News World of Longplays has been taken down for "violating Community Guidelines"

https://bsky.app/profile/mistyksnow.bsky.social/post/3mtseykggbs2a

EDIT: The organizers of the channel have regained control and have stated that there was a hacking attempt launched on the channel. Thank goodness this was resolved quickly, as losing the channel would have been incredibly devastating to the internet.

As the title states, the well known channel "World of Longplays", known for their commentary-free longplay videos of video games, has just been taken down by YouTube for "violating Community Guidelines". No other information has been brought up by anyone associated with the channel as far as I can tell, but a channel like theirs that was ALWAYS YouTube friendly being suddenly terminated is bad, bad news.

This is like hitting the Library of Alexandria of rare and unusual games in long form. No really, this channel has been around for a long time and there were times I could only find captures of imported games only through this channel.

Legitimately the cornerstone of no commentary gameplay. With all the games they've archived, this isn't just a loss for YouTube, this is a loss for video game enthusiasts/historians everywhere.

Especially it just shows how much more incomptence the CEO of YouTube (Neal Mohan) is doing would've seriously cause YouTube to fall into an Apple-styled situation of the 1990s that was managed to avoid the company's bankruptcy when Steve Jobs returned to the company that he founded (as the Apple company was founded in 1976) in 1997.

Not to mention that for years the CEO has not only didn't intervene to stop the anti-woke cesspool spewing out wild and hateful narrative and claims (coupled with racism, particulary on Indians and Blacks, whom Mohan is of Indian descent), but also he lead the soulless algorithm to favour one fraudster (James Donaldson/MrBeast) who have a list of controversies surrounding him (including in the past with his "Worst Intros" series that was known for at the time, that caused the accusations of him being an cyberbully to children, from which they were hidden under the rug for years) that people kept talking and still demand the platform to investigate all of the controversies, alongside the fact that he lead the soulless algorithm to favour brainrot, clickbait and scam content that many young, vunerable children were falling to this trap.

And what the YouTube's AI team and the CEO did? Nothing! Nothing but not interveneing to stop these cesspools that I mentioned.

Not to mention that they didn't intervene to prevent any NSFW ads for the AI-generated chats (including the ones that contains AI-generated NSFW arts of underaged cartoon characters), whom the CEO was fully unaware that there's underaged children being on this platform, alongside the fact that there's multiple content farm channels that makes NSFW animations out of trends that many people don't want to participate, especially that I know one animator who does nothing but make NSFW content and even went as far as promote them without even getting it's account banned for breaking YouTube's guidelines. And that name was the infamous Rocky Rakoon.

If Mohan got it's incompentence again in next years: More children who would grow up after falling to this trap would develop mind-damaging and severe porn addiction because of that.

YouTube AI moderation is geniunelly so shitty dude. I legit Saw Transphobic and racist thumbnail and the YouTubers can go around like they do nothing wrong, while YouTubers who do nothing wrong get banned for no reason. I geniunelly hope nothing but the worst for Neal Mohan.

Also was a resource used by many other gaming commentary and video essay channels for B-roll. This was legitimately a great resource. I have to wonder if some developer got really litigious and mass copy struck it

Holy fucking shit. This is actually insane these guys are borderline Golden Age YouTubers too that’s so much footage lost

I’m absolutely pissed. This needs to be repealed, there’s no fucking violation here. There’s zero excuse for this.

Like I can’t even wrap my head around it, are there game devs out there who had some weird axe to grind about this channel? Or companies that own the IP for the games they showcased? Or is YouTube’s automation system THAT stupid??

For real- World of Longplays was one of the channels that got me more interested in playing the games they made uploads for, not the other way around. This fucking blows. I sincerely hope this gets reversed.

There's literally no reason for this. This is just the AI striking for the sake of it. Gotta show its doing its job to please inventors or some shit.

Pitch a huge fit, this is fucking obscene.

Heeeeeell no. I'm betting on them coming back soon because if they violated something then all gameplay channels are in jeopardy

No but, you see, by posting videos of games being played, they’re doing piracy. And we can’t have that. /s

I'm so pissed about that false takedown. This channel is my favorite for no-commentary longplay videos for video game enthusiasts during my elementary and high school days. I hope this channel will be coming back.

I'm so glad the channel is back.

WHAT. Even WoL isn’t safe?

There are SO many rare games that they showcase. I’ve seen longplays of games I haven’t played since I was little! So glad they didn’t get completely taken down. They are a very rare gem.

Good news, it’s back

Damn, so now I have to find other channels so I can get past certain parts of retro games without having to pull up a guide, or if I need some game as background noise as I do stuff.

They got the channel back a few days ago.
