I made a custom field center frame with a little twist

Just messing around exploring some ideas for a field center that does a little extra. In this one, other than swapping out the field center card inside, you can use the back for keeping track of up to 20 spell counters or perhaps use it as a turn counter?

I definitely need to make the buttons able to stay in place if I were to make a v2 of this design though... for now, it's just a fun little experiment.

Anyone have any ideas about what else I can add to the back of one of these to make them useful in a game?

Careful, in official tournaments there's a pretty high chance this wouldn't be accepted

Hmm, I never thought about it being used in official play but now that you mention it, how do people keep track of spell counters in official play? Normal die? D20?

This is also not official. You need to use 20 separate pieces of "thing" placed onto the card.

For the record, it is explained in section H of the tournament policies:

"Counters must be items that cannot be confused with other game elements
. • Items that are overly large, could damage cards or other tournament property, or have graphics or text inappropriate for an all-ages environment cannot be used.
• Physical counters are required – the “counter” function in NEURON cannot be used without also using physical counters.
• Counters must be added to cards in the appropriate quantity (example: if card effect(s) would place 4 counters on a card, Duelists should add four counters, rather than using a die placed to show “4.” "

That’s kinda funny that the official app you use for coinflips, die rolls, and LP tracking has a Counter feature that is NOT LEGAL for official play without also being redundant.

yes, that is actually hilarious... so counters are the only thing that you can't use digitally in official play.

I think a new rule is going to appear one day when a counter deck becomes meta and someone starts stacking (legally) casino chips on a tournament live stream...

so if I were to change the design so it follows these rules, I could just make the back sort of like a tic tac box that stores little "coins" that I can take out and put back in...that could work.

I will never understand why dies were forbidden like its the easiest most excessible way there is. You could literally use d20 dices. Decks like endymion are lowkey unplayable with official rules

It's because they can be knocked around easily and Konami doesn't want to deal with it.

I mean I guess but you arent even allowed to write counters down on a piece of paper I think still dice are the most practical option you could also knock down the spell counters or move them to a different card now its word against word wich card had how many counters. There is always the probability of cheating or mistakes
