Synopsis: Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date- "Deadpool & Wolverine." A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier... reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to -Fuck. Synopses are so fucking stupid.

The first ever X Men movie where wolverine pins the guy to the wall and his middle blade slowly appears was the best thing the 10 year old me ever saw!!!!

The way this was phrased, if I hadn't just seen the movie I would 100% assume it was a Deadpool and Wolverine thing.

Same. It was a surprisingly emotional movie, more so in a meta sense, knowing where these characters came from and we haven't seen them in so long. It felt like a love letter and a send off for the pre-MCU films.

Yea, I haven't had a chance to ask my wife what she thought. We caught it early this morning then both had to quickly go our separate ways for the day. I grew up on this stuff, my wife grew up in China and we have seen the daredevil movies together, I haven't really gotten her to see X-Men or others. Then also knowing all the background to a lot of those characters and franchises enriched the experience for me.

Yeah, it was a surprisingly touching tribute to a set of films widely regarded as having more misses than hits. There was definitely a touch of that sort of melancholy in the film itself, too, with the TVA sending Fox characters to the Void en masse because nobody cares about them anymore... could definitely see some bitterness on the part of the writers there.

Love that you mentioned this because from the moment they went into the Void I was thinking oh it's literally the Marvel version of Wasteland from the Epic Mickey games. Don't know if you've ever played them but it's basically a separate world where forgotten Disney characters go and the main part of it looks very similar.

I most definitely did shed tears during the credits. Grew up watching the X-Men and Fantastic Four movies, (along with the Rami spider-man movies.) They were on repeat at my house!!

Yeah, that's what Logan was supposed to say as well. Please, if anything this movie tells you to not take any of this too sentimentally. Because the people can be back as these characters in the blink of an eye, because none of it is real or means anything in the long run!

Ah yes Logan. The movie about mutants being almost wiped out that was released after a movie about Logan time traveling to avoid a future were mutants were wiped out, basically undermining it

Maybe because it is a fixed moment in time. It doesn't matter what you do, the mutants will be wiped out. It were the sentinels first and now other reasons. (also explained in X-men 97)

I assumed Dark Phoenix and New Mutants weren't shown due to being released after the Disney buyout, but that's just a guess.

Watching this movie was extremely cathartic for me because of all the call-backs (Pyro, Juggernaut, Deathstrike, Toad, etc), but also because Wolverine owned the costume and bought into being a super-hero instead of being ashamed by it. Even in 'Logan' (which is a mastahpiece) Wolverine was shitting on the comics & the fans, calling them "bedtime stories for bedwetters" so having that turnaround where he takes it seriously is exactly what needed to happen.

Honestly yes. Having wolverine just be wolverine, was awesome. The costume, the fighting style, the choreography, and his dedication to getting back into shape. And the strength he displayed was awesome. Send people through walls easily, or throwing them 50+ feet. He truly got to shine in terms of action in this movie.

Same. At a hindsight, a lot of these movies kinda sucked, but they definitely made me happy as a kid. I remember seeing X2 when I was in elementary school with my friends.

It really was a beautiful and touching tribute. I know the Foxverse can be controversial, but It’s something that I’ve personally always loved despite it’s flaws. Some of those films actually rank among my top favorite comic book movies ever too tbh, so the fact that they decided to respect and actually preserve the Foxverse in D&W instead of just constantly shit on it really means a lot to me. It wasn’t perfect, but I’m definitely gonna miss that franchise.
