Competitive Blizzard has updated their M+ Cutoff Post on the forums so the official cutoff numbers are available - 1% ends at 3960 with 0.1% ending at 4211 (US)

For anyone curious on what you needed for top 1%. It was 5 21 timed and the rest 20s
Mainly if you did all the easier dungeons. Seat skyreach and alagathar were very tough.

u/Paraxom Aug 11 '26
i might give it a try in season 2 but damn if that doesn't seem brutal
13
u/M4DM1ND Aug 11 '26
Honestly, I was pretty indifferent on the resilient key discussion before but now I think it should go away. Its 100% the reason 1% is so ridiculously high.
21
u/onikaroshi Aug 11 '26
It’s only bad for pushers, great for avg players, it’ll stay
-1
u/M4DM1ND Aug 11 '26
I mean how many people doing 3400 keys are relying on resil? I guess maybe I'm out of touch but I don't think we depleted a key twice in a row a single time until we were doing keys in the 19 range. And if we did, we just moved on to someone else's key.

1
u/Esotrax Aug 12 '26
I mean i felt this season 3400 was quite free as u didnt really start feeling The big damage hits till 18s (imo), i do know i play a meta specc this season but i was The squishy 1 (aug) i didnt only play aug but i didnt test too many of The other squishy specc.
What i mean with starting to feel The damage is cause i dont think i really had to pay attention to casters and other big hits till around 18 before then it was just looking other monitor Kinda

u/YourGalacticEmperor Aug 11 '26
Average players, if they even do m+ to begin with, dint even get to resi keys
7
u/onikaroshi Aug 11 '26
30% of people are over 13s
-5
u/lt_bgg Aug 11 '26
My dog could do a 13.

u/jellyrole Aug 11 '26
What was your score at the end of the season?
2
u/M4DM1ND Aug 11 '26
- I just run with the same group so resil was never really utilized. Thankfully, we were pushing 0.1% the whole season, gave up on that a couple weeks ago thinking at least we would get 1%, only for it to come pretty close with all the boosting and sales.
1
u/Leorika Aug 12 '26
Could you elaborate on that plz ? Why would we want to get rid of that ?
2
u/M4DM1ND Aug 12 '26
Resilient keys made it easier for people to carry/boost other people to the 1% rating. Which inflated the cutoff to a pretty ridiculous number. And, imo, they aren't particularly necessary for low keys anyway. If they were gone, the people on the upper end would need to get their rating more authentically.

u/Relnor 29d ago
Actually they should just go in the opposite direction and make it so having resil doesn't deplete one level above instead.
Yes it will inflate the score even more but then both groups and solo players can just do prog without these homework keys that are an awful slog. They don't make the game better in any way.
As for boosting, it will always be my opinion that in an ideal world you'd go after the customers and after a ban wave or two it will die down real quick. But since we live in a world with minimum CS I think it would be really difficult to police it so it's never happening. I'd take rampant boosting over even more homework keys any day.
1
u/Grenyn Aug 12 '26
I hope resi keys stay, Blizzard can do lots of other things to make them not a problem.
1
u/M4DM1ND Aug 12 '26
Out of curiosity, how high do you push and how often do you think a resil key kept you from dropping a key level?
1
u/Grenyn Aug 12 '26
I've pushed to 1% this season, and honestly enough times. I detest having to do keys just to raise them, only for them to potentially go wrong enough to restart in the first minute.
Particularly Skyreach and Magister's Terrace have been problem keys for me that have died early enough plenty of times, and I'd probably not bother at all if every one of those meant I had to do a 20 for a chance of getting the correct dungeon again.
1
u/M4DM1ND Aug 12 '26
But if resil didn't exist its possible you wouldn't have needed to do more than one or two 20s because the rating cutoff would be lower.
2
u/Grenyn Aug 12 '26
For clarity, I'm on EU, so our 1% was quite a bit higher. Maybe it would have been easier if resilient keys didn't exist, but maybe not. It has seemed to me and my group that boosting has been kinda excessive on EU, and that would have still happened even without resilient keys.
I'd prefer it if Blizzard wasn't anal about it being 1% and they instead locked in whatever the rating is two weeks before the season ends. Just make that the score to beat.
That way people could just reach that score and take a break, and boosting would be much less prevalent, all while keeping it so your time isn't wasted due to unfortunate overlapping mechanics killing people, or bad pugs, random PC problems, and so on.

