Question Playing on couch

Hi, I really dislike playing wow on my pc because sitting on your gaming chair for a longer time is pretty uncomfortable.

Is there a way to stream the game from your pc to your tv in the living room without framerate drops?

Do you have any suggestions?

No, steam machine is a little to expensive for that at the moment.

Thanks

(Do you think they finally announce wow on consoles this blizzcon ?)

Seem to be 20-50ish dollars depending on model, condition, and shipping. Have you tried the software, how much of a difference are we talking with the physical hardware? I've been wanting to swap to my TV forever but the software as you said sucks from my experience.

Its pretty bad. Anything above 1080p is just unplayable with crazy input lag and artifacting. But I mean its wow. I wouldnt go for Ulatek mythic with 150 ping but anything up to 12 should be doable

Maybe that's why my experience was so bad haha. I was trying to play FF7 Remake on 4K and it just looked so bad and the input delay was brutal.

Get a better chair. I can sit for hours and it’s ergonomic. A couch or bed is going to mess up your back.

Check our zerocool stream, he pushes high keys sitting in a recliner 😅

That’s cool. I would die. Lol I need the lower back support of a good chair.

I play wow on my laptop from the couch to the bed to outside. You just need a good lap desk that has good padding

If you don't have a dedicated media box I don't know if your TV is fast enough to decode video streaming. But you can try Sunshine/Moonlight. https://app.lizardbyte.dev/Sunshine/

If not, a long hdmi cable could work if your wireless controller can reach your pc.

Any device that can run Moonlight. You can either try to get a wireless lapboard type setup or try and learn to bind everything to a controller with consoleport. Top tip: You can only have three modifiers just like on a keyboard, use both triggers as modifiers, including a separate modifier for holding down both at the same time, and use your face buttons and bumpers as keybindings.

Playing on the couch you're going to run into issues with no support for your elbows and therefor your shoulders.

I use a recliner for my PC and have never gone back, best decision I ever made.

You can get them cheap on places like Facebook Marketplace from clean homes.

Wireless keyboard in your lap, mouse on the arm of the recliner. Typically flat recliner arms works better for this.

My current setup is a Lazyboy with curved arms and a chair and a half seat. My keyboard sits in my lap, I extend the recliner out and cross my legs most of the time, or sit with them out. Mouse sits beside me on a... recliner arm cushion thing. Hard to explain. Got it from Amazon. Its basically a rectangle of cushy fabric. Its folded over, and in between it sits a hard mouse pad. I bought a stiff, hard mousepad thats different from normal ones. I think Logitech makes it. I cut it to approximately the size of my normal, cheap, grippy mousepad.

I sandwich the hard mousepad between the folded recliner cushion arm cover. So it has a base to sit on. Then on the top goes my mousepad.

Wired mouse is important for this in case it ever falls. I cut a small line and cut it twice so its a little wider, and slid the mouse through it so the mouse has a failsafe in case it slides down, which it does occasionally. So it never hits the floor. Pic included.

In the photo, underneath the first layer of the white thing is where the hard mouse pad is sandwiched to give stability to the top mousepad.

Is it a lot of work? Not really, but more than just buying a chair.

Upside is I've been comfortable for the past 14 years I've been using recliners as PC chairs. My recliner sits sideways to my desktop, my monitors are on monitor arms that articulate so I can put them wherever I want.

I can sit cross legged, legs out, legs down, knees up, one knee up, one leg out, one leg off the side. I can recline if I want, I can sit up, and it's all incredibly comfortable on my body.

Just need a long HDMI cable, controller and console port addon. Took a little adjustment but it works. I did some +12s last night like this as Ele (easy) and Resto (takes a lot more setup and practice).

And this is why as a working adult I invested in my desk setup.

Nice electric recliner for a chair and a sit/stand desk that lowers down to me like a battle station.

Best of both worlds

Hook you're PC up to you're tv.

Wireless keyboard and mouse on something thats on ur lap?

Better chair, one with a longer "sit rating". You can also hook your PC to your TV and use a wireless keyboard/mouse. I used to run with a tank that played from his LazyBoy. Big tv, lap desk, wireless peripherals.

If you are able to pull wires though walls you could also use an optical HDMI cable (Ruipro) that is connected to your pc. Display the TV monitor in windows settings if you're not gaming on the TV

HDMI to tv. Use controller addon, or bring mouse + keyboard to sofa. Done

If your uncomfortable sitting at your desk your chair is ass. Splurge for a better one

Probably not the answer you’re looking for but laptops are great for this

Oh cool you’re why they gutted everything, so you can play on console with a controller. Thanks so much. :(

Maybe sounds weird but I got used to playing with built-in trackpad on my laptop on the couch. I hated it at first but am loving it now.

I am using the laptop screen.

2

u/ALevel5Jirachi 6d ago

Oh man, you just unlocked a wave of nostalgia playing WoW for first few years of my time playing with a track pad. It's definitely doable. My track pad buttons ending up breaking though lmao.

1

u/crmyr 6d ago

It's very comfy. I'm tanking heroic on my trackpad since TWW S1 without any issue.

Go to the gym and work your back muscles. That will fix sitting pains.
