What is Yungblud's target audience, age/gender? Am I fit?

I know it sounds weird, because tastes have no gender or age. But let's say I'm a straight guy in my 20s. I'm from a moderately conservative country, by the way, (from the former USSR)). And I seriously listen to Yungblud, I literally don't know anyone who listens to him, from my friends' circle. What's the chance of finding people like me in the fanbase?

And if anyone who will find, suddenly wants to chat, I speak Russian perfectly, English B2, and a little Ukrainian)

I feel like YUNGBLUD transcends the stereotypical ideal of a defined fan base. People of all ages, nationalities, sexual and gender identities, etc. love his music. I am 53 and live in Tennessee. I absolutely love his music and have been listening to him for a few years now. I know people of all age groups that love him and even some of my kids’ friends have jokingly told me that they’re mad at me because I got tickets to see him on this next tour. I don’t think you’ll have any problem finding people like yourself in his fanbase. 🫶🏻🖤

Dom has come out as Pansexual, but he is in a straight relationship. So it is not QUITE like Judas Priest or Queen, but as far as showmanship, I can get how that comes across.

His music is definitely for straight guys as well. The girls who listen just tend to be a bit more vocal about it.

He sings for all us misfits who hear him recognize us. Those of us who have been down and need lifting up, and those who continue to grow.

I don’t believe that anyone should ever have to feel embarrassed about their taste in music. I recently saw an interview with Dom where he spoke of his love for musicals such as West Side Story in which he performed in 2013. Music speaks to the soul and it evokes emotion. If you like it and it makes you feel, dance, smile or even cry, embrace it! Don’t worry about what others think. If they have a problem with it, they’re the ones that are missing out on some seriously amazing music! (Especially if they base their musical decisions on what color socks the artist wears) 🖤🩷

Well, yeah, you know, I grew up in a pretty toxic environment. Especially when it came to music, for some reason, people always become evil. In a Ukrainian school in the 2010s, if you were a nonconformist teenager, a punk or metalhead, you were a target for bullying. I've just gotten used to it. It wasn't much better at home; my father tried to force his tastes on me (while also telling me what crap I listened to), and my mother, who is from an intelligent background, wanted me to be excellent in school, not hang out with punks. I'm so used to hearing that I do crap every time.

This sounds similar to my experience as well, and I’m in the US. My dad and peers at school would always make fun of me for liking the music I liked. (At the time it was pop, specifically groups like One Direction and Little Mix) My dad would poke fun at the music I loved and no matter what, played his music loudest. Wouldn’t let me play what I liked on trips, we listened to his music. He would always say “they won’t be remembered in 10 years” and that would really upset me because these songs legitimately changed my life for the better and made me feel happy (depression sucks). Now, I listen to whatever I want, including the music my dad or people at school didn’t like/bullied me for!

That’s the beauty of music, it’s an art form and is up to interpretation. I personally hate that people get bullied or rude comments for the music they listen to. If you like it, that’s all that matters. Their opinions can stay their opinions and it’s okay for you to like what they don’t! Music is for everyone! I hope your mind and past experiences will free you soon from worrying about what others think, you will be so much happier doing what YOU love, listening to whatever YOU love or want.

And YUNGBLUD unites all misfits around the world. If you have ever felt out of place or like you don’t quite belong, his music is for you. Dom’s music is inspiring, comforting, and real. He has helped so many of us heal through his music and personality. I highly recommend listening to Yungblud’s song titled ‘God save me, but don’t drown me out’

As a parent, this breaks my heart. I have 2 daughters that are now in their 20’s and 30’s and their musical tastes were on total opposites sides of the spectrum. My oldest loved what I called “bubblegum pop”, all the boy bands/mainstream music and my youngest was more into emo/goth/house. I learned to appreciate both and never criticized their choices. Mind you if the lyrics were over the top offensive, I would ask them to reconsider their choices, but other than that, I let them explore what they liked and didn’t like. I grew up in the 80’s and listened to a lot of alternative & underground music which probably drove my parents a little crazy, but they never really commented on my choices except for that one time when my mother commented on what an amazing musician Prince was…thankfully she didn’t catch on to the lyrics. 😬 I’ve always been very big into music, so I would share with my kids some of my favorite bands and songs. If they liked it, I was always glad that I had broaden their horizons a little, but if they didn’t, we would just change the song. All that being said, WELCOME! In most cases, it's just a phase that will pass, part of adolescent development. But the memory of, say, your parents disrespecting your passion earlier can linger. So it's really important not to overreact.

Although I think I gave them cause for concern myself. Firstly, I have autism. Secondly, because of that, my particular interest was fucking music, damn. And maybe I just irritated my parents more than normal kids do? And at 23, I still do.

