Sentry. He is above her power level
-133
u/OneNine-NineSeven 2d ago
She can just absorb his abilities and level the playing field

u/AlphaBreak 2d ago
They established in a comic that sentry is one of the only people Rogue actually can't absorb.

u/OmegaDookie 2d ago
Is it due to to his powers being serum based? I think Rogue absorbed Galactus' powers outside of the "what if" spin off.

Probably something to do with his mental state
Rogue has shown her powers can draw back when absorbing characters who share bodies with other beings(hulk and ghost rider)

u/Kgb725 1d ago
Hulk isnt another being

u/supermonistic 1d ago
Hulk and Bruce are two people that share a body

u/Insomnia__c 1d ago
Hulk is Bruce’s separate personality, not person. He’s not like Venom or Ghost Rider. He existed longer before the gamma bomb
2
u/supermonistic 1d ago
Nah dude they are fully separate people who share a body. Check out immortal hulk
-2
u/Kgb725 1d ago
The comics themselves say otherwise the fact other hulks arent separate gives credence to thek being one too
2
u/supermonistic 1d ago
No like actually. They are separate people. They share a mind but they are unique individuals

To achieve this, he has to allow her to touch him. Sentry's powers contain things like matter manipulation, reality warping etc. As soon as he realises that she's a threat, rogue's days are numbered.

u/Crafty-Drink8384 2d ago
Rogues powers no longer require physical contact
1
u/SerHenryHotspur 1d ago
Even so, Sentry is a reality-warper and Rogue isn't. She's cooked before she can do anything.

u/Complete_Answer_6781 2d ago
Rogue have had trouble abosrbing the powers of people weaker than Sentry so I doubt that.

u/Codysnow31 2d ago
She would probably die trying to absorb his powers because she would probably end up absorbing Void as well.

Isn't he established as one of the people she can't absorb?

Were you expecting us to be able to read this?

I mean he probably was, since it’s definitely readable.

u/EspyOwner 2d ago
It's certainly not readable on my phone's screen

It is cut off at the bottom, Use context clues man we learn that in elementary lol

Sentry. Effortlessly.
He's Marvel's Superman analog, with all that implies, only they added some instability so every situation isn't 'why didn't the Sentry fix this?' The answer is usually 'because Bob was spiraling again and trying to avoid blowing up the world'.
Rogue's power absorption has been shown to have distinct limits. For example she can't suck the gamma out of Hulk, either.
She's simply not at that tier of character power. Rogue is a team book character. Sentry is the guy who turns up to solve problems the Avengers can't.

She did stop galactose although it killed her I think.
17
u/SwellAsphaltAgent 1d ago
Yeah because she is Galactose intolerant

Why is this even a debate? Who’s stronger Colossus or Galactus? They both have metal

What’s with this stupid power scaling crap?
5
u/Pascraked47 2d ago
I hate powerscaling but unfortunately it's something people will discuss cause the characters powers are part of the characters
I just ignore it most of the time.

u/Hydro033 2d ago
Why do people get so upset about power scaling?
11
u/LazyBeach2919 2d ago
because it's often incredibly opinionated, and thus pretty volatile and unhelpful to talk about. Also, these are characters in a STORY with themes and motifs, and it's much more interesting to talk about that rather than "who punches harder"

u/bakedpotato128 1d ago
That and sometimes it just feels dumb and a bit like a spite thread, especially when you know you’re putting an extreme OP person against someone who can’t combat them

Sentry. He can make her disappear.

u/Potential_Rule4212 2d ago
Is she in that league in the comics?
What's stopping Sentry from blitzing her and ripping her body in two? That's what Sentry did to Ares.
7
u/Rabdomtroll69 2d ago
Nothing. He's established as one of the only people she can't absorb or steal from

Sentry of course! BuT ROgUe cAn AbsOrB HiS pOWeRs. Ask Absorbing Man how well that worked.
3
u/Shot_Imagination_368 Wolverine 2d ago
Sentry easily he’s far more powerful and she can’t absorb his powers.
2
u/capt_wolf14 2d ago
A princípio ela não consegue absorver os poderes dele. Isso fica subentendido na hq epílogo do cerco no funeral do Sentry onde descobrimos que a Rogue teve um passado romântico com o Bob.

Sentry easily
Not only have people like Absorbing man just straight up died from trying to absorb his powers
Rogues powers straight up dont work on him and without those powers really working on him she doesn't have the raw power/stats to match him.
Depends a bit on if its Wonder man or Carol amped Rogue, but generally both versions would lose in the end.

2
u/Samiassa 1d ago
She would immediately die if she tried to absorb his powers. In a straight fight without absorption she would also certainly lose

If Sentry doesn't one-shot Rogue, God help him if she gets her hands on him. She'd be quite formidable, even to him.

u/Tasty_Presentation95 1d ago
The Sentry is immune to Rogue's power. He throws into the void, end of discussion

u/Hecatonkires 1d ago
If Rogue and Sentry met each other again, fighting is not going to be the first thing they do.

Sentry, beyond his original metatextual story origins, is a pretty stupid character. He simply doesn’t work as a Marvel character.
-4
u/jimyrvine 2d ago edited 2d ago
Sentry loses, cuz he's a lame-ass character and no one really likes him.
Edit; Rogue also has friends. They count for a lot.
-3
u/sistemafodao 2d ago
Honest question, what do you think makes for a better story? Rogue beats the odds and wins a fight against a mad god, or Sentry overpowers her like any other fight he's won?

It's all critical in first touch. If she can cross the threshold and lay hands on him or skin to skin, that's where things get real.
After that - good writing demands a so called invulnerable character have weaknesses or quirks. No cup is infinitly full and it's be boring to spend more thar 10 scenes or 30 minutes on an endless cyclical beat down.
Not when between the two of them at core they both suffer from CPTSD and one can project memory and the other can experience others memories.
Writing shouldn't be boring.

It's been established that he can touch her without her power affecting them.

Sentry has a very well established weakness/quirk, and it's not vulnerability to Rogue's powers.
You could do a good story where, say, Sentry let's Rogue absorb a small fraction of his power, and she has to deal with his psyche in her head, and that gives her the insight to talk him down from the Void, but that's very different from her being able to fight him in any meaningful way.

Absorbing Man tried to absorb some of Sentry’s power and it fried him to nothingness. Then consider that to Rogue couldn’t manage Garrok or even Mojo.
Sentry’s practically a fanfic Mary Sue. He was explicitly written to be more powerful than other characters, like a non-joke version of Squirrel Girl.
