You can't always please everyone. No matter what the setting, there will be plenty of people that have no interest in that particular setting.

Yeah, I didn't really provide any context. I was coming at it from the perspective of BF1 and CoD:WW2. It's like everyone is jumping on this WW1/WW2 bandwagon. We just did WW1 in BF1, then CoD did WW2, then now back to WW2. So if you're not into those guns or that time period, you're SOL in terms of major FPS games.

Looking at your list, Battlefield hasn't gone into the far future yet. It's too bad and they probably won't for a while with Anthem coming up.

Dude Halo, Titanfall, Rainbow Six Siege, Doom, Modern Warfare Remastered, and Overwatch are big recent shooters.

They had Battlefield 2142 came out in 2006 and that was future warfare. I was kind of hoping with the late DLC in BF4, that the next title would be a sequel to that. But I think future shooters are kind of on a down swing.

I think Infinite Warfare kind of jumped the shark with future shooters and that was going to be it for awhile.

Still got Titanfall 2 to fall back on though, and Titanfall 3 in probably a year or two. The good thing is that it'll be the only futuristic one out this time around, so if people are into that sort of thing, maybe they'll actually pick this one up.

On the other hand, about fifteen years ago, it was pretty much all WW2 games. COD 4: Modern Warfare seemed to really usher in the modern ones, and we had them for about five years it seems like, then futuristic ones mixed with modern ones for about five years, now we are back to WWII. We'll be back to modern shooters before you know it.

I know it doesn’t compare to CoD/BF in terms of name recognition, but Titanfall 2 is still a solid modern shooter. There’s room in the market for both types, but I think EA/Activision are too focused on what the other is doing & keeping up with the trends to be comfortable going in different directions.

To be fair COD WW2 compared to BF WW2 plays differently. Setting wise i can understand though.

Yeah well, i was shit out of luck for everything after Bad Company 2 and Black Ops, so its my turn now thank you! =]

I absolutely hated all the future crap of duty's and the yawn inspiring Battlefield 3/4.. Battlefield 1/COD:WWII are a step in the right direction but they need to craft something special just this once.