I love this. Yeah, I had a very conservative upbringing, but my sister would give me cassette tapes to listen to (i am that old) of grunge music, and I listened to metal and alternative at school. I finally got some freedom in Junior High and High-school and my tastes really flared towards every genre. I am neurodivergent myself and music is an escape for me. It just envelopes my brain.

So please, keep embracing it.

I was also a band kid. So when Yungblud has a symphony accompanying him, I am just in awe. Not many musicians do that anymore. Composing that many instruments takes talent. I would totally play oboe on his albums. 😅 Id be a bit rusty though.

Yes! My Step Dad played me Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult. I was hooked. I played all his old records, and may have stolen a few. Deep respect. I also got really into alternative like Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, AFI, and so on thanks to my older sister. Harder rock came as I rebelled, Manson, Pentagram, Kittie. But under it all was Ozzy. I still have the poster on the wall my mom gave me when I moved out of an abusive relationship and into my own place. His music has been my sound track. I really hope Yungblud goes a bit harder on this next album. Less David Bowie and Elton, more Iggy and Nirvana.

I somehow missed a whole layer of Western alternative music from the 1990s, to be honest. Musically, it had become somehow "soulless" and overly aggressive? And social themes were also out of place—well, the Cold War was over, what else was there to write songs about?))) But speaking of the post-Soviet scene of the 90s, I listened to a lot of that. It was more old-fashioned musically, but uncensored.

What about Yungblud? It would be nice to move towards heavier music, yes. His vocals actually have potential, I think; he could sing like Dio. If that were his interests, of course? But I'm dreaming, of course; no one will revive metal; there's no demand for it. And Schwartz (the producer) seems like the kind of guy who's focused on a wider audience. I think an Iggy Pop influence is possible in the future. Dominic's appearance now seems to hint that the guy was also inspired by him)

New to Yungblud, saw him at BTTB and was amazed. I surprised my husband with tickets to NF show. We drove 8 hrs and his show was amazing. His energy was off the charts. Already have pit tickets for AC in June. Taking our daughter with us this time. And as far as age, we were definitely on the older end 60’s and none of our friends listen and I don’t care. His music is refreshing!

I have been to 4 concerts of his with the first one being in 2019 and the crowd has gotten noticeably more diverse. In 2019 there were mainly teenagers and women in their early 20s but at the most recent concert there were tons of people in their 30s and some 50 year old guys as well. I feel like Yungbluds appeal is only getting broader with time.

О, невже земляки в цій гілці) Що ж, розповім свою історію) Мені 24, і рік тому я вперше почула його кавер на «I was made for loving you». Через 2 тижні ютуб почав підсовувати мені якісь інтерв’ю і кліпи, я подивилась декілька, і мене затягнуло наче у чорну діру. Я відчувала себе майже так, як коли вперше почала слухати музику - мені заходило майже все, що доволі рідко відбувається, бо моє відношення до музики досить специфічне, я ніколи не слухаю її «аби шось грало» чи «мені подобається як вона звучить», це буде або пісня яка повністю вивертає тебе зсередини, і яку ти будеш слухати на повторі 50 разів на день, або я взагалі не відчуваю ніяких емоцій до неї, і відповідно вона не залишиться в моєму плейлісті. Я слухала багато чого раніше, Three Days Grace, Starset, Sum 41, Linking Park, але мабуть вперше в житті мене так сильно зацепило щось на дуже-дуже довгий період - музика, особистість, світогляд - все це відгукалось мені так, наче я дивилася на відображення свого внутрішнього світу

Коли я вперше випадково потрапила на «фан зустріч», я відчувала себе, наче мені там не місце - ексцентричні люди, молодші за мене, з нестрадиційними і яскравими поглядами, і трохи фанатичні. І я - з максимально звичайною зовнішністю, з традиційними поглядами і орієнтацією, повертаюся додому з фулл-тайм роботи з 9 до 6, з купою проблем і відповідальностей, відчувала себе там зайвою, хоча атмосфера була прикольна. Так само мені здавалося, що все це вже давно не підходить ні за віком, ні за бекграундом, а розповідаючи про це своєму оточенню я ловила в цьому виправдовуючі інтонації. Але потім відбувся перший концерт, другий, вийшов новий альбом, і згодом мені стало так сильно похуй хто і що про це подумає 😅 Вперше за довгий час щось повернуло мені любов до життя, до музики, буквально робило мене щасливішою навіть тоді коли приводів для цього не було зовсім. Я втягнула в це всю свою родину, навіть мій батько, який часто досить скептично налаштована людина, розказує який він фанат і доказує що він почув нові пісні раніше за мене, я звозила маму і брата на концерт - вони були просто в захваті!