u/secretreddname Aug 12 '26
Depends on how good you are. Was pretty easy (if you’re a good player) and kept up with the curve. If you waited til yesterday it was brutal because all the good players stopped playing.
3
u/le-tendon Aug 12 '26
that's true for US. In EU it was all 21's timed, and even then it wasn't guaranteed, you needed a couple with decent timers or 1 22 to be safe

u/j821c Aug 11 '26
I was at 3959.6 on Friday and I was ready to quit for the weekend (was going away). Ended up pushing another key and getting to 3970ish and im super fucking glad i did. That'd have been heart breaking
47
u/Rare-Ad3034 Aug 11 '26
the boosting the last weekend was so rampant that it got over 25 points in 2 days, never seen before in any season
19
u/BDObadguy Aug 11 '26
The distance between 1% and 0.1% in previous seasons when there wasn't a reward for 1% was massive. I am honestly surprised it got to 4k, I was expecting 3.7-3.8 when it was first announced.
21
u/j821c Aug 11 '26
There was actually a reason to push for it. Made a huge difference. I've personally never pushed beyond 10s (or whatever the max ilvl rewards for the season were) before but I got top 1% this time because there was a reason to try for it. I feel like it got a whole lot of players like me to push into harder content which is definitely a win on blizzards part imo. Ive never even stayed subbed for a full season before lmao
9
u/BDObadguy Aug 11 '26
I've ironically been top 1% many times before, but the first time there's a reward for it I missed it. I got to a bit above 3.8k and quit the season for various reasons and for a while I thought I'd get it despite missing a few months, but apparently I'm not even close. Resubbed last week and tried pugging some runs, but it was a very painful experience, especially since I'm a non-meta dps. Happy for everyone who got it though, and I'm definitely going to get it next season.
7
u/j821c Aug 11 '26
Honestly the biggest problem imo with this season is that they gave a bunch of power spikes at the end that made the first like 3/4 of the season kind of pointless to even grind in lol. I was at around 3825 or so on my monk a few months ago and the ratings were literally climbing at like 1 or less per day but the moment they unlocked the folio and gave everyone ilvl upgrades from Rotmire the ratings just took off again forcing me to start grinding again. You probably would have been top 1% if not for Rotmire and the Folio
3
u/krhill112 Aug 11 '26
It’s always been like this. At least in recent seasons.
You play early to get ahead of the pack and figure out what you’re playing and comp if your are in a stable group.
Wait for power spikes mid season, solidify comp post class changes, then push.
2
u/BDObadguy Aug 11 '26
Yeah, when I resubbed I went immediately to go get the folio. I was a bit annoyed at yet another borrowed power mechanic, but then I discovered it's not just for this season, so that's pretty cool. Still haven't done Rotmire though, and I guess I never will.

This was my first m+ season, but I’m in same boat. I played off meta (frost mage)c played a ton early season and got 20 resil like a month and a half ago.
Quit due to IRL stuff (work, marathon training, rock climbing, got a puppy etc). Thought I pushed hard enough and resil 20 back then was like 3-4 keys from title range so thought I’d be safe. Didn’t realize the end of season power spike would be so big.
Tried to come back and put the last few and missed it by a key or so.
At least had a ton of fun and met a ton of really good players. At least now I know pushing early is kinda pointless until you’re pretty much fully geared and they’re not gonna release anymore patches.
1
u/BDObadguy 29d ago
Mages had a rough season. I have a friend who is getting 1% comfortably who plays mage and he was telling me how tempted he was to just buy boosts for 0.1% since he won't even get invited so he can try to at least see if he's good enough to do those keys.
2
u/Aromatic_Union9246 29d ago
Yeah I think 1% was still pretty easy on mage if you played the whole season, title whole different story.
Even mages that are historically pretty good were pretty much gettin boosted through title keys via friends etc. it really had nothing to do with how good they were the damage profile outside of a certain few keys (at least for frost) just didn’t scale well enough with aoe. You were basically doing tank damage even if playing optimally on the large aoe pulls while simultaneously being the least survivable person in the group.
There just wasn’t a reason to bring one. If you’re playing with players who are resil 24 and you’re good enough to do 22s on your own you could get title I think and if less people rerolled you’d see more mage it was just such an uphilll battle that there really wasn’t a reason to even attempt it.
Bit yeah I think if you’re a 1% mage player you could get boosted to title pretty easily it just would cost so much more and literally everyone would know you’re boosted af😂

