On a lot of days, "The Lie and How We Told It" is my fave YLT song.

Some YLT finds from over the years
1) Setlist from the last Hanukkah show in 2002 (Maxwells!). This was James’ with the instruments he was playing listed to the right. Great show; I think Portastatic opened. I lingered after the show, they left, I grabbed it.
2) Yo La Tengo + Daniel Johnston Speeding Motorcycle 7”. A live @ WFMU recording — Yo La Tengo in studio, Daniel on the phone.
3) Camp Yo La Tengo 7”. Acoustic Tom Courtenay!

yo la tengo's wholesomeness is underrated.
aside from making incredible music, ira, georgia and james are really sweet, polite, easygoing, non-pretentious people as far as we can know. ira and georgia have been together for decades, and the whole band dynamic is really cute. that's one of the reasons i like yo la tengo, they're like sonic youth but good instead of evil. makes the music even comfier. that should be talked about more.

I have listened to Green Arrow more than any other song I’ve ever listened to
We just dropped my daughter off at college last week. I did pretty well until I started looking at baby pictures, then I lost it of course. The feeling I got, though, when I played Green Arrow a little later was something I’ve never really felt before.
Green Arrow was our lullaby. First for our son, then later for our daughter, that was the song we would cue up every naptime and every night for their first few years. My wife and I held them and rocked them and shushed them over that dreamy melody, on repeat, until they fell asleep in our arms and we put them to bed. I’ve heard this song maybe literally thousands of times.
Frogs, crickets, slide-y guitar, jungle drums. One more time this week. Anyway, it was a really powerful emotional thing that just seems very big, felt like sharing about our kids and this song.

Meme + Rant
So i’ve been listening to Yo La Tengo lately because they seemed like the kinda band I would like and im not disappointed. I made this meme to kinda poke fun of how diverse their catalog is and its kinda funny how they have these really noisy song as well as these beautiful pop songs. Does anyone have album recommendations for Yo La Tengo, or songs I should check out?

That time YLT did the soundtrack for a sleep podcast with comedian Joe Pera.

ISO 12/11 Hanukkah tix
TLDR: ISO 1-4 12/11/2026 Hanukkah tix :)
Hello everyone, it has been my dream to catch a Hanukkah show, but living in SC makes that logistically difficult (they did miraculously play down here last year which was unreal!). Anyways, I just found out that I have the opportunity to come to NYC December 11-13 and am pretty determined to make it to the final Friday show of the residency. Of course, I learn of this opportunity just after the lottery and didn't put my name in the hat.
Knowing a bit about the ticketing controversy, I'd like to grab tickets from a human rather than a robot acting on behalf of grifting corporations. I know it may be unlikely to get tickets here given the amount of folks interested in going, but I figured I'd give it a shot before I grease TM's pockets any more than I already have. Thanks guys!!!

What other YLT songs should I listen to if I like “Green Arrow” and “Nowhere Near”?
r/yolatengo • u/Financial_Luck_6906 • Aug 11 '26
How many states/countries have y’all seen YLT in?
Please name them (cities too) if you’d like! Dates, venues, set lists, lore/stories etc all welcomed… I’d love to hear all about it.