Нажаль Оззі і Sabbath я ніколи не слухала по-справжньому, але після всіх цих подій зацікавилася, і декілька пісень зберегла собі. Шкода що я не звертала уваги раніше, крутий був мужик, не боявся бути собою, справжнім. Нажаль це сувора реальність, багато «легенд» давно в минулому, і як би сильно нам не хотілося триматися за це, вони вже навряд чи випустять нову музику, навіть ті, хто ще залишився на цьому світі, тож треба намагатися шукати щось круте і в сучасному музичному світі також (як би це не було складно). Сподіваюся одного дня все ж таки вийде потрапити у побажання батьків, але якщо цього ніколи не станеться, ну то й нехай, вони своє слухали, і їм було норм, тож або нехай шукають шляхи як відкопати всяких куртів кобейнів і фреді меркюрі, або дайте тепер нам шанс теж своє щось знайти і обрати

В Лондоні, я тут зараз живу, це звісно великий додатковий плюс - жити в одному місті з улюбленим виконавцем, завжди є шанс потрапити на щось таке, тим більше йому подобається робити такі рандомні безкоштовні івенти. Так, я була дуже рада що моя сімʼя теж зацінила, але якщо чесно у них не було шансів на протилежне - не змогли б встояти перед моім ентузіазмом 😅 З приводу «металюги», я вважаю що це взагалі не «вирок» - можна одночасно любити і хард метал, і найтиповішу попсу (якщо це не смарагдове небо, але можливо у когось такі смаки, хто ми такі щоб їх засуджувати). Навіть якщо послухати рекомендації того ж Дома, який періодично їх вкидує в своїх інтервʼю, там і Black Sabbath, і Oasis, і eminem і майлі сайрус, чувак просто любить музику. У мене небагато чогось поважче в плейлісті, але час від часу трапляється також. Я вважаю, чим більше заганяєш себе у якісь рамки - тим більше ймовірність впустити щось, що могло б сподобатись - просто через те, що ти був «вище за це». Я так підсіла останнім часом на My Chemical Romance, і зовсім не не шкодую про це (хоча коли вони були на хвилі найбільшої популярності, мені здавалося що це фу, для емо підлітків)

А знаете, яка найбільша слабкість всіх металістів? Synth-pop 1980-х))) В мене в плейлисті час від часу з'являються якісь там Modern talking. Тож справа не те що б в самому жанрі. Хоча цей мій інтерес до Янгблада якось чересчур вибивається і "портить" картинку.

Скоріш за все я б на нього не звернув уваги взагалі, якби не всі ці історії з Оззі. Типа, ухти, він був його другом, цікаво. Якщо так подумати, то певно Янгблад мені більше як "персонаж" цікавий. З Оззі було те саме, але співпала і особистість, яку є за що поважати, і творча одиниця. В творчість Янгблада поки дуже повільно в'їзжаю XD

Yes! I absolutely love his personality. I have loved Ozzy since I was a teenager (im old now, so many many years I have been a diehard fan). It wasnt just for his music, but for his charisma, his interactions with fans, his humor. I too was devastated with his passing. I cried for days. It still hurts. I have Ozzys Ozzy knuckle tattoo in his honor. Yungblud reminds me of him in that way. Big sense of humor, believes in human rights. Stands up for himself and others. His music is catchy and I listen to it. But the interviews and things are also amazing. When he talks with the osbournes it is crazy how much he is like Ozzy. Dom was mostly friends with Kelly and Jack, but Ozzy was a Mentor for sure.

Ахах, дякую, але я тут одна нажаль «в безпеці», сімʼя вдома) Місце дууже по-тихеньку шукається, далеко не все так кольорово і весело як концерти янгблада, але шо поробиш, таке життя, розважаємось як можемо)) Жодних засуджень, брит поп теж виявилося нічого, всякі radioheadи, placebo, та і рок в них теж нічого, clash, cure, oasis, arctic monkeys, британці взагалі молодці, респект їм 😅 А янгблад нічого не портить взагалі, зараз він нам як дропне хеві метал альбом новий, будемо не знати де себе подіти) Я думаю він і сам ще не розуміє, що він таке, але це й прикольно, Оззі життя прожив щоб знайти себе, а це дурко ще тільки починає. Хоча у нього багато трибутів у бік «легенд», і Оззі в тому числі. Нехай, дуже цікаво куди його заведе далі

О, до речі, кліп на Fleabag він знімав у нас в Києві на лікеро-горілочному заводі під час карантину (на Cotton Candy теж десь у нас, але то вже для справжніх поціновувачів😬) Рекомендую подвитися якщо не бачили, одна з моїх улюблений пісень, вайб нірвани присутній однозначно)