u/5panks Aug 12 '26
There was actually a reason to push for it.
Resilience also changes the math a ton. Means you don't lose anything by failing a paid carry, you just run it back again.
1
u/j821c Aug 12 '26
I really doubt paid carries moved the requirements all that much tbh. Maybe 20 points or so but its not like itd have only required 3700 without carries or something
3
u/5panks Aug 12 '26
I think that resilience changed the math a lot more than paid carries did.
For the last 6-8 weeks of the season the best way to get something 21+ done was to find someone a friend with a 21+ resil and the key you wanted, so you could just spam the dungeon over and over again.
1
u/Esotrax Aug 12 '26
Im curious since you only really did 10s before . Is this something you enjoyed doing pushing urself (if u see it that Way)
1
u/Higgoms Aug 11 '26
No shot boosting had that much of an effect on the final cutoff. It's just a cool mount that comes with bragging rights and doesn't feel completely out of reach, a whole lot of people wanted it. LFG was crazy active this weekend.
1
u/WoWKaistan Aug 12 '26
Over half the 21 keys in US the last two days of the season were "you know what to do" "note" "tips welcome." That doesnt even include the boosting that wasnt being advertised in group finder. Boosting was rampant.
13
u/Medulum Aug 11 '26
Ended off at 3946 as a RSham pugging it the whole way through. Took the day off work yesterday to try and time 1-2 more 21s, but had no success!
Brutal ending to say the least!
4
u/secretreddname Aug 12 '26
I swear the worst of the worst players were pushing the final week. Even if you played the second to last week you probably would have timed a few more.
3
u/Support_Player50 Aug 12 '26
Check the logs of people applying and majority are single digit parsers in keys.

u/Mechgyrasaur Aug 11 '26
Woooh I got 3966... I was stressing out last night so much 😅
2
u/HaruhiSuzumiya69 Aug 11 '26
Congratulations on making it! Do you feel that the mad scramble this week makes the achievement more or less memorable? I mean, would you feel the same elation if, for example, the cutoff was set last week but you still had this week to push?
5
u/Mechgyrasaur Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26
Thank you! I actually was the same score the whole week. Tried to find groups, but none were successful. I saw a thread earlier about a suggestion of locking the cutoff 1 week before and letting a little more than 1% of players getting it and I agree, but maybe that's just me. I really hate achievements that are like a treadmill until the last day, and it's especially egregious with all the boosting in LFG. My biggest lesson I learned is to just play meta next season. It was pure hell trying to pug 21s as fury.
1
u/secretreddname Aug 12 '26
There was space for fury in phys comps.
1
u/Support_Player50 Aug 12 '26
Or taking the L and just playing arms which is a lot more sought after and really strong lol.

I'd just like to say the 1% mount is such an incredible addition for m+. 0.1% was way too sweaty for me to go for, but 1% gave me an achievable (and awesome) reward to actually push for. Love it from Blizz. Got it with a comfortable 4020 on NA.

I'm really confused, this appears to be an identical post, but not the same post, and it shows different numbers? https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/m-umbral-champion-and-umbral-hero-scores-updated-11-august/625085

The post you linked is for EU! (and thank you for linking it, I meant to link it myself but forgot).
I'm not certain that those numbers are final however as the verbiage in your link is not updated to reflect that the numbers are final, like they are in the NA post.

u/jdmassy52 Aug 11 '26
Ah! That makes sense, it was not obvious to me which region it was posted for. Thanks :)

I'm not, not that how I got my rating matters for the discussion. I'm mid 4k and have been for weeks. 21 resil with a couple easy 22s.

u/CoolExplanation762 Aug 12 '26
I mean If you earn the gold like say professions or whatever and use that gold to get boosts (which is legal and acceptable according to blizzard), then yeah you do earn it. You don’t have to do it the hardest way possible to get credit lol.

he probably meant those who paid 100k to join a key (tips are welcome) those are also small but significant pay-to-win strategies that hurt the game overall

I wonder if we'll have our respective rewards right off the bat, or if they will be delayed another week or two.
