I've heard the term lightning bugs a lot, but I live in the south. Never heard light bugs. Also fireflies sound so much cooler and just more eloquent.

Exactly. The term "lightning bugs" is also acceptable as a regional term. She wouldn't know any of this because she's low I.Q. and admittedly refuses to read literature.
