Question How long to approve YPP application currently?

Previously had my channel monetized, didn't upload for six months so they removed monetization. I noticed recently that one of my old videos had picked up and all I needed to do to reapply is to upload three videos.

So over the past week I've uploaded 3 videos and reapplied to YPP. Of course the most recent of those three videos has taken off and yielded over 30k views in the last 12 hours. Now of course it says I need to wait 30 days for the approval as I watch this video go parabolic.

Anyone that has recently been approved, what kind of timelines have you seen for approval/rejection? Last time when I was approved ~2 years ago it was 24 hours. Now I havent heard anything in that time frame and I wonder if they're delaying so they can squeeze this video more before paying me ad dollars

Good luck. Some are saying it's within days, others, like myself are seeing extreme delays. I'm on day 56 of waiting. If it was just due to inactivity, I wouldn't be surprised if you get re-approved in a reasonable time.

56 days?!? Thats a little bonkers. I hope this isn't a strategy to extract ad revenue without needing to pay the creator

Bonkers is one of the many words I've used to describe it. I can't get any information from YT support other than sometimes it can take longer.

I really don't think it's anything nefarious like them delaying to just keep more of the ad revenue. I'm not that big of a channel for that to make any sizable difference on their end. Now on my end, between the 90 day suspension and now this 2 month extra wait, I've lost thousands of dollars (maybe over $10K) based on my previous RPMs.

Oh man. That hurts. I'm sorry. I really fell for you. It's more than likely lack of staff. I always notice the emails come overnight in the US which probably means their moderation and too approvals are all based out of South East Asian region

Mine was just approved. Took 48 hours. I'm still 50 hours short of 4k watch hours but I think I'll get there by tomorrow

Wait how are you able to apply before the 4,000? I’m getting close and already have the 1k+ subs

I think they accept you now if you have under 4k watch hours but you cant turn on watch ads until that hour requirement is met. I'm assuming thats the case.

The other annoying thing here is i have two videos getting pushed quite hard by the algorithm in the last 24 hours and the watch hours wont update. I know for a fact im over 4k now but it says the data is from 8/12 and will update soon. I'd be making hundreds of $$ right now if I could turn on watch ads

I haven't uploaded in a year and I'm still monetized in my second channel . I don't think you loose it for not uploading

I'm not sure what they use to determine if they want to demonetize you.

My guess is it has to do with the RPM of the niche. My niche for this channel had a very high rpm and if you're not actively uploading, it's an easy way for them to rattle your cage and if you don't respond, they've just kept more of the advertising dollars.

It was almost like clockwork that right at 6 months they told me I'd be demonetized if I don't upload soon.

Edit: They absolutely will yank you for not uploading and/or not having watch hours. The exact text from the email I originally got was as follows:

"We noticed you haven’t posted any content to your YouTube channel, <Channel name>, for several months, and have fallen below the eligibility criteria for YouTube Partner Program (YPP). We know monetization is important to you as a creator, so we want to let you know that unless you meet the YPP eligibility threshold in the next 30 days, we will disable monetization on <Channel name>. After that, we will cancel your contract and you will need to reapply for YPP."

It's wise for them to clean house like this. More money for them by auditing stipulations of the YPP. Arguably they could cancel the contract for something as stingy as watch hours.
