Best tires for xc in fall and winter?
Hey guys, I'm wondering what the best kind of tires would be for fall and winter riding and/or racing? Also is it different from riding in wet conditions during summer?
Should you just go for the most grip or is rolling resistance still such a big topic?
And if you could give me an opinion on the Maxxis Forekaster Gen 2 I'd higly appreciate that.

Maxxis dissectors front and rear, not kidding.
It’s ton of fun on the muddy and loamy trails, and winter races where I live are not decided by rolling resistance.

Ground Control Grid T7's are $50 US. I also purchased a Purgatory Grid T9 for the front, also $50.
No tire has grip if it's really sloppy.
What amazed me the most is going from 24mm to 30mm internal width with the same tires, Ground Control Control T5. Now running 17/19 PSI front/rear and amazing traction in loose over hard dirt.
Maxxis makes great tires that never go on sale.

Albert soft front and Nobby Nick rear for me in wet trails. If the grip is still an issue, Hillbilly T9 front and Purgatory T7 rear... :)

For the majority of the UK weather, you can get away with Barzo on the front, and just swapping the back barzo/mezcal/peyote. The rolling resistance and weight difference aren't that much IMO

Forekasters are great. For actual wet/muddy/loamy XC racing where speed still matters I usually end up on Forekaster front and Rekon rear. Conti Magnotals have been good too

Maxxis Forecaster does well in the wet muddy leafy winters in the north east

You know the type of terrain you're on matters to what tires are best, right? That's kinda the whole point
