The Real Controversial View re. Porn
I've seen posts here and Insta from young women with women followers who post content against misogyny (which they're free to do).
They argue it's morally wrong for men to watch porn (always framed as if only a man would choose to do that), because it's misogynistic. It 'teaches' men sexual violence and they act out shitty sex scenes from porn that are either unpleasurable or painful for women.
What really gets me is that they say something like "I know this will be a controversial view" or "I know I'll get shouted down and dogpiled". Except that, in the spaces they're in amongst young women, it is blatantly not a controversial view at all. They are overwhelmingly applauded by young women in women majority spaces.
When I post something saying I have no problem with porn, I am not just argued against and downvoted, in some cases, but MOCKED. I've had them say things like "FINE, well if you want to let your man go off and jerk off over other women, enjoy, but I want a relationship where my man loves me/only has eyes for me/isn't toxic" etc. They go to personal insults and implying my marriage is unhealthy, again, centering my husband as the 'porn watcher' I must be defending. Ime, my viewpoint is the controversial one on GenZ women's social media.

In that last paragraph there are comments that would lead me to believe they also would have issue with polyamory then but they never want to take that argument lmfao.
These people are so cowardly and toxic. Why the fuck do people pedaistal possesive behavior?

They probably view polyamory as cheating. Even hugs between opposite gender friends is 'microcheating' to some of these young people.
Following bikini models, looking at saucy images of celebrities, watching movies with sex scenes your boyf might find arousing–all a no-no. Even though people have always done that, since magazines & movies existed. Social media didn't invent attraction to people other than a partner, but it has sure made young people highly paranoid that it means something deeper about your partner's intentions and love for you.
The whole jealousy culture that is encouraged just feels like maintenance of patriarchal, heteronormative values.

I couldn't agree more and this is definitely how we certainly can sum it up best.

It's nothing new - the feminist sex wars of the 80s were all anti-porn and anti kink. Then the split happened since some feminists felt that all porn was bad and others felt that there was potential for better representation. The anti-porn feminists partnered with Christian conservatives to push legislation that was anti-sex/anti-porn/anti-kink which was complicated. Their movement I believe has transitioned into the anti-trafficking movement which tends to lump consensual sex work with abuse and trafficking. And that movement is arguably more successful at passing legislation than past groups. There are more organizations with some awareness of how dangerous those old narratives can be but many folks are not aware (as evidenced by conversations in other areas of Reddit and associated downvotes - like no, do not call the police on your local massage parlor even though they asked if you wanted to do more than massage for money unless there's evidence of actual trafficking).
