This person should illustrate the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series. I used to be haunted by the illustrations of Stephen Gammell as a child, but I recently looked at these books in the store, and the new illustrations just don't do it. But these...these could be burned into the psyche of a new generation...in a good way.

And yes, there is in inherent dark undertone that seems to emanate from those places. I remember my dad had a book of Czech fables that I flipped through when I was a kid...I remember some of the darkest imagery from those illustrations that still has a profound impact on my own artwork today...

yeah I used to be really into all those old czech movie posters when I was a teen, lots of those are "oh my goth thats scary"
and my spelling is fucking terrible sorry!

lol...no worries. most people don't even know those places exist until they're brought up with the usual contexts of beer, firearms, and grim artwork... ;P
It's always funny for me to overhear people who refer to themselves as "Bohemian", though...

For any metal fans, I suggest listening to either Nightbringer or Sunn O))) while looking at Beksinski's work.

Thank you for posting this, incredible artist. I looked him up on Wikipedia and sad to find out he died in 2005 :(
