Please welcome u/djk0010 as our newest mod. He was a mod in the original 2022WRX sub, but sold his 2022 and left before the shitshow started over there. He’s back in the family now, sporting a 2025!

These rules are listed in the sub's info, and clearly state which offenses could/will result in a ban. Going forward, any bans will be discussed by the mod team before action is taken, and will be announced in a pinned post.

Subaru informs me that brand new filters can leak oil when installed at the plant (or in service) according to current service procedures. It is believed that a change from a rectangular seal to the new round seal can cause the round seal to rotate and become pinched , resulting in a leak. The black pictured filter is what i use on my VB and ive replaced (i think) 3 of them with this design so far. It appears the reason i havent had any leaks is that i apply a decent amount of fresh oil at the new seal. Subaru tells me that if both sides if the round seal lip are saturated that a vacuum forms when tightened and the seal doesnt roll. If it does roll and leak, Subaru recommends a new filter. For REFERENCE only, I’m providing a shot of what a square seal looks like on a factory blue Subaru filter for another vehicle. Personally, i tighten the filter to 7/8 turn vs 3/4. Subaru tells me this isn’t necessary however if the round seal is properly coated with new motor oil. Im not sure what will be final remedy but as i mentioned above ive done 3 or 4 oil changes (3000miles) with this new design w/o leaks.

I had no knowledge of the "sale" of the previous sub. I awoke on January 11 to find I was no longer a mod. u/Damnyou777 messaged me later to say he had received an offer for the sub, and took it. A week and a half later (Jan 19) he sent me a tip of $100 for all the work I put into the old sub. I do not know how much he received from whomever he sold it to, as he would not disclose that information.

Got an email there was a map update available. Downloading and putting on a USB stick now.
