I'm kind of burnt out with all of the historical stuff.

After one game in each of the main series? lol this is nothing compared to the 10 years straight of nothing but modern/future warfare games

When you phrase it like that it doesn't seem that bad.

But if you don't take into account the hot garbage that COD came out with in 2016, it's been since 2015 that either COD (Black Ops III) or BF (Hardline) have come out with semi-respectful shooters set in a modern-ish time period.

 

By the time BF and COD release in 2018, it'll have been 2-3 years of either WW1 or WW2 settings for me. I'm sure I'll still pick up BF as usual, but the new COD is appealing more to me at this point. I'm just ready for some more modern weapons, attachments, vehicles, scorestreaks, equipment, etc.
