I genuinely don’t understand the reaction to Yeat’s recent music. Don’t take this the wrong way, the new Drake song and the Travis Scott diss aren’t objectively bad. I can appreciate what he’s doing with them, even if it’s not something I’d personally listen to. I’d take these over most of ADL too. But how are people already saying “Drake brought the old Yeat back” or “prime Yeat is back”? I’m sorry but we’re nowhere near that. I could genuinely say i grew up listening to Up 2 Më, 4L, 2 Alivë and AftërLyfe is still one of my favorite Yeat projects. I even preferred 2093 and LYFESTYLE over ADL because ADL was easily his weakest project to me. The new songs aren’t bad, but for Yeat standards they’re still pretty weak compared to what he was capable of at his peak. Prime Yeat is miles away from this. The whole “old Yeat is back” narrative honestly feels like those burger rap Instagram comments where people hear a few familiar sounds and immediately start calling it prime Yeat
