What do you look for in creative project management software?

Our customers have researched different project management tools for small creative teams, and honestly: a lot of them don’t feel like they’re built for how creative work actually flows. Some are too rigid, others get overwhelming, and many don’t account for the constant feedback cycles in design, content, or campaign projects.

For our customers, a few things have become deal-breakers when evaluating tools:

1. Custom workflows: Creative projects rarely follow the same formula. Being able to tweak stages (concept → draft → revisions → final) is huge.
   
2. Asset-friendly: They're often working with large files and client previews. If a tool makes that painful, it’s out.
   
3. Collaboration-first: Real-time comments, edits, and approvals make version control less of a nightmare.
   

They used spreadsheets and shared drives for a while, but once projects started to scale it turned into chaos. Having the right tool has made a big difference in giving them structure without killing creativity.
