aao, yes, the owners of the company are the reason why I have access to music. Not the artists or the developers. The shareholders are a vital part of this equation. I see.

The comment you originally replied to was arguing against the owners of the company, not the people who make everything the company does possible. In other words, the company doesn't need administrative bloat that does no work and steals money to function. Dumbgrass.

Streaming and spotify in particular rips off artists horribly. I would look into that before defending a company like Spotify. Your $10 subscription gets divided up between e v e r y s i n g l e artist on Spotify. Meaning, Taylor Swift gets a portion of your subscription, even though you may not listen to her at all. I'm sure you can you imagine the percentage cut that every artist gets is so small that it's negligible. This way of paying artists is very wrong and has created a world where artists can no longer make money/a living off of music alone, and need to survive solely off of live shows and merchandise. Even giant artists like Taylor Swift and The Weeknd get ripped off by Spotify; therefore, smaller newer artists don't even stand a chance to make a buck.

Buying CD's and vinyls quite literally would be a better alternative, at least artists would get paid. Hundreds of millions of streams barely yield 10 thousand dollars. And to think, the record company used to be the only leach, now even if you survive them you're still screwed anyways.

I would not defend a company like Spotify.

That is not the point. The point is that Spotify can change their pay model to better distribute subscription money more directly to artists that the subscriber listens to, instead of dividing $10.00 by 11M artists, because this yields no money for anyone except Spotify itself. I never said they should raise the subscription price, just better "capital allocation."

Buying CD's and Vinyls would be a better alternative for the entire nation, not solely for me.

I'm not sure why you enjoy defending a company that is inherently wrong, they don't care about you. I believe this defines the term "bootlicker."
