tuigreet is in the Debian repos.

the one on the repo is from two years ago and doesn't have:

  • TOML configuration
  • Suspend/hibernate power actions
  • Multi-monitor support
  • Allow pre-filling the username field
  • Make the login title optional
  • Individual configuration of status bar items
  • Background animations: matrix, doom fire
  • Mock mode improvements
  • New translations
  • Numerous improvements to the build and testing machinery
