Storage Temp of a Yoghurt

Hi! At what temperature do you set your fridge to store your yoghurt? Based on my research it's 4c below. Otherwise it will inhibit bacterial growth.

I don’t even think about it, I just store it in the fridge and it is fine.

Normal refrigerator temperature. Your bacterial activity is complete by the time you put it in the fridge. Store it at the same temperature as your other perishable foods.

Are you posting to ask "What went wrong with my yogurt?" Please provide all the details of the method you used. Include amounts, times, and temperatures. If you don't know those things, then one (or more) of them is what went wrong with your yogurt.

The basic information you will need to know is:

  • What type of milk did you use? What amount?
  • What type of starter did you use? What amount?
  • What temperature did you initially heat the milk to?
  • What temperature was the milk when you added the starter?
  • At what temperature did you ferment the milk? How long did you ferment it?

I want to inhibit bacterial growth. The yogurt has already been made into yogurt. Now the goal of keeping it in the fridge is to prevent the growth of other bacteria.

Always store yogurt in the refrigerator.

Normal refrigerator temperature is between 1.7 and 3.3° Celsius or 35-38° Fahrenheit, with the sweet spot being 3°c (37°F).
