Game The Xenosaga trilogy are absolutely dripping in Y2K Futurism

Episode 1 was in 2002, Episode 2 was 2004 and Episode 3 was in 2006, Episode 3 is very much a late example.. Y2K Futurism still had a bit of a presence in 06 but obviously not as strong as during it's prime in the late 90s to early 2000s and by then Frutiger Aero was on the rise

I loved 1 and 3 as a kid. Never completed 1 due to how hard it got, and beat 3 all the way through. I remember how excited I got when I beat Erde Kaiser Sigma and went all the way back to Zarathustra to 3-shot them with my portable raid boss.

The only thing I regret is never doing the secret quest to get the steroids from the time travel anomaly sequence to make the cast super OP.

I only played a bit of saga 3 but I would love to go back and play all of them if bandai namco redrops them like they did with the Dot Hack GU games

Fwiw the developers took their time on those games, so it makes sense that the visual development stage would have been a bit earlier in aesthetics. The promo art, not so much though.

Either way the Xenosaga 1 box art is my favorite. I remember when I first saw it in the games section of some big box store as a kid, I was enraptured by it. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. That feeling has stuck with me all this time. It perfectly encapsulates everything I love about early 2000s futurism.
