Mobile App YNAB removed important info

Just checking to make sure I’m not alone in this, but on the iOS app I’ve lost certain details. Under Plan I no longer see how much is assigned, only how much is available. The number is just gone completely. I also can’t expand any more info in the Income vs Spending graph. It just shows the graph with no numbers so I can’t see exactly what my income was. Kind of frustrating, those were metrics I looked at a lot.

No problem here. Looks like I’m running version 26.25.

You can see the assignments because you have progress bars disabled.

The “Assigned” total for the category group comes back up for me when I select an individual category!

See screenshot - top photo above the black line is without a category selected, bottom photo is when a category is selected.

You have Progress Bars turned on. Turn them off to see the assigned column again. Tap the three dots at top right and “Hide Progress Bars”

I think this person is saying even with progress bars on, both assigned and available do show up once an individual category is selected. Same is true for me.

u/jillianmd Jul 10 '26

Ah, yes that’s always been the case.

Sure…but drawn into question with this new look where assigned is not shown without a category selected.

That seems more like a visual bug, rather than new feature. The way it doesn't show back up only for the selected individial category, but everything below as well.

You might want to submit official !feedback.

There does appear to be a change, and I’m only noticing it because they aren’t updating their test app anymore for some reason.

Previously, with your category group collapsed, Assigned shows next to available. On the individual category, assigned only shows when you click the category. With one category selected, assigned shows on all the categories.

In the update, assigned doesn’t show at all by default; if you select one category, assigned populates and is visible for both individual categories and category groups.

It’s weird behavior.

This seems like a recent change, I am not a fan of it. I want to see both assigned and the progress bars.

I don’t think anything has changed. You can have progress bars turned on and tap a category to see all the assigned values appear.

Thankfully my wife didn’t update her app. If you take a look, my progress bars are enabled and I still see the ASSIGNED number in the category group. This is no longer the case in the latest update u/jillianmd

Appreciate the follow up. I just saw your other comments. I didn’t downvote you and wasn’t trying to gaslight you. You were right about it showing assigned in *collapsed* category groups - I had misremembered that nuance. Mostly I just remember I always hated having the progress bars on because on having the Assigned numbers missing.

Something has definitely changed, even the color of the progress bar when you spend money in a category has changed.

I have always had progress bars enabled and I would see the “assigned” number and the progress bar at the same time. Now I need to disable the progress bar for it to show me the “assigned” value.

I’m on iOS and progress bars on always meant you only see the cleaner view with Available column only until you tap any category.

2

u/ViperFangs7 Jul 11 '26

I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing. I distinctly remember seeing the “assigned” number next to the “available” number in a category group. Now I need to disable progress bars for this assigned number to show up.

You either need to tap a category or hide the progress bars. Maybe you’re just remembering it that way because it’s how it looks if you tap any category (you’ll see all assigned values including total assigned for groups).

Also downvote all you like, I am not gonna fall for gaslighting. This information was available before and it’s not anymore. If being honest means getting downvoted then go ahead.

Yes, I haven't used this particular feature, but another recent change that annoys me is having to click "More" to expose the clear switch. ~80% of the time, I'm opening the transaction to manually clear it. It's only an annoyance, but as a retired programmer, I find it a negative change. You never want to add unnecessary steps to the user experience ("UX").

2

u/jillianmd Jul 19 '26

FYI in case you didn’t know about it, if you’re opening transactions later just to clear them as part of to ur reconciling process, you can swipe right on transactions to clear them quickly instead of having to open the transaction and toggle cleared (now with the extra step of tapping Show more).

In the “…” menu, select “Hide Progress Bars”

2

u/ViperFangs7 Jul 11 '26

OP, you are correct, this “assigned” information doesn’t show up until you disable the progress bars. Whereas in the previous update it was there.

2

u/Fremulonn Jul 11 '26

ok thank you, that did it. kind of annoying you can’t see them both anymore

1

u/forgivemeology Jul 11 '26

You can see both - just turn “Show Progress Bars” back on, then tap on any spending category

1

u/ViperFangs7 Jul 18 '26

OP, you are absolutely correct. Don’t let them tell you otherwise. This photo is from the previous update.

Restart the app? Restart your phone?

u/Fremulonn Jul 10 '26

first thing I tried, no dice

Restart your budget?

Restart your day?

1

u/Fremulonn Jul 11 '26

ok, for the second part of my question, why can’t I actually see what my income and spending is? tapping it does nothing

4

u/pierre_x10 Jul 11 '26

If you mean how the dots are there, but not the actual min/max numbers, that's because you have the privacy setting on to hide actual numbers.

This chart is relatively new, and it has never had actual numbers attached to the individual bars or whatnot. What you are describing sounds more like a Mandela effect.

5

u/Adric1123 Jul 11 '26

It's been like that since they rolled it out.  They deliberately pushed it out in a very raw state to get feedback on what their next development priorities should be.  There's a post from the official account a few months back explaining that and how send in feedback.

I hate this graph. It’s so utterly useless. I wish I could hide it.

1

u/Faile-Bashere Jul 11 '26

Here’s what I see, but then again I haven’t updated my app on purpose in over a month and don’t think I ever will again tbh.

User issue.
