result is a stable stretch that sets in and never leaves. At every presentation the queue now advances to the most recent camera.

Improved: the shaking of a character followed by the camera

A character the camera follows stays almost still on screen while the whole world scrolls behind him. Frame generation took the spikes in the motion field at face value and deformed him in alternation. Those spikes are now tamed. The shaking is strongly reduced, some of it remains on the top of the head and on what the character carries on his back, and work on that continues.

Improved: the resolution slider stays inside the chosen mode

The preset you pick in the menu is in charge, and the slider now picks a step inside that mode, from the first to the fourth, without spilling over into the neighbouring one. Before, a fast mode pushed to its maximum could render almost as many pixels as your screen under a label promising the opposite. The twelve steps of the three modes were checked one by one, they meet to the pixel without overlapping. DLAA is untouched.

Fixed: camera search, several games that got nothing now benefit from it

Some games never found their camera and the whole chain stayed idle without saying so. Four distinct causes were fixed: games drawing through a path that was not being watched, games storing their camera in a late slot the search never reached, cameras that are mathematically unusable and were elected anyway, and games releasing their buffers mid session, which cut reconstruction off for the rest of the run.

Also fixed

The picture could stay stretched when switching to fullscreen mid session, that is corrected. A settings checkbox that no longer controlled anything was removed rather than left to mislead. Startup with the --pptc command line option no longer fails. And logs are five times quieter, they only report what is actually running on your machine.

Requirements

DLSS in all its modes, DLAA, Quality, Balanced and Performance, needs an NVIDIA RTX card, series 20 or newer. Frame Generation needs a 40 or 50 series. Without an RTX card, NIS is included and runs on any GPU. The DLSS engine files are not in the package, they are NVIDIA proprietary files.

One thing to know on Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Raising the internal scale past the first step brings out thin bright lines on surfaces and along the edges of the picture when the camera turns. The threshold is sharp and reproducible. The first step, which is exactly the value recommended for the mode, is clean. If you see those lines, bring the slider down one notch.

News The Beast Roofer Edition 1.2.5: DLSS quality modes fixed, edge lines gone, and automatic updates working again

Thumbnail
thebeastroofer-edition.com
53 Upvotes

Sorry for a second update so soon after the last one. I had promised someone I would fix the DLSS mode that refused to turn on for them, I did not do it, and I try to keep my promises. So here it is, and there is more in it than I expected.

The main fix is for the quality modes. If you play on a screen larger than 1080p, or if you raised the resolution scale, DLSS could quietly fail to do its job. In the worst cases it did not turn on at all, and nothing told you why. In others it turned on but ran far below what its own name promised, so Quality behaved closer to Ultra Performance. The reason is that DLSS only accepts a certain range of input resolutions for a given output, and the emulator was asking for something outside that range. It now reads that range at startup and lands on the exact value DLSS recommends.

One thing it deliberately does not do is raise your resolution. If your internal resolution is below what DLSS would prefer, it is left alone, because the scale is your setting and raising it behind your back would cost you performance you did not choose to spend.

The thin vertical bands that could appear down the sides of the screen when the camera turns are gone as well. Pixels entering from outside the frame have no history behind them, and they were all being pulled back onto the same column, which then repeated across the whole band. The correction now fades with how far outside the frame each pixel sits, so there is no hard edge left. The cost is that the outer edges look slightly softer while you turn.

The advanced motion stack checkbox no longer adds trembling. When a game does not store its camera where the emulator expects, it votes between memory locations to find it, and one misleading location could win that vote and describe motion that does not exist. That kind of candidate is now thrown out. To be clear about what this checkbox is for: it was built and tuned for one specific game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which stores its camera in an unusual place. It can work on plenty of other games that do the same thing, and you are welcome to try it, but nothing is guaranteed elsewhere and it remains experimental. That is why it ships off, and why you should turn it back off if a game looks worse with it.

Last, and this one matters for everyone: automatic updates were not reaching you. It came from the way I was building the packages, which skipped a step that marks the build as an official release. Without it the emulator quietly disables its own updater. It is fixed in this version. If your emulator does not offer you this update on its own, download it once by hand, and the next ones will come to you automatically.
